The one-line email to which he attached the application concluded with a curt and businesslike sentence signed in a way that further put off the rural Colorado gun range proprietor: “Cheers, James,” according to a copy obtained by FoxNews.com. "That also struck me as very, very strange,” Rotkovich said. “Who says ‘Cheers?’”

Uh.....

.... a lot of people?

Cheers,

Laz

The term “cheers” is something that you pick up with the European base. A lot of Americans who spend years in Germany or the UK....end up using the expression a good bit. I used to work with a guy in my office who made twenty phone calls a day....and typically ended the call with “cheers” every single time.

I noted the kid played soccer a lot...so I’m guessing he picked up various European terms while hanging around the field.

The gun range owner must be Ron Swanson.

English speakers. We find it less impertinant than "Have a nice day"

Cheers is a fairly common valediction on e-mails sent by academicians and is often picked up by grad students almost instantly, to say nothing of Brits, Aussies and Canadians. I guess there’s not much overlap between the U. Colorado’s faculty and graduate students (or expat communities in Colorado from other parts of the Anglosphere) and Rotkovich’s clientele or he’d not have thought it strange, much less “very, very strange”

Really? This is an issue regarding this psycho?

I say "cheers" all the time while having adult beverages with friends. This is just dumb a** stupid.

There will always be psycho's and the more reason that more citizens should be allowed to carry. Guns will never ever disappear as much as the unrealistic Brady crowd want to pass laws to outlaw guns.

They could shut down American gun manufacturing tomorrow and guns and ammo will STILL be available, if not from American gun manufacturers, then from out country imports, not to mention the millions of guns that already exist, and not to mention the probably billions of rounds of ammo.

Need I say it? Guess I should, "If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns". Just a couple of people, even in the fog of his tear gas could have at least given some people time to escape.

This is another awful tragedy, but how can anyone know when a psychopathic nut job goes ballistic? Best defense is defense, with the weapon of choice.

Yes, I've seen all the discussions from gun experts and the thinking about not being able to see the shooter. So what? If I had a CCW and been in that theater, I would have shove my wife under the seats, moved away, and shot at the muzzle blast. If just one person got away when he targeted me and I went down - good.
