Condoleeza Rice? I thought she had no interest in the office. She would make liberal heads explode however and she’s very smart—even though I don’t agree with everything she believes in re. foreign policy.

Allen West is my choice as well..but I’d also be happy with Scott Walker or Paul Ryan. Romney better be VERY careful with this pick!

Condi would be a mistake.

There'd be no chance for a conservative president for the next 8 years.

At best, total misdirection.

At worst, it's a trial balloon and a feint to gauge Bobo's reactions.

For now, it's still Rubio.

Romney’s choice for VP?

Romney.

That way he’ll have both sides of every issue covered.

Condi Rice? BIG mistake. Because of things like this...

Rice compares Palestianians to blacks in the Jim Crow south

Questions:

What does Rice bring to the ticket if chosen?

As compared to Gov Martinez?

I like Gov Martinez because she has some executive experience running the show. She hispanic which would energize the hispanic base towards Republicans. She has a great bio.

Rice seems to me to have a lot of good qualifications, but her time as SoS did not turn out so good, imo, iirc

GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS, HOST: No — well, that — but on the other hand, Van Jones, maybe he does, and this is picking up on the other points you all were making as to avoid a — any pick that looks transparently political and calculated, that could be his biggest problem.

VAN JONES, FORMER OBAMA ADVISER: I think that’s right. And one thing I think is interesting is, if you want to do something shocking, you want the tea party base excited, nobody has talked about Condoleezza Rice.

But think about this. She checks off a lot of boxes, as far as women, she’s a person of color, if the optics matter. But she’s actually tested. She is actually a national figure. She has foreign policy experience. She was secretary of state. And she’s sitting there.

Now people say, you know, you want to do something bold, put Condoleezza Rice on the ticket and watch the Obama campaign go crazy.

ANN COULTER: Not a chance. Too much like a Sarah Palin. It will not be a woman.

No way, trust me.

She’s not going to run for elected office, period.

Definitely could be in line for an appointed position though.

This is just the campaign throwing it out there, to see the general reaction, for internal reasons.

Just like Bush and “can’t we all get along”...he’ll nominate Condi Rice, as he tells the conservatives “screw you!”

I’ll tell you what.

If Robamney picks Rice, I’m definitely voting third party.

I am sick of these liberals pandering to minorities (liberal minorities) for votes so that they can get elected and enact liberal policies.

People should read this article from Brett Stephens of the Wall Street Journal entitled: Anyone But Condi. A tempting but unwise choice for Romney's vice president.

In the end i seriously doubt he’ll pick Rice. For what does she bring? Would she help pick up a battleground state? Would she win blacks over to Romney? Blacks never gave GWB any credit for picking Rice as the first black female Secretary of State. Would she help with women? Feminists never gave McCain any credit for picking a female running mate who would have been the first woman VP. Mostly she would remind people of the GWB years and the media and the White House would play up that angle all day every day. And what’s more, would it rally conservatives around the ticket? Not likely considering her position on abortion.
