Rasmussen: Conservative Anger Against Obamacare Hitting 'Stratospheric Levels'

Conservative interest in the presidential election hit “stratospheric levels” following last week’s Supreme Court ruling upholding Obamacare, noted pollster and author Scott Rasmussen tells Newsmax.TV.

“All that did was energize conservatives,” declared Rasmussen in an exclusive interview on Monday. “The conservative interest in the election was already much higher than that of moderates and liberals. It went up to really stratospheric levels right after the ruling. We don’t know if that will continue or if it’s just a temporary response to the news cycle.”

No Senate action means it didn’t happen.

There is only one lesson to be derived from this Supreme Court fiasco.

We have to stop relying on the Supreme Court to protect us from the expansion of government power. That should have been clear after the McCain Feingold debacle, but some people may need an additional example.

If it is to be permissable for the Federal Government to have that kind of latitude, we must make absolutely certain that never again will we allow Big-Government Liberals to hold the reigns of power. The idea that we can relax and let the Constitution protect us from the predations of oppressive government should at last be proved obviously false to each and every one of us.

So we are just going to have to go out and beat them. This time, next time, and every time after that.

Sorry to disappoint you, but Romney cannot be relied on for life issues. I worked at Liberty Counsel in 2005, the year after his alleged conversion to prolife, and MA hospital workers were calling us because they were under pressure from his administration to capitulate on abortion. Christian conscience is not safe under this man.

As for what it means to be evil, that’s God’s call, not mine. Yes, Obama is evil. But God also informs us that making yourself into a god is horrendous evil. I don’t see how we retain God’s blessing with either of these losers. Which is why some of us have shifted our focus down-ticket.

We won’t fix this in one election. This is not a Hollywood movie. This is going to be hard work, much of it boring but necessary. We begin by agreeing not to shoot our own.

Angry? I am losing my income, my health insurance is being messed with, death panels are now legal and you think I'm angry.

Death Panels? You're gonna wish you had Death Panels. At least with Death Panels you have a legal process to fall back on.

We're going to wind up with a Death Panel of one, with an IV morphine drip that goes up to 11 on any quiet night.

Where in the Constitution is the power to create the Federal Aviation Administration? Airplanes aren’t mentioned in the document.

We agree on this, that Roberts did the wrong thing for the wrong reason.

Problem I have with your comment is where you say Bush proclaimed a new world order. While you pointed out Bush appointed Roberts. If you mean George W Bush and I have to assume you do, he didn’t proclaim a new world order.

Even those mildly confused tend to know that it was during the George HW Bush administration that NWO reared its head. Far as I can tell, it was Bush’s National Security Advisor that brought it up...Scowcroft I think it was.

By the time W was President, it was well established by events that it was no longer a world dominated exclusively by the power of the USSR vs the power of the United States. It was controversial to the Right, and to Libertarian types, but all the establishment ever thought of it was as a change from Cold War constructs to something more multi lateral, and they failed to see the pitfalls that were there.

Never was it a grand conspiracy forced on people, but it was the establishment’s way of looking at geopolitical facts on the ground.

To attribute Robert’s wrong decision to the NWO, globalism etc is just a forced construct, in addition to which it wasn’t W, but his father’s NSA that raised it.

I look to Levin and Rush, and they are looking to the story by reporter Jan Crawford for their factual basis for why Roberts did it.

‘This time I wanna try teaching the democrats a lesson.’
What a great idea! Teach the dem/socialists/marxists that they cannot tread on us - vote them all out!
Show them we can unite against them!
Remember -
Divided we will fall1

Don’t let them divide us!

Unite, vote them all out. Then weed out the traitors from among us.
It is simply foolish to think that leaving obozo the usurper in power will teach the GOP a lesson!
How can we begin the healing process with a usurper domestic terrorist in power? If we don’t chop off the head we have absolutely no chance! Chop off the head and show them we mean business!

I would rather see him re-elected so we can prosecute him for fraud and reverse every damn thing he ever did as president.

Actually an Obama re-election will produce exactly the opposite result. His re-election will only embolden him and his gang. Meanwhile, the sycophant, lapdog, mainstream media will help ensure that none of his crimes, past, present, or future, will ever see the light of day.

Our only opportunity to send him packing with his tail between his legs is this coming November. And so long as Romney doesn't pardon him, we will also have opportunity to see him persecuted. I'm not optimistic on that count but I'll be satisfied to see him join Jimmy Carter in the presidential Hall of Shame.

