Several hundred people gathered this morning at the Domingue Center in Lafayette in hopes of receiving a federally funded Section 8 housing voucher.

Eligible applicants, some waiting since yesterday evening, were able to put their name on a waiting list for the vouchers. This is the first

Isn’t It Ironic? The food stamp program, part of the Department of Agriculture, is pleased to be distributing the greatest amount of food stamps ever.

Meanwhile, the Park Service, also part of the Department of Agriculture, asks us to “Please Do Not Feed the Animals” because the animals may grow dependent and will not learn to take care of themselves.

You didn’t read the stories that being fat was a sign of poverty?

I’ve had many jobs in my life. All of them provided a nice standard of living for me and my family.

And I never stood in line for 24 hours for any of them. In fact I doubt that every job I’ve had combined, which represents hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years, adds up to 24 hours spent in getting those jobs.

Isn’t their resolve amazing...at least when offered free stuff?

“Meanwhile, the Park Service, also part of the Department of Agriculture, asks us to “Please Do Not Feed the Animals” because the animals may grow dependent and will not learn to take care of themselves.”

Great point...it went off like a thunderbolt in my head.

Why don’t we feed the animals?

Because they’ll stop fending for themselves and instead become dependent on man.

Subtle and brilliant, I’m gonna use it. Every good leftist knows that you never, ever feed the animals.

It is a pretty sweet deal. If the house owner puts it up in the Section 8 Stable, the rent can go for a lot of money per month. The ‘resident’ is only responsible for about 25% of what their income is less expenses, I think.

This is what replaced Lyndon Johnson’s Public Housing of the 60s...no more public housing. The government is infesting these lazy fat assed leeches in YOUR neighborhood.

The very first sign your community is in trouble is when owners start converting their property over to Section 8 housing...nothing good comes of it.

My point wasn’t very clear. I meant that I doubt I’ve spent 24 hours in job interviews, not including driving to those interviews, resume preparation, searching for the job itself, etc.

All this program does is inflate rents at the lower-end of the housing market so that the so-called “working poor” can’t afford them on their own.

Oh, and it gets large numbers of slumlords contributing to the Democrat Party.
