Imagine you're sitting at home, comfortable on the couch, watching the Food Network, when all of a sudden a heavily armed SWAT team breaks down your door and storms into your living room.

That's what happened to 18-year-old Stephanie Milan, who was watching TV in her family's Evansville, Ind., home last Thursday (June 22), when a team of police officers broke down her storm door

This joint is starting to look like pre-WWII Germany. I wonder what’s up.

Very valid observation & I am looking into leaving this once great nation before we are not allowed to do such. To all, be prepared.

One of these days some idiot SWAT team is going to hit the wrong address and run into someone who knows what he’s doing and all of them are going to end up dead.

When that happens I’m going to stand up and cheer.

Hope they get a lawyer and sue. I know it’ll probably have littlee effect, but I would at least expect them to recover damages.

In the final analysis, America came to the rescue and restored freedom to the German people but America will NEVER have the luxury of outside help.

Consequently, we are toast.

Whatever happened to staking the place out or knocking on the door first? Good thing they didn’t have a dog.

Here is a story that outlines exactly what you are commenting on. Thankfully, the soldier did not want to harm anyone, as this trained soldier with considerable combat experience harmed no one. He is now in jail with over a dozen counts of attempted murder against him, no treatment for PTSD and the Army wants to dishonorably discharge him. All this because a fireman tried to smash down his door in the middle of the night and the soldier awoke thinking he was back in Afghanistan fighting insurgents and barricaded the door.

About three weeks ago, the same police officer that shot Joshua Eisenhauer shot and killed another Staff Sgt in the Warrior Transition Battalion at Ft Bragg.

Scant effort at explanation, but it’s hinted that someone else might have glommed a connection on to her unprotected wireless home internet network. So the SWATties did home in on the address where the network was, but of course were eluded by whoever used her network to send the threats, whether by war driving or by being in a neighboring house. There are so many open networks today that using them unseen to do something nefarious on the internet, from uploading kiddie porn to committing frauds (let alone threatening police) is a burgeoning problem. And an article linked from this one suggests that, especially with rent-a-cloud computing services, even poorly password protected wireless internet networks are vulnerable — if you use something that’s in a dictionary, the dictionary can be bounced against a sample of your data transmission in seconds. (Of course a dedicated home computer could be used as well. The cloud is just one way.) I’d suggest using at minimum WPA2 with a password that is randomly typed gibberish to the maximum field length you can get.

You’d think someone called the White House and made credible terrorist threats.

Or someone from the home called and reported people shot and hostages were being held at gun point.

This is not our parents America.

No, they don't... and shouldn't.
If they start getting it, then you know stuff's going down... CWII-type stuff.
