Although Romney cannot allow MSM foibles to dictate his choice, I DO think that he needs to pick a VP nominee who can pass the (silly) “Palin Test” of the sort administered by Katie Couric.
Not fair that this is the case, but I think that it is: VP must be ALREADY READY to do the “name the capital of Kreplach-i-stan” things that Palin, initially and unfairly, was asked to do.

I think she would be great but I don’t see it happening. She is better off being a governor in an otherwise liberal state where her popularity is strong.
