It's parent vs. school over students' pledge of allegiance to teachers, district

An optional pledge of allegiance to a New Jersey school and its teachers will continue after an attorney determined it’s not problematic following a complaint by one parent who deemed it to be unconstitutional, FoxNews.com has learned.

For the past decade, every Monday of the school year at Asher Holmes Elementary School in Morganville, N.J., has started with students reciting a pledge honoring the Marlboro Township School District and its teachers, who “help [students] learn” all they need to “know for the future.”

But until last week, not a single parent had complained about the pledge:

"I pledge allegiance to Asher Holmes and the Marlboro Township School District and to the teachers who help us learn all that we need to know for the future. We promise to respect ourselves and others, to try our best and always be proud of our schools."

The pledge was written by a fourth-grade teacher and does not replace the Pledge of Allegiance, which is recited every day and is also optional.

But Valerie Kaufman, a mother of a student at the school, told the Marlboro Township Board of Education during a June 12 meeting that she found the pledge to be unconstitutional and suggested administrators “do away” with the practice.

The answer that the parents who are against this "pledge" is to immediately remove their child/children from this district to either private school or home-school.

Dilutes the importance of pledging.

This is how totalitarian regimes keep control, start with the children .

Get them to swear allegiance to the head of the political entity whether it is the teachers or a Il Duce or a Fuhrer.

The German army was made to swear a oath of personal loyalty to Adolph Hitler when he became Head of State of Germany , the oath of allegiance to Germany was not deemed enough by the Nazi’s . In Italy it was basically the same with the Italians swear loyalty to Mussolini or else.

This sort of thing needs to be stomped on hard by the parents hard & fast.

With that approach, the parents are still paying for the public school. We desperately need to end the public education system in this country.

You are correct to say that taxpayers would continue to be on the hook were parents to pull their children from that district. However, the district would lose ADA monies, which would severely hurt their budget. There are two ways to address education in this country. One would be to permenantly take your child out of the system and either place in private education or home-school. The other is for the parents of these districts to hold the feet of the district school board to the fire by denying the ADA until the district changes.

Unquestioning submission to teachers and schools... talk about idolatry.

This has been going on for a decade. Sow this temple of illicit worship with salt.
