Obamacare Democrats Find Themselves in GOP Crosshairs

The Supreme Court’s decision to uphold Obamacare puts a number of Senate Democrats who voted for the healthcare overhaul and are seeking re-election in the crosshairs of the GOP.

Of the 60 Democrats and independents that voted to approve President Barack Obama’s healthcare law, 15 are up for re-election this year. The GOP needs to pick up four seats to take control of the Senate should Obama win re-election; three should Mitt Romney win, as his GOP vice president would break the tie.

Of those seeking re-election, the GOP’s best chance for pickups are most likely in Florida, Missouri, Montana, Ohio and Michigan.

Republican candidates were leading in two of those five states —Missouri and Montana — based on the latest TPM Poll Averages as of Thursday — while the Republican challenger was nipping at the heels of the Democrat incumbent in Florida.

University of Virginia’s Center for Politics Larry Sabato’s Chrystal Ball website rates the re-election chances of Sens. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., Jon Tester, D-Mont., and Bill Nelson, D-Fla., as “toss-ups.”

Cook and Sabato have Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, in the leans Democratic category and Cook includes Rep. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., also in the leans category while Sabato has her in the likely Democratic category.

“Republicans will use ‘yes’ votes on the Affordable Care Act to attack Senate candidates running in red states,” Kondik said. “These include Claire McCaskill (and) Jon Tester . . . While it will be used in other places — Josh Mandel in Ohio, for instance, has claimed that Sherrod Brown was the deciding vote on the Affordable Care Act — it would seem most effective in states that are most likely to go for Mitt Romney.

The leftists want us sniping at each other over whether Obamacare is a "tax" or a "penalty"... in order to distract us from what we really need to start doing to win this November. Don't let them.

Pete Hoeksta ad against Debbie Stabenow. It was running less than 24 hours after the decision.

I don’t know how anybody in their right mind could vote for Stabenow. She has to be one of the dimmest bulbs in Michigan.

If the bill had no severability clause and the SC struck down the part about expansion of medicaid...why has the whole bill not got down in flames?

I don’t think she’ll survive this time. She has a 5 to 10 point lead in the polls now but we won’t have a GOP nominee till August.

Personally I prefer Clark Durant but would have no problem voting for Hoekstra.

Interesting that a University of Virginia Center of Politics study never mentioned the Senate race in VIRGINIA between George Allen (R) and Tim Kaine (D) to replace Webb (D). Allen was one of Virginia's most popular governors what Kaine is best remembered for leaving us with a deficit.

Something seems suspicious.

Is Braindead Casey up for reelection in PA?
He needs to be trown out on his brain which happens to be his buttocks! The GOP has to organize and question every Vote in PHILLY which is a Cesspool of Rendell and Demorat Corruption and Perversion along with Murder! It’s so corrupt that Crissy Matthews and Mayor Street joked about it the night before the 2004 Election when Street promised he would give KERRY a 400,000 vote victory in Philly and it came to pass! and Bush only lost by 95,000 votes in all of PA! We ain’t a Blue State here in PA! We are a Red State being defrauded by the corruption of Philly and Pittshell!
ROMNEY, please enforse the Laws if Pennsylvania and You will WIN OUR WONDERFUL STATE! and KICK OUT The DODO BIRD, CASEY!

Yep. And Kaine was the chairman of the party that forced Obamacare down our throats.

Florida: Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla., enjoys a slight 2.1-point lead over Republican challenger Connie Mack — 41.6 to 39.5 percent.

Nelson is going DOWN...

Connie Mack has name recognition and though a RINO....better that senile old bat Nelson...

Article seemed to address races where incumbent who had voted for Obamacare was up for election. Virginia does not have that situation. Possible GOP pick-ups in Nebraska and Wisconsin not included for the same reason.

Election Projection - Democrats,48,-3; Republicans, 50, +3; Independents, 2, no change

Interesting that no change shows on this page since the SCOTUS decision.

Total BS. With the number of back stabbing RINOs in the Senate, the Republicans wouldn't have practical, real world control of the Senate with 60 seats. We need at least 10 seats to have the possibility of getting anything through.

Excuse me, I have to go throw up.