Romney may turn out to be the duplicitous RINO that most conservatives fear, but at this stage he is the only way to stop Obama. If he keeps his word to repeal Obamacare, then we’ll all be pleasantly surprised. If he keeps to form, he’ll repeal parts of Obamacare in some form of grand compromise to break a Democrat Senate filibuster. The bigger question on Romney and the hopefully GOP controlled Senate, is what they will do to fill what could be 4 SCC vacancies in the next four years (although I suspect that Ginsberg will retire before the election to let Obama fill her spot with another uber-liberal). If they select “moderates”, then the Republic is doomed.

Who's going to prosecute him? The Senate, a conviction for which you need 67?

No... Job One is voting him out. THEN prosecute the POS.

I wrote....”this nation is allowing a “ Professional Political Class” to form...”

You responded....

“Are you 10? We’ve had a professional political class since Sam Huntington.”

Sigh... that professional political class, though abhored by the Founders, has been a long time in the making with roots back before the formation of the nation. So?
My comment still stands. Read it again.

“Voting isn’t going to change anything this time around.”

Love those pessimistic attitudes! They’re always good for a laugh.

Might I remind you that Rome wasn’t built in a day. It took the socialists in the Democrat Party 80+ years to bring us to the disasterous result of Obamanation.

The road back, be it 80 more years, or 1000 miles starts today with that first step. Your “all or nothing” pessimism notwithstanding.

Voting is that very basic first step. I never suggested it was the only step.

“Quit projecting.”.....

Penalties! What a great idea!
The gov is not the only one that can impose ‘penalties’ on us.
WE the people can penalize the gov!
Vote the bums out! obozo, senators, congressmen, state legislators......

Teach the Dems a lesson by imposing penalties on them!

PENALTIES....LESSONS.....VOTE THEM OUT!

And your idea of going to war is to vote for Romney. Wow.

No kidding. It's like trying to move an entrenched pig wearing lipstick by threatening it with a wet noodle.

If nobama is reelected, America and our liberty will be gone forever without another real revolution.

Like in 2010, conservatives, regardless of the degree of libertarian lean, will have one thing in mind, kick the liberals out.

I believe the GOPe will look at the Tea Parties, 2010 and 2012 and recognize that real conservatism is back and isn’t about to accept the back seat any longer, whether they like it or not.

You are nothing but a selfish, spoiled brat! Romney wasn't crammed down anybodies throats; he was duly nominated in our states primaries. You are simply pi$$ed your choice didn't win in the primaries. Neither did mine, but instead of acting like a selfish SOB, I'm getting behind our GOP nominee to defeat the Marxist currently destroying our nation.

Your reply above pretty much sums up my feelings about the anti-Romney folk here. Enough is enough. We get it. Romney is far from our ideal candidate to carry the banner for the Republican Party. I can we can all agree on that. However, bashing Romney (at least between now and November) is going to get us nowhere. Once he's in office, I'll be one of his toughest critics. But right now, my focus is on removing a president who is a clear and present danger to the Constitution of the United States.

I also agree that Romney was not "crammed down our throats". Conservatives chose him in enough numbers to gain him the nomination. In other words, Romney won this contest fair and square.

Case in point is Wyoming, arguably the most conservative state in America. Well, Wyoming held their Republican caucuses back in February. Free Republic favorite Newt Gingrich was still very much in the race. So was Rick Santorum and Ron Paul. All registered Republicans were invited to participate.

The results? Well when all was said and done, Mitt Romney picked up 22 out of 29 delegates. How many did Newt Gingrich get? Zero. The same Newt Gingrich who was much ballyhooed around here as the most conservative option and he pulled a goose egg in our most conservative state. Inexplicable, but one cannot say that Romney was crammed down our throats. With respect to Wyoming, you can't blame mischief-minded Democrats. The Wyoming caucus was for registered Republicans only. There were many other states that held primaries/caucuses for Republicans only and Romney still won most of them. Like it or not, conservatives chose Mitt Romney over the other candidates that were offered up.

So as they used to say when I was in the military, you make your bed, you sleep in it. We must find a way to defeat Obama this November with the tools we have been given. We have been given a lemon and so we must now make lemonade. All the whining, gnashing of teeth and foot-stomping I see here will serve no useful purpose.
