MOBILE, Alabama -- The fatal gun shot that cut down a single mother of two Saturday night occurred in front of her teenage daughter, family members said today.
The daughter, who asked that her name not be used, said she was standing in her front yard when her mother, Wendy Fisher, ran across the street to retrieve their dog.
Fisher yelled at a passing car to slow down because it nearly hit the pet, the daughter said. At that point a black man with short hair got out of the car, she said.
The daughter said she is not sure if he or one of the two or three other men inside the vehicle fired 3 shots. The man who exited the car was wearing blue jeans and a light T-shirt, she said.

I think it’s a false assumption that Z should not have exited his vehicle. What kind of a world is it if we can not exit our vehicles in our own neighborhood? It is a gated, middle class, multi-racial neighborhood that posts that there is a watch.

I wasn’t there, but everything I hear suggests that Z was on his way back to his car at the suggestion of the dispatcher and Trayvon approached from the rear and initiated the altercation, first verbally and then physically. A 6’1” football player is quite capable of serious bodily harm.

Last time I was in New Orleans I was driving down Rampart St and about 20 youths jay walked across from Armstrong park toward the French Quarter. I kept my distance otherwise they would have walked across the hood of my car or worse.. I image that you wouldn’t get a fair trial for running down their youths.
That cube illustrates something I’ve been thinking about for a while. I read one time that traffic engineers have a term for patterns where there is very slow traffic and very fast traffic. They call it “friction”. I think of this when I drive to work at 6:00 in the morning through downtown and see “zombies” roaming the streets. A half block down the road I’ll see a yuppie out for thier morning jog. The contrasts could not be any more different. Every time I see this I think, “one day this will not end well”. “Friction” is what this looks like to me.
Unfortunately moving, for a variety of reasons, is not an option for me. I am well armed any time I leave my house, and I am prepped about as well as I can be for my situation.

I think you find similar “spinelessness” in the larger cities of the South, but not in the smaller cities and rural areas.
Although in smaller cities and towns in the South, there is a lot of black crime....but you do not see it so much against whites or in their neighborhoods. You just do not have the White Guilt Liberalism in smaller cities and towns in the South

There’s a big difference here, between being a good witness and being the victim in danger of serious bodily harm if not death. All witnesses in this case were safely ensconced in their nearby homes.
If Z had stayed in the car, he would have remained no more than a witness.
“Be a good witness” means to stay out of the action and be a witness. It does not mean engage, follow or do anything that causes involvement.
Z is the perfect example of what can happen to persons who try to play cop.

The question is whether Zimmerman by his behavior caused Martin to think that he was about to be mugged or worse.

Never happened -- the vehicle was parked, Martin saw that he was being watched and ran away. Watching someone is not a crime and neither is running, though it is suspicious as the NEN operator indicated that night.
Martin is a street guy who sees all the signs of a beat down so he goes on the offensive.
That makes him the aggressor, the instigator, the offendor, the bad guy right there by your own admission.
Zimmerman is not a hero.

The NEN dispatcher told him to watch the suspicious person and tell her what he is doing, and when he runs the dispatcher asks him which way he is running and where is he going??? Doesn't sound to me like the dispatcher is saying just sit there in your car and be a good little boy and hide under a blanket til help arrives.
Most states make it clear that to claim self defense you must not have instigated the violence.

Zimmerman is 5'7" short slow obese who can't run 50 feet without being winded. Martin was 6'2" lean mean fast fighting machine. Do you really think Zimmerman wanted a confrontation with him???
Yet Martin's girlfriend says that Martin had run home, and then turned around and went back to confront Zimmerman. Why did he do that if he was so frightened???
The facts are that Martin started the fight with the first punch, continued the punching even when he had his muggee on the ground at a disadvantage, would not stop his assault even when his muggee was calling out for help, even to the point of putting his hands over his mouth to keep him from breathing, and would not stop until he was shot.
Those are the facts from the evidence and eyewitness testimony.

He didn't "play cop" by any account. Following someone on a public street isn't illegal. For all TM knew, he wanted to ask him for a joint. GZ never "confronted" TM, only the other way around.
What is illegal is punching someone and then bashing his head against concrete. If you do that and then get shot, tough.
All the actual evidence so far support GZ's story, we'll see how that holds up during the trial - that is if O'Mara does a halfway decent job.
And pretty soon after he walks away, the cops will arrive and arrest you for a felony.
If convicted you won't own any more guns legally for the rest of your life.

If Zimmerman could predict the future, I am sure he would not have left his vehicle. Since he couldn’t predict the future, checking out a suspicious character is neither bad judgment or in any way racist.
I have been on both sides of this transaction (checking and being checked out by a local) several times and because neither of us was a hot head or a predator, the conversations always ended with, “y’all have a nice evening.” Not with an assault and a gunshot.
If found guilty, should the daughter of the murdered woman have the option to sentence the perp’s mother? Of course not, but if it were a legal option, there would probably be less criminal spawn.
