The most telling aspect is, my wife has always just listed herself as 'white' on any documentation she's filled out, when could have legitimately checked 'Native American' if she wanted to exploit it for personal gain. I always liked “Paints his shirt red” for a name. I think that was in Jeremiah Johnson. It has the same form as a name I heard of that was given ( according to this story ) to a geologist, who, being pursued by Indians, paused to procure a sample and was subsequently caught by his pursuers. They were astounded to see that he was carrying a bag of rocks while in flight for his life, and what’s more paused to add to it.
