Swing-State Voters' Enthusiasm Matches Voters' Nationally (Romney votes much more enthusiastic)

PRINCETON, NJ -- Voters in this year's key election battleground states are similar to registered voters nationally in the enthusiasm they express about voting in the 2012 presidential election. Just under half of swing-state voters, 46%, as well as 43% of national voters, report feeling extremely or very enthusiastic about voting.

Trend in Enthusiasm for 2012 Election -- Swing-State vs. U.S. Voters

The new results are from the USA Today/Gallup Swing States poll, conducted June 22-29 as part of Gallup Daily tracking with 1,200 registered voters in 12 states where the presidential race is expected to be closely contested: Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Enthusiasm among all U.S. voters was 48% last October and rose to 52% in January as the Republican primaries kicked off, but then dropped to 42% in March. It has since remained at about this level. Swing-state voters' enthusiasm has been flat at 46% to 48% since last fall, except for the same temporary uptick in January.

The resulting three- to four-percentage-point gap between U.S. and swing-state voters' enthusiasm since March is not large, but may in fact be real, given the consistency with which it has appeared in the last three surveys.

Specifically, about a quarter of voters in swing states and nationally are extremely enthusiastic about voting this year, and another 21% of each are very enthusiastic. One-quarter say they are somewhat enthusiastic, while roughly 30% are either not too or not at all enthusiastic.

He might be a RINO, but he’s our RINO.

I’m not at all enthusiastic about Romney.

But I am very enthusiastic about seeing Obama resoundingly defeated and publicly humiliated in November.

“He might be a RINO, but he’s our RINO.”

That is not a good thing. That’s tantamount to saying he might be a socialist but he’s “our” socialist... This is the mindset that has pushed the GOP so F’ing far leftward that its unrecognizable from the democrat party of only 15 years ago.

Apparently you are comfortable with supporting a socialist but only as long as hes a member of the “Dallas cowboys” instead of the “Washington Redskins” (”team” names changed to make a point, we are all aware that the real team names are democrats / Republicans).

The swing demographic that pushed for Romney was primarily white and senior.

That is also a major component of the Free Republic demo.

So anti-Romney can only go so far here.

I was not with this majority.

But now have to respect and support it.

No. You dont have to support it.

Romney may get the nomination but only because the conservatives didn’t coalesce around one candidate. And... Because romney was pushed HARD by the progressives in the GOP who, by the way, are FAR more influential than they should be.

However, Im not content to say this is why something awful is about to happen, then support the awful thing as it happens. I would rather do ANYTHING WITHIN THE RULES to change that awful fate. Which means dumping romneys ass (and the asses of his progressive cadre) during the convention. While it may be difficult to do, its possible, to do NOTHING about this is to equivalent to supporting transforming the GOP into another wing of the socialist party.

Talk about bias in a header. Romney voters are much more enthusiastic? Four point equates to that? The enthusiasm gap is within the margin of error in the poll.

It's scary the margin isn't higher given what a failure the Obama Presidency has been.

Just think what the enthusiasm gap would be if a conservative were the Republican nominee.

You know what I think? No, not think, I know. I know you really cannot grasp the importance of dumping the Marxist in the WH and getting control of the Congress back.

Many of the folks here, too many, are similarly clueless regarding the importance of getting this president out of power NOW. So you didn’t get the candidate you wanted, neither did I. Man up already and do what’s right for the greater good of America NOW instead taking your football and going home, giving the election to Ostupid.

Im WELL aware of the importance of this election... AND of the fact that we are on the verge of giving ourselves a NO WIN scenario...

I fault people like you not necessarily on your commitment to individual freedom/ liberty/ etc... But instead on your flat out REFUSAL to put any depth of thought into what it actually means to nominate a socialist as the GOP candidate AND give the “progressives” (socialists) within the GOP even MORE power and influence over the GOP.

Sure Zero and the socialists in the democrat party are a well known danger, but so is Romney and the socialists in the GOP. It doesn’t matter what “colors” a socialist “plays” under, they all play for the same “team”. Socialism.

If Romney walks out of the convention with the nomination, then wins the presidency. WE ARE F’ing SCREWED. By “we” I mean those of us who want what the founders of this nation wanted. By electing a socialist to president as a republican you will have effectively castrated the only party capable of mounting an opposition to the socialist agenda. That opposition will be gone.

Zero returning as president will be a F’ing nightmare and we may not survive it as a union of states. HOWEVER... The GOP becoming a wing of the socialist party is an extinction level event.

Bullshit!! Romney is as much a “Socialist” as I am. He’s a RINO, I’ll give you that but he’s is the nominee and if you cannot see the importance of getting the asswipe in the WH OUT of there then you and others like you are complicit in what happens should we fail.

You and the others like you need to pull your collective heads out of your asses and do a bit of strategic thinking instead of just considering the next year or two. We need the WH AND THE SENATE BOTH and without the WH the chances of us getting the Senate are reduced and if we don’t get a big enough majority to over ride a presidential veto (which we won’t even if we win the Senate) then we are wasting our time.

This all or nothing attitude of you people who have to have the perfect Conservative will bring this country to ruin. In politics you try for the best you can envision and then you take what is given you and make the best of it and prepare to do better next time. This is what I mean when I say you are not thinking strategically.

WTF?

Romney declared HIMSELF a F’ing PROGRESSIVE!

I didnt just make this sh— up!

Its not like I decided to work against the GOP candidate after DECADES of supporting the GOP... Just for sh—s and giggles...

Romney is a socialist. The GOP-e are socialists. Either they are purged from the GOP or we lose.

I dont know about you, but for me, the status quo is UNSATISFACTORY!

NO MORE RINOS!!!

And as far as thinking strategically...

Its folks like me that ARE thinking strategically and LONG game... We MUST purge the GOP of socialists if we ever HOPE to take on the socialists in the democrat party. Decades of following YOUR version of strategery has gotten us a GOP on the verge of nominating a SELF DECLARED socialist as its candidate for president...

Wrong. Before a wound can heal you must stop the bleeding. Obama must go, THAT is job 1. We must get the Senate, that is job 2. After we do those 2 things we work hard to have the reps push Romney right. Since legislation and all spending comes from the Congress he will be able to accomplish little without the Congress.

With the bleeding stopped and Obama gone we start working for a better and much more Conservative candidate for next time whether that be in 4 years or wight years.

I am not responsible for RINOS’ being in office. I did not vote for Romney in the primary but he is the nominee and now is when the strategic thinking comes. See beginning of this reply.
