Since the George Zimmerman shooting of Trayvon Martin, Sunshine State gun laws have come under scrutiny. But, Florida senior Samuel Williams, by shooting two goons during an Internet cafe robbery, has made a pretty good case for the right to carry concealed firearms.
Williams, 70, was minding his own business at the Palms Internet Cafe, in Marion County, when two thugs burst in, looking to rob the establishment. One of the suspects, 19-year-old Duwayne Henderson, brandished a gun, and the other guy was wielding a bat.
Of course, the other patrons were absolutely terrified. But, not Williams. When suspect Henderson turned his back, the Florida senior pulled a .380 semi-automatic gun, and started firing away at the crooks.
At this point, it looks like Williams, a licensed conceal carry owner, won't face any charges. Frankly, the man deserves a medal. If more law-abiding citizens owned firearms, and knew how to properly use them, there would be far less violence on the streets. Some people are predicting the Florida senior will now become a Second Amendment poster boy.
The statistics don't lie. The zip codes with the strictest gun laws, also have the highest numbers of rapes and murders. More firearms equals less crime.

But I don't think she was ever in the line of fire, so long as she didn't suddenly jump to her left. The old guy was very concentrated and had a good Weaver stance. And the robber's gun was pointed at him, even though the robber's attention was diverted.
Looks like a good shoot to me, and the DA seems to agree.
The slimeball's argument that he was down and therefore no threat is bogus. Plenty of people have been shot by a wounded felon returning fire. You keep on shooting until you're sure the threat is over.
FMJ is for ranges.

You’re right. I was prepared to fault the guy until someone reminded me that shooting a running target while running was pretty impressive shooting.
I think the only one at risk were the bad guys. God Bless that concerned citizen. We need more like him!
Got that right. Girlfriend and I were just discussing that very thing. We both pack Glock 30's (.45 ACP); kickass little beasties. Those assholes would NOT have crawled, run away. They'd be pushing up daisies while donning Trayvon t-shirts by now.

Re my post, I went to the other thread and no one was contending that they weren’t a threat. Tactical criticisms, like the proximity of patrons, not sure I can determine that from the video though his line of fire lookes clear to me, and firing as they fled, a crime many places since the threat has ended, are legitimate.
I disagree that the threat is ended just because the goblins are headed for the door. If the guy still has a gun (he dropped it, but Williams may not have seen that) he can shoot while running away. And while his partner had a bat, he might also have a gun.
Under the circumstances, I think the shot fired at the door was understandable. You have two guys doing a lot of moving around, and you don't know if they're scrambling to their feet to run away or to return fire, especially if they turn while getting to their feet.
And if you hold your fire and you are wrong, they could kill you. I'm not giving them that courtesy when they started it.

James Bond was a pussy compared to this guy — he never had to face Trayvons and Duwaynes.
Actually in the Bond novels, he uses a .32 caliber PPK after M took his .25 caliber Beretta away from him.
You are correct. And, furthermore, we need to get over the guilt of some guy getting shot or dying during the commission of a violent crime. Perps need to know that people are armed and willing to defend themselves and others. Don’t come in to a place with a weapon and try to rob people. If you get shot, tough.
It is not the responsibility of government to provide perps with a safe environment in which to prey on other people.

One of the first high quality guns I bought when I was young was a Browning Hi-Power. I got it in 1969. At that time it was hard to find much performance ammo. The local hardware stores carried only 115 and 124 grain fmj bullets.
I did buy a few boxes of Super Vel 90 grain JHPs. I still have a partial box somewhere around. It may have been the hottest commercial load ever. I had the unpleasant job of putting down several diseased dogs.
I wanted to do it humanely and used those little 90 grain buzz bombs. I have never seen anything perform like that even including .44 magnums. The poor dogs were dead when they hit the ground. They didn’t even twitch or move. Those bullets must have done massive internal damage.
I suspect they would have been an effective load for protection against human thugs.

Yep, I liked the way Williams did the fire-and-advance thing, several times. I wonder if there's some training in his past, beyond the usual CCW stuff.
As for the bystander, I was more concerned that she'd walk into a gunshot fired at Williams by the fleeing perp. She's lucky that the old fellow kept the heat on them hard, compelling the armed thug to retreat rather than shoot it out.
You can bet that Benjamin Crump or one of his associates chased these ambulances. No doubt in my mind.
