Holder compares Texas voter ID law to post slavery poll taxes (Obama admin. plays another race card)

Attorney General Eric Holder on Tuesday compared the new Texas voter ID law to the post-slavery efforts to keep blacks from voting known as a “poll taxes.”

The law was passed last year by the GOP-led state legislature, then signed by Gov. Rick Perry, in an effort to curb voter fraud.

In a speech at the annual NAACP conference, in Houston, Holder said many voters would have to travel “great distances” to get a government-issued photo ID and that some would “struggle” to pay for the requisite paperwork.

“We call these poll taxes,” Holder said.

He also said the Texas law hurts minorities and that politics is the driving force behind the issue.

Holder called Texas the “center of our national debate” on voting rights issues and vowed the Justice Department would “aggressively” fight to enforce those rights.

So, to keep this in prospective....all of these people who lack a photo ID....have a bigger problem. They can’t buy booze because if the clerk asks for an ID...they are screwed. If they look young, they can’t buy cigerettes. They can’t walk through a airport because TSA will ask for an ID and a ticket. They can’t get anything much accomplished at the Social Security Administration office. They can’t cash checks, or open bank accounts. They can’t join the US military. They can’t get narcotic drugs at the pharmacy. They can’t get a business license. They will have trouble registering a car. They will have trouble registering at any major city for a rally, protest or parade. They probably won’t be able to stand on any jurty duty. If they get stopped by a cop....even for jay-walking....they will have a tough time. They probably will have trouble getting a marriage license, or getting divorced. They can’t rent cars at the airport. They won’t be able to cross the border into Mexico or Canada. And in some states, they won’t be able to get a hunting license.

Basically, it’s a pretty tough life to live....without the photo ID, and you better have a plan “B”.

Is Holder saying whites don’t have to have a photo ID? Or Asians? Or white Hispanics? Holders needs to dump the chip on his shoulder ...

They probably will have trouble getting a marriage license, or getting divorced.

Speaking as someone that been divorced 3 times, I can assure you that no ID is required. Cold, hard cash suffices.

But I'm not bitter.

The NFA is a poll tax too Mr. Holder. Either repeal the NFA or we’re taking it out in court. If we lose, so do you as we’ll have grounds to apply fees to ALL Civil Rights. Is this something you REALLY want to happen?

Think about it hard. It’s coming soon!

OK!

Someone has explain to me how it is that someone has to have proof to register to vote would be unable to provide said proof at the voting booth??

Anyone?

This smacks of political grand standing!

The ONLY reason Democrats are against voter ID laws lies in the fact that they rely heavily on illegal aliens, cats, dogs, the dead, and martians to pad their ranks at election time. That and only that is what this is all about.

Got a link ? I thought this was so too but a quick look at DMV says the ID fee is the same as for a drivers' license.

Looks to me that you don't even need to prove citizenship in TX anyway, last four of SSN will do - and legal aliens will have that as well as citizens: All voters who registered to vote in Texas must provide a Texas driver's license number or personal identification number issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety or the last four digits of your social security number.

It’s written in the new picture ID law that it is free. This law hasn’t taken effect yet since Holder has the law in court. The ID info. you are reading doesn’t require a picture ID.

I’m sorry but the Race Card company called. Your race card was declined, and I cut it up into itty bitty pieces.

Is the Department of Motor Vehicles or the Public Library racist? How about the Airlines? How about the store where you buy your beer or cigarettes? They all require identification. What nonsense!
