Going to Governor Christie's Townhall meeting today
Self | 6/26/2012 | Self

Governor Christie is holding a townhall in Brick, NJ today at 3 PM. I signed up to go, and got a confirming call from the Governor's office yesterday.

KEYWORDS: governorchristie; townhall; vanity
My question, if I am fortunate enough to be called on in the Q&A session, will be regarding the Second Amendment. For a non-connected law abiding citizen to obtain a carry permit is nearly impossible.

I’m not happy about some of his policies, such as gun control, but he’s definitely the best Governor that NJ could possibly hope for and he’s much better than most of NJ deserves.

I wish I were going as well.

If he is the BEST New Jersey can hope for, that state is in SERIOUS trouble.

Christie not only has a problem with the Second Amendment, he can apparently do with the First also. Additionally, he is PRO-MUSLIM which is unforgivable in my book.

Yes, no death penalty and regular citizens are unable to protect themselves away from home. They make victims out of law abiding people.

Only the privileged, and the criminals carry in NJ.

I’m glad to have Christie as Governor, and will vote for him again.

Bears a strikeing resemblance to our presumptive nominee Mitt Romney!

Yup. The best we can hope for is a change in window dressing.

You are right. The state is in SERIOUS trouble. That's why Christie is the best we could have possibly gotten.

I liken him to the first chemotherapy treatment, it's like poison in your body, but it's the first step in becoming cancer free. I hope people will realize that a small step in the Conservative direction is good, and that a bigger step will be even better.

When Conservatism was on top with Reagan, no strategic steps were taken to ensure that people would continue to understand the benefits. Instead Liberalism kept pounding their message and people bought back into it.

As long as the libs control the Educational Establishment, from nearly cradle to graduate school, we will loose.

We need to take over the media first, then the schools.

Another my opinion
How do we tell/
America is in a bad situation; our politics have come out into the open; and it looks evil!
The Obama administration seems to have approved of the disparaging of conservative women in politics. Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachman, all conservative women in politics and most recently Anne Romney! Yet Mister Obama waited ‘till just yesterday to come out against it! Yesterday he started speaking out against this practice! What took him so long?!
Mr Obama seems to have been approving of this! America is getting sick and tired of this attitude.

I think what America needs now is the other side of Politics; that’s right a Conservative point of view.
We already have FOX news “Fair and Balanced” establishment news, now we need a right side to balance it out.
Who is the author of fair and balanced???

Update: Though I was not called upon, it was an interesting session. Taxes and jobs were a serious focus point, and Christie’s statements and answers seemed on the right track.

FYI, had he called on me, here is my question:

My question is regarding the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States. What part of the phrase “shall not be infringed” does the state government fail to understand?

The requirement for a permit alone is an infringement on our Constitutional rights, and the near impossibility for an ordinary law abiding citizen to obtain a permit adds insult to injury.

Having to show “need” does not apply to the First, or any other amendment; why should it apply to the Second?

Anyone who cannot be trusted with a firearm should not be running around in public.

I totally agree with you.

But knowing Chris Christie, he probaqbly would have told you to sit down and shut up.

Both parties have “plants” in these audiences with pre-conceived questions and they tend to callmainly on them - but not exclusively.

Christie is typical of the New Jersey Republican Establishment - people like Tom Kean Senior.

Their main concern is primarily taxes. That is not a bad thing. But Taxes are merely a PART of the entire issue. You can’t be a fiscal conservative and support the kind of unconstitutional, intrusive regulations which attack basic constitutional rights because the beaurocracies which immplement such regulations need money to operate and that can only come from taxes.

Fiscally responsible government can’t be run by control freaks like Michael Bloomberg and Barack Obama.

"Governor Christie is holding a townhall in Brick, NJ"

Off subject but just a quick comment:

Brick, NJ has the best youth soccer teams I have ever come accross. Everyone seems to show up in SUV's in this very wealthy community. 18 full soccer fields in one complex, wow.

Back to regular subject.

Their soccer program is excellent, but one small correction: Brick is not a "very wealthy" community. Brick is where South Monmouth real estate agents take buyers who can't afford Monmouth County. It does have waterfront sections with big bucks homes, but the exact same home in a similar Monmouth County location would go for 20-50% more money depending on community.

The cut-off-your-nose-to-spit-in-your-face crowd will be here shortly to flat out lie about Christie's positions and try and convince freepers he's "pro-abortion" and "pro-gay marriage". The "conservatives" have no shame and won't stop until he's driven from office an a marxist union thug is back in power.
