The Constitution is just a piece of paper.

Posted on 06/28/2012 9:14:43 AM PDT by mikeus_maximus

What gives life to that document is the consensus of the people who uphold it. It has no special magic. It is fragile. If our society choses to change or disregard it entirely, it means nothing, affords no protection.

The shift away from its governing principles has been slow and continuous but determined. The Kelo v. New London case went a long way towards erasing individual property rights, which are the foundation of our personal freedom. With the decision to uphold the individual mandate of Obamacare, the government has just consumed another large portion of our indiviudal liberty. Where will this end?

Indulge me, but I don't think this is a stretch: The US will become what most societies have been thoughout most of history. When I was young and naive and patriotic, I believed that America would never regress internally to the point that it would, for example, persecute people for their religous beliefs. I no longer believe that. I understand the human psyche better now and the attitudes that Romans 1 was describing. I've seen it around me. It's on the news every day.

We haven't "evolved" from our age-old passions and weaknesses; people haven't changed. Those with a pagan world view always have and will always hate those who live and teach the Judeo-Christian worldview on which Democracy and individual liberty depends.

Paganism has been the predominant worldview of mankind thoughout history and throughout most of the world. The West has been spared from the effects of that vein of thinking for hundreds of years. But paganism, which rejects the value of the individual and the existence of a transcendent personal God with moral laws, is rapidly gaining traction here now. It is the official government view, which is obvious from our laws and court decisions, and it will soon be the societal majority view as well. I can now clearly foresee a day when my offspring will be facing direct social and government persecution and treated as criminals simply because they are Christians. The Constiution cannot save them from that, not when the majority of society feels they are not bound by it or can reinterpret it to fit the "felt necessities of the times." This Supreme Court, a court as conservative as we are likely to see again, has just made the impotence of that piece of paper abundantly clear. And we are about to elect another President who feels the same way.

Yep, keep it handy when you have to relieve yourself because that’s what it’s good for now.

Even IF the RINO Romney wins the USSC precedent remains.
When the democrats eventually take over again they have the RIGHT to force you to buy services ( and in the future, goods) under penalty of law !!!

The cancer remains, irrelevant of who is in power. The structure of Govt. has been fundamentally changed.

The USA has been finally transformed completely ( Wickard v. Filburn was the BIG 1st step ) into a Statist, neo-marxist Socialist State.

The marxist leftists of the SCOTUS hold firm to their darkness but one of our so-called conservative justices lurches to the leftist side once again. FUBAR and FU Roberts for picking up the mantle of David Souter (the weasel).

The Anti-Federalists were right! The Constitution gave too much power to the federal government.

There is a famous legal maxim from an early 19th-century Supreme Court case: "the power to tax is the power to destroy." The federal government, thanks to the 16th amendment, has that power.

This is the worst day in US history since the 16th amendment was ratified in terms of potential long-term harm (unless Obamacare can be repealed). 12/7/41 and 9/11/01 were serious blows but were overcome.

Obamacare: the worst law passed by Congress since the Fugitive Slave Act (with the possible exception of the Volstead Act).

The Constitution is a historical document, a reminiscence of a time when great men had great values and honor, and a great nation had the courage to take on their challenge. America is no longer up to the task, and our leaders scribble their graffiti over wisdom. As a nation, we have exactly what we deserve.

Your foresight is faulty. That that day appeared a decade or so ago. Scripture guarantees social and government persecution. Be resolute and strong. Future generations are depending on us. If you loose faith you won't be able to share it.

Throughout America's history, millions have taken the oath of office, vowing to "protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America". Elected officials and even members of the Military have taken the oath. Most have honored their oath, but are now being taken out by the few who have decided that freedom is only good for themselves.

I don't believe that obama even took the oath, based on the perported "screw up" at the inaugaration and later took a private "oath" with one of the SCOTUS justicies. Did he do it to opt out of the oath, or to take it on the Koran rather than the Bible?

I grew up in the 50's and 60's when Americans were disgusted at even the thought of socialism/communism. But just as predicted by Krushev, they are taking us over without firing a shot. The "communist manifesto" has come to fruition over the past 50 years.

Social Justice is a PC way of saying communist takeover. The commies found a gold mine when they embraced the minorities and succeeded in brainwashing Americans into a national guilt trip.

So, here we go. We're going to learn first-hand how the "poor people" in communist/socialist countries we have read about had to live.

I'm willing to bet that none of the European or other countries that America has saved from Communism, will come to our aid.

We patriotic conservatives are probably living in the last generation of being the "majority" in America. If we don't fill the three branches with conservatism elected this year, it may never happen again.

Our version of the "iron curtain"/"Berlin Wall" will spring up as lib government prevents anyone from leaving the country.

We will become "slaves" to the whims and desires of a despotic dictator, providing him all of the luxury of the office, governing our every move with the flick of his hand.

>>If our society choses to change or disregard it entirely, it means nothing, affords no protection.<<

So,all those folks throughout history who swore to uphold the constitution were in essence lying? They swore to uphold nothing?

Wrong!!! The constitution was a divinely inspired document by the Almighty himself. This nation was founded on the principals held in biblical text, (Mosaic law).

Freedom, honor, liberty, patriotism...all that our founding fathers stood for is contained within this document.

Here we stand, witnessing a perverted government stray as far from our founding principals as it possibly can.

Uncle Sugar, spending us into insolvency, devaluing our standard of living, protecting foreign interest over that of the American citizen.

Refusing to abide or even enforce federal law, yet holding citizens to a different standard.

Flooding our country with foreigners that have no concept of American freedom, no concept of our founding documents guarantees. No idea what true liberty even feels like.

Are we a free people? Have we not been lied to by republicans and democrats alike? Why do we just stand idly by with our mouths open like a turkey observing the rain?

Our representatives for years have betrayed the American people...sounds harsh, but this is exactly what has happened.

TERM LIMITS, BALANCED BUDGET AMENDMENT, STATES RIGHTS RESTORED, CLOSE THE DAMN BORDER, SCALE BACK THE SIZE AND SCOPE OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT!

Let's get off our duffs folks and make a difference, times running out.
