BYERS, Colo. – Less than a month before carrying out the midnight movie massacre that left 12 dead, suspected shooter James Holmes applied for membership at a private gun range, unnerving the club’s owner whose calls to Holmes’ apartment reached a “creepy, weird” Batman-inspired voicemail message.

“His answering machine message was incoherent, just bizarre, really bizarre -- slurring words, but he didn’t sound drunk, just strange -- I could make out “James” somewhere in it,” Glenn Rotkovich, of the Lead Valley Range, in Byers, Colo., told

“I said, ‘Yes, this looks like it’s him,’” Rotkovich recalled. “Too many coincidences for it not to be him.”

In reading the article, it seems Mr. Rotkovich did a better job of determining the right person than Brian Ross did. It's not that hard if you really want to...

The one-line email to which he attached the application concluded with a curt and businesslike sentence signed in a way that further put off the rural Colorado gun range proprietor: “Cheers, James,” according to a copy obtained by FoxNews.com. "That also struck me as very, very strange,” Rotkovich said. “Who says ‘Cheers?’”

Uh.....

.... a lot of people?

Cheers,

Laz

The term “cheers” is something that you pick up with the European base. A lot of Americans who spend years in Germany or the UK....end up using the expression a good bit. I used to work with a guy in my office who made twenty phone calls a day....and typically ended the call with “cheers” every single time.

I noted the kid played soccer a lot...so I’m guessing he picked up various European terms while hanging around the field.

Think it is time to hear from his family or 'physician'. . .

Why did his Mother, confirm so readily; that this monster Joker; could well be her son. When did the 'split' begin?

And yes, for sure; was he 'aided' and abetted along the way; per this entire scenario.

Is schizohrenia and 'neuro science' a bad combination? Seems there is a threshold here; am wondering what is was; or whom. Maybe, only the 'Joker'; his guide; or, maybe not.

(Do wonder when the pic taken - with Holmes red hair, blazing.)

Seems to me that the “Gun Lobby” figured this guy out pretty quickly. It’s tragic that our “finest” could not do the same.

The gun range owner must be Ron Swanson.

Rotkovich planned to vet Holmes in person before he would be allowed to step on the range and pick up a weapon, let alone become a member.

We need to put him in charge of vetting presidential candidates and foreigners wanting flying lessons.

The slurring and withdraw from society really beginning to back up schizophrenia as a reason.

I’m certain Laz’s “Cheers” would be better received in the intermountain west than answering the phone with “moshi moshi” after spending some time in Japan.

How about we let him run airport security. Maybe then some of us could return to flying.

The slurring was probably an attempt to impersonate that Joker persona.
