Drudge Exclusive: ROMNEY NARROWS VP CHOICES; CONDI EMERGES AS FRONTRUNNER
Drudge Report ^ | Thursday, July 12, 2012

Posted on 07/12/2012 4:37:05 PM PDT by kristinn

**Exclusive**

Late Thursday evening, Mitt Romney's presidential campaign launched a new fundraising drive, 'Meet The VP' -- just as Romney himself has narrowed the field of candidates to a handful, sources reveal.

And a surprise name is now near the top of the list: Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice!

The timing of the announcement is now set for 'coming weeks'.

MORE

It was Condi who received two standing ovations at Romney's Utah retreat a few weeks ago, and everyone left with her name on their lips.

Rice made an extended argument for American leadership in the world.

A black female? It will never happen. This is just hype to make him seem non-sexist and to downplay the institutional racism of the LDS church.

"I guess Romney figured that the pick-up in people like my wife’s friends more than offset the loss of the FR vote."

You nailed it. Romney could not care less about the opinion of any conservative voter. He is a socialist. He wants to round up as much of the socialist vote as he can gather. He can't win if they all want to vote for Obama. So he is trying to find ways to chip away at the democrat party's liberals, and make it easier for them to feel good about voting for a RINO.

As for the conservatives, the ones who know him well won't vote for him anyway. The ones who don't know anything about him except that he's a republican, will vote for him and get a huge surprise later, just like the ones who believe he is just pretending to be a liberal to get elected and the ones who think they can hold his feet to the fire. All of those people are in for a surprise. The ones who just want to win, just want to get Obama out, may or may not be happy. Their happiness will depend on how socialist they really are deep down because Mitt will eventually give us all the full socialist monty.

I like Michelle Bachmann but she was too easily fooled when she was shown Obama's first fake birth certificate on national TV and her response was "well, that settles it then".

Like Paul Ryan, Bachmann's more valuable where she is now.

OMG. I was just trying to get myself to choke down the idea of Romeny-Condi would completely turn me off and I would stay home. I don’t care what anyone else says or does.

I like Condi but I think Romney would be better off with a Hispanic VP if he wants to win the presidency.

Rice will not work. Don't like her that much myself. I would prefer Susana Martinez Gov. of New Mexico if he goes with a woman.

Although you might disagree with her stance on "choice" or her concept of "best interests" of the USA, you can't deny her being exceptional.

Sorry. I don't consider any abortionist to be 'exceptional'. If you can't get life right, nothing else really matters.

I like Condi, she is a smart cookie....

But this is a Red Herring. It is easy bait that will force the Progressives to yell “Bush, Bush, Bush” not knowing that the “Blame bush gun” is empty.

Its not Condi

Mitt was getting some pressure from GOP Senators who IMHO shoudl shut up about the VP pick, they are not the presumptive GOP canidate, not their decision. This could be tossed out to shut them up.

IMHO things are going well, the Obama Campaign is looking more and more desperate each day.

The VP will likely be Susana Martinez, she will fit in perfectly with Romney...a Dem before she was a "republican"....

Or it will be Brian Sandoval, elected Governor of Nevada. He was appointed United States District Judge for the District of Nevada by President George W. Bush in October 2005, becoming the state's first Hispanic federal judge.

I’m still picturing the moment after her speech when the nominee’s spouse and kids come on stage with them. Would she just stand there by herself?

What about the balloon drop? Would it just be Mitt, Ann, and her? Kind of awkward with only 3 people.

Anyway, he’s not picking a pro-choice, pro-aff action, pro-amnesty Obama voter.

Respectfully, that’s not true. I’m Hispanic and my ancestors settled into New Mexico (then New Spain) more than 500 years ago from Spain. I’m going to vote Republican regardless of the VP, but legal Hispanics are the fastest-growing demographic and we need to educate them on our ideas. A large percentage who have lived here for generations, don’t approve of amnesty or open borders but sympathize with children caught up by their parent’s choices—highlighted in Rubio’s plan to address the problem. Hispanics are the largest legal “minority” group, larger than blacks and growing the fastest of any group.

My people got here in 1904. Take all Hispanics living here for many generations. I'll bet not more than 2% got into America before 1904. In fact just about all Hispanics/Mexicans etc got here after World War two. You are the rare exception. Yes I am aware of "The Border Crossed US" Hispanics who ended up in America after 1848

And I don't sympathize with Marco Rubio, his parents got here pre-Castro and they were not American citizens when he was born so he cannot be a valid vice-Presidente. You want an illegal immigration magnet than pass a Dream Act and do what Obama did as far as enacting much of it via executive order

Romney is NOT listening. We do not need TWO RINOs at the top of the ticket. Condi was a good secretary of state...save that, or a different job, for her. This is SO exasperating!

Chill out. Drudge mentions no source for this. Most likely this is nonsense.

I’m Hispanic and my ancestors settled into New Mexico (then New Spain) more than 500 years ago from Spain.

Amen, you tell 'em. This is why the whole "race" thing is a bunch of crap. If you saw photos of my great-great grandfather, you'd never in a gazillion years picture him as having red-haired, blue-eyed, freckled descendents. IMO, the whole "hispanic" and "black" and "Asian" and "Native American" and all the rest of that crap is just that -- crap that serves zero purpose but to distort and deceive.

We are all flesh and blood, skin and bone, love and hope.

I get disgusted when folks immediately assume anybody who looks Mexican or South-of-the-Border, is an illegal. And it's all the more ludicrous because a LOT of folks south of the border are white skinned and blue eyed and every bit as damned "Hispanic" as the soft-brown dark-eyed folks like my great great grandfather.

It's all a bunch of horse crap. I'm proud to FReep with an AMERICAN of European descent whose ancestors were here before the British. Vet, you beat the Mayflower -- and also, thanks for your service.

I agree that your mini-focus group of friends of your wife probably mirrors what the Romney pollsters are seeing.

There would be tons of upside with the one-third of voters who are independents and little downside except with social conservatives who already hate Romney.

There are still lots of PUMAs smarting over how Barry treated Hillary. Also, single women are Romney's worst demographic except for Blacks, and peeling off even a few percentage points there would kill Barry's chances.

Note that the Arpaio Posse findings will be announced this Tuesday, July 17 and if Trump signs on, Romney will be accused of racism by association. What better way to inoculate against the racist charge than to have Condi in the bullpen warming up for the VP slot, even if Romney doesn't ultimately pull the trigger.

Condi is THE PERFECT choice, IMHO.

She KNOWS her stuff, can toss bombs with Pelosi EASILY, has a very limited tolerance for bulls**t and non-performance.

She’s FEMALE, she’s BLACK, and she is a REPUBLICAN. You can call her a RINO if you like, but I don’t, and never have.

She is EVERYTHING that Obama is not, and unlike Sarah PAlin, any leftist attacks can be called “Racist” thanks to the media setting that bar in 2008.

If you really wanted to throw people off, you'd selectively leak Rice to Drudge, and then in a couple of days name Christie. People would be wiping their brows *phew* not that Bush babe.

If the base doesn't realize that our country hangs in the balance (so as to stay home on election day), then we are already doomed.

No we're not. We're only doomed if the base stays home and refuses to vote.

We need to give them a pro-life conservative. The base already distrusts/despises Romney. These are the same folks who wouldn't pull a lever for Giuliani if the choice was Rudy vs. Stalin.
