NAACP leader accuses Romney of favoring white people after speech
Daily Caller ^ | 07/11/2012 | Alex Pappas

The response from one NAACP leader after Mitt Romney’s speech before the organization on Wednesday? He favors white people.

“I believe his vested interests are in white Americans,” Charlette Stoker Manning, the chairwoman of Women in NAACP, told the website BuzzFeed following the Republican candidate’s Wednesday speech in Houston.

“You cannot possibly talk about jobs for black people at the level he’s coming from. He’s talking about entrepreneurship, savings accounts — black people can barely find a way to get back and forth from work,” Manning said.

Romney was booed at several points throughout his speech — the loudest being when Romney spoke of his desire to see “Obamacare” repealed. The Republican also received applause at times throughout the speech, notably for saying he’d protect traditional marriage.

In his speech, he argued that a Romney administration would better serve African-American voters.

“If you want a president who will make things better in the African-American community, you are looking at him,” Romney said.

In a statement released Wednesday afternoon, the NAACP thanked Romney for addressing the convention but stressed they disagree with his policies.

“While we are glad that Governor Romney recognized the power of the black electorate, he laid out an agenda that was antithetical to many of our interests,” said NAACP President Benjamin Todd Jealous.

What disgusting attitude by NAACP! They are the new slave owners, keeping the A-A's down in economic status.

Here is the story of immigrants who arrive with no money and prosper in America...

Ah yes, the concept that someone else owes you a living.

Since certain people figured out that Voting is easier than Robbing, and safer to boot, they have decided that they are no longer responsible for themselves.

As far as the Racist Hate Group NAALCP is concerned
Whitey will owe them until the end of time.

Not always true that legal immigrants arrive with money.

See article in post #41.

You know,I think I just heard this “black leader” say that black people were too stupid to hold jobs. Why on Earth do any black folks listen to these cretins?

“How is it that Asians, who don’t even speak English, can come to this country and start successful businesses?”

Lol! Don’t confuse them with the facts;)

If I were Romney, my speech to the NAACP would be something like this:

“I am not here today to speak to you, you are an irrelevant organization whose purpose has long ceased to exist....today I am speaking to the vast majority of black people in this country that have had their voices shouted down by the likes of you, as if you were the only voice for all black people in this country....”

Any amplification of this comment would only be considered stereotyping.

So the millions of blacks who work at municipal, county, state, federal government, non-goverment organizations, school districts, area education agencies and the postal service can’t afford to get back-and-forth to work? Most of them make more money than the average white in the private sector, plus have Cadillac benefits and great pensions! All the millions of black professionals, paraprofessionals and factory workers can’t get to work? What country does this individual live in?

Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and intelligence.

Three distinct characteristics that one group has and the other does not.

“black people can barely find a way to get back and forth from work,” Manning said.”

And until the NAACP stands for individual responsibility....this will continue.

NAACP.....The new slave Lords....how proud they must be.

It is now time for the:

National Association for the Advancement of Colored Challenged People.......NAACCP!

There are many black people in this country that do have those characteristics, but they are shunned by the media, and ridiculed as not “keepin’ it real”. But they are out there.

"They chose to follow the path of DuBois, which is socialism."

Correct. I was speaking to a young man recently about Dr. Thomas Sowell's book "Black Rednecks and White Liberals" and although he knew of DuBois, he had never heard of Tom Sowell.

Instead of all of the accolades that are heaped towards Martin Luther King and Malcolm X, it should have gone to brilliant men, like Booker T. Washington and George Washington Carver, these men should be the standard bearers for blacks in this country.

“Even college educated blacks are delusional...
The schools are almost worthless... for people of any race.. at least the teachers are...”

The racial intimidation climate is such that professors pass blacks to avoid being targeted for retaliation. Because of the lowered standards, there is no doubt that there is a big difference between a college degree on a black person’s resume and that on a white man’s resume. If they don’t want to have this judged so, they should fight to be treated as equals rather than as less-evolved pets.

Yes, I agree with that completely, but I’d have to say that overall, it’s very rare.

I spent 13 years living inside the city of New Orleans, and I do not even know how to describe the people that I saw there.

It’s hard to even think of words that actually describe how they were. All the words I am thinking of are extremely negative, but they fail to fully encompass the behavior I saw there.

It is a place I will never set foot in again as long as I live so help me God.

It is high time the Republican candidates found a better “black” organization to address. As long as they show up to be jeered by the permanent underclass, Eric Holder is right: we are cowards when it comes to discussing race.

the Mexicans don't seem to have a problem finding a way to and from work.

Q: How many Mexicans can you fit into the back of a truck?
A: One more.

“You cannot possibly talk about jobs for black people at the level he’s coming from. He’s talking about entrepreneurship, savings accounts — black people can barely find a way to get back and forth from work,” Manning said.

Romney should respond - something like this:

I wonder what Ms. Manning would have to say if I, or any other Republican, came out and said that we should not be encouraging entrepreneurship or savings in the black community, as we should be focusing on things like helping them get back and forth from work!

Certainly, if I heard any of my fellow Republicans say something like that, I would be the first to step up to condemn this comment as being patronizing, outrageous, degrading, and yes, racist.

However, as Ms. Manning has a lifetime of work advocating for Blacks and other minorities, I will be more generous in my reply. Clearly, her prejudice was not against the people she serves, but against either me and/or the conservative principles which I articulated. So I think in her haste to say something critical, she just chose her words poorly, and did not intend to insult or diminish the people she is supposed to represent.

I'm sure that, upon reflection, Ms. Manning would welcome any efforts by federal or state governments to promote entrepreneurship and savings in her community, and has likely even supported similar efforts in the past when such proposals were made by Democrats.

"The vast majority of blacks are incapable of independent thinking when it comes to politics."

I agree, but it's not because they are black. Here is my theory.

The blacks exposure to liberalism has caused brain damage, just it does to anyone if they are exposed in formative stages of life. Liberalism works to destroy and corrupt parts of the language center of the brain. This results in greatly impaired reasoning capability. This damage is permanent in most cases. I am not being sarcastic. The liberal blacks as well as all liberal believers are actually the victims of a systematic and targeted lowering of their intellectual abilities. The perpetrators of this damage (the leftist deceivers) in most cases have no idea of the mechanism of their craft. They just know that it produces the results that they desire.

I have simple anecdotal proof of this if anyone is interested.
