~Favorite Summer Songs~

Under the boardwalk - The drifters
Oh, when the sun beats down And burns the tar up on the roof And your shoes get so hot You wish your tired feet were fireproof Under the boardwalk Down by the sea, yeah On a blanket with my baby Is where I'll be (Under the boardwalk) Out of the sun (Under the boardwalk) We'll be having some fun (Under the boardwalk) People walking above (Under the boardwalk) We'll be falling in love (Under the boardwalk, boardwalk) In the park you hear The happy sound of the carousel You can almost taste the hot dogs French fries they sell Under the boardwalk Down by the sea, yeah On a blanket with my baby Is where I'll be (Under the boardwalk) Out of the sun (Under the boardwalk) We'll be having some fun (Under the boardwalk) People walking above (Under the boardwalk) We'll be falling in love (Under the boardwalk, boardwalk) [Instrumental Interlude] Oh, under the boardwalk Down by the sea On a blanket with my baby Is where I'll be (Under the boardwalk) Out of the sun (Under the boardwalk) We'll be having some fun (Under the boardwalk) People walking above (Under the boardwalk) We'll be falling in love (Under the boardwalk, boardwalk)

Frank Sinatra - Summer Wind
(H. Meier, H. Bradtke, J. Mercer) [Recorded May 16, 1966, Hollywood]
The summer wind, came blowin' in from across the sea It lingered there to touch your hair and walk with me All summer long we sang a song and then we strolled that golden sand Two sweethearts and the summer wind
Like painted kites, those days and nights, they went flyin' by The world was new beneath a blue umbrella sky Then softer than a piper man one day it called to you I lost you, I lost you to the summer wind
The autumn wind and the winter winds, they have come and gone And still the days, those lonely days, they go on and on And guess who sighs his lullabies through nights that never end My fickle friend, the summer wind
The summer wind Warm summer wind Mmm, the summer wind

Songs of Summer (for me, anyway -- and quite eclectic).... In no particular order:
Summertime by Kenny Chesney
Born To Run by Bruce Springsteen
OhoooOh Baby Baby by Smokey Robinson
End of the Innocence by Don Henley
Southern Cross by Crosby, Stills & Nash
Summer of '69 by Bryan Adams
Sweet Child of Mine by Guns-n-Roses
A Summer Place (instrumental) by Percy Faith Orchestra
Summer Love by Neil Diamond
Shakin' by Eddie Money
Turn the Page by Bob Seger
On the Roof by Mariah Carey
A Country Boy Can Survive by Hank Williams Jr.
Summer Nights by Rascal Flatts
Rocky Mountain High by John Denver
There's probably hundreds more.... Summer just lends itself to musical memories, doesn't it??

Please, dear Fatima, take me off your ping list. Now that I’m in a rural area my connection is iffy at best, and when I scroll through posts it slooooows me down.

I love that song “Summer Girls “you look like a girl from Abercrombie & Fitch”.
It must have come out when my kid was about 11, so that’s why I heard it at all. But my dad had worked at A & F years ago, when it was basically a sporting goods store (I guess for Rich White Guys since my dad sold fishing gear to Humphrey Bogart - or so the story goes!).
I love it, but actually it makes me cry, because I wish my dad could have lived to see what a great girl his granddaughter grew to be.
Well, extremely sentimental beats the rage & confusion I’ve been feeling all day.

I have a summer playlist, keep adding to it all the time, but they keep deleting them also. The newest trick is a lot of videos come up with “So and so has restricted this video in a playlist. View it in a standalone player.” They’ve really done a lot of these in the last few weeks.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ijjDlbcI9w&list=PL40B4CCC4DC70DBB9&feature=mh_lolz
This link should go to my playlist, but if not, it goes to the first song, which shows all the rest.

It’s Walkin in the Sunshine - another Roger Miller gem. I had it on my playlist but they deleted it, I found it again. I was just singing it to myself now, it’s such a happy little thing. We sure need that today, don’t we?
