Romney under fire from conservatives
Financial Times ^ | Tuesday July 3, 2012 | Stephanie Kirchgaessner

Prominent conservatives are grumbling that the Romney campaign may not have what it takes to defeat Barack Obama, and are not being shy about it.

[....]

Jack Welch, the one-time chief of General Electric, chimed in. “Hope Mitt Romney is listening to Murdoch advice on campaign staff ... playing in league with Chicago pols ... No room for amateurs”.

Some conservatives have been enraged by an apparent tactical decision by the Romney campaign this week to break ranks with senior Republicans on Capitol Hill over how to respond to the Supreme Court’s healthcare decision.

While one Republican strategist told the Financial Times that such sniping is “cyclical” and expected in politics, other Washington insiders are quietly expressing concern about the state of the race so far.

Mr Romney’s team have proven to be stellar fundraisers and have not had any major missteps. But the campaign has failed so far to offer a compelling response to blistering attacks from the Obama camp on Mr Romney’s business record.

They did really well from march until last week. I don’t get their response on obamacare. They have been good on that issue but think supporting the desenting opinion is the way to go. I get that initial response, but they ned to develop an attack

Romney needs to fire Fehrnstrom. And have a long sit down with Murdoch and Welch to pick their brains. And Welch’s especially.

Yes, poor ROmney...

CNN Poll of Swing States: Romney 51, Obama 43

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2902108/posts

“However, in the 15 states CNN calls its battleground states - Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Wisconsin - Romney leads Obama, 51 percent to 43 percent.”

And this is among registered voters...

CNN Poll: Health care ruling has not impacted race for White House, so far

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2012/07/02/cnn-poll-health-care-ruling-has-not-impacted-race-for-white-house-so-far/

“And while the CNN/ORC International survey released Monday indicates the president with a very slight three point edge over Romney among registered voters nationwide, the presumptive GOP nominee appears to hold an eight point advantage among voters who live in the 15 states considered in play in the race for the White House.”

Romney has no attack other than “Im not Obama” pretty much...everything else is generic statements about how bad the economy is and that’s about it and even his statements about the bad economy sounds like he’s making a cheap television commercial with no passion

Agreed. That adviser is saying some rather moronic stuff—etch-a-sketch, it’s NOT a tax, etc. He’s going to lead Romney to a loss, who’s paying Fehrnstrom? Obama?

Mittens better ‘snap out of it’ and snap into it.

If he’s pussy footing it for 2016 - Worried about Hillary getting 2016 if he gets in - tough....Win already! Get this dangerous moron out of office...Jeepers

Yeah, but taking out the states that don’t belong there . . . AZ, IN, and MO, Obama was up by 8. Obama is going to lose some red states that he won last time (IN a prime example), put Romney is dying in so many polls in the states that count (OH). He is feckless and is going to get killed in the debates. The GOP elite did this to us. This is, and will be, an unmitigated disaster.

It really doesn’t matter any longer, no bill like this has ever been repealed and I doubt they start now.

We are all slaves to the collective now, those who do not produce and vote right will be extermanated, it’s the fascist way.

For the first time in my life.... I fear my country. My wife is only 29. However.... She’s a type 1 diabetic. She has fibro and neuropathy and doctors suspect she suffered a mini stroke last week. What ever it was has impacted her strength on her right side. She now is to walk with a walker.

I fear once I am unable to obtain the insurance and medications she needs by private means Obama and his death panel will cut her off..

We are considering relocating to Montana to be closer to her mother and I am afraid closer to Canada to get the medications needed should our very own country decide she is no longer worth the investment.

I am really struggling with my support of Romney now. Up until a couple of days ago, I was fairly enthusiastic in my “ride the horse that is still running” philosophy. I think if the health care ruling had gone our way, it would have been great for Romney in this election. As it stands, though, on basically EVERY major issue that we have to attack Obama with, he can fire back and point at Romney and say “him too.” I think that’s why Romney is unsure how to proceed in the wake of the ruling. He’s even on record saying that his mandate wasn’t a tax in Massachusetts. I mean, it breaks down even to the components of the arguments against Obamacare. For each component of our argument, there’s a record somewhere of Romney arguing that our position is wrong, back in 2006 in Massachusetts. I have no doubt that he’ll sign a repeal if he’s elected and we get it to his desk, but my problem is that I find it so hard to defend him to people who might be wishy-washy on the fence about who to vote for.

Add in the Mother Jones article that came out a couple of days ago that a friend on Facebook posted to me, and I’m really concerned. I’m not going to post the article here, but please do a search for “Mother Jones Romney David Corn” and you’ll find it. If there’s any truth to it, I will have a really hard time marking Romney on my ballot.

I know this is a pipe dream, but the person we really need to step forward is the one that declined to play. Sarah would be the ideal counter to every argument that Obama has. She’s the only one who can, with utmost credibility, refute every argument he makes. I’d almost rather go down with her at the helm than win with Romney. At least I’d go down with honor.

Romney’s been able to make alot of money for himself and his family, which is fine. But as a so-called conservative candidate for President he’s a bum, and too much of a chance to run against a true enemy of America.

Dump him, and draft Sarah.

The continuation of The United States Of America is truly at stake.

If I have me facts correct Romney has run for office 22 times. He has lost 17 of those attempts.

As someone here on FR said weeks ago... "so were going to run the guy who lost to the guy, McCain, who lost the last election."

I totally agree, but the arrogant, brainless, devoid of principles Mittens won't do that. He's not comfortable with those who can THINK. Mittens is Obozo-lite and he knows it.

Even more 'concern' from un-named Washington D. C. 'insiders'? Seems to be a lot of that bouncing around.
Color me skeptical.

Yeah. I met Neutron Jack once while working for GE back in the '70s. He's done and walking away smiling before you know you're dead. "Neutron" because 'the people go, the buildings stay.'

My daughter was roommate with the daughter of one of Jack's former key managers. I talked with him. Jack tasked him with leading the team to identify and fire an entire echelon of middle managers. When they were done, Jack fired the team.

Observing, my daughter learned. She's a fairly long-term VP of a decent size company now. I'm glad my daughter is my loyal friend.

Sayonara, BHO, if Jack's ROE fly.

Thanks for speaking the truth. At this point, the GOP would be better off just to cancel the convention and save the cash on hand for 2016--if the country is still going then.

Romney established a precedent for screwing up campaigns back in 94

Early he had a double digit lead against Teddy

He renounced any association with the NRA and Christian Right and tried to go to the left of Kennedy Teddy handled him his ass

He bought the nomination this year with his tons of $$$$$$$$ running misleading and untruthful ads against his opponents
His opponents didn’t have the $$$$ to combat his lies

Sad thing is the pundits on FOX never got on his case for the way he smeared NEWT and they knew the ads were BS
They wanted him to win including Coulter because he could beat OBAMA

We are totally screwed unless a miracle occurs at the convention
