Under Connecticut law, one must retreat, if possible, before using reasonable force while in their own residence.

My note: A homeowner in my former Connecticut town shot himself in the foot while cleaning a gun in his own house and was charged with discharging a weapon within 500 feet of a residence. I don't know what happened with the case but it made the local newspaper.
