Big-name Florida felon's mailbox surprise: a new voter card
BizPac Review ^ | 6/19/2012 | Jack Furnari

At the center of one of the most widely publicized public corruption cases in Palm Beach County history, Kevin McCarty’s name is one that rarely goes unrecognized these days. And yet it failed to ring a single bell in the Palm Beach County Elections Supervisor’s Office recently, when elections workers sent McCarty a brand-new voter registration card – little more than a year after returning home from prison and despite a felon status that makes him constitutionally ineligible to vote.

This at a time when the state and federal government continue to do battle, suing each other even, over how best to purge local voter rolls of those who have no right to vote. Clearly, it’s an issue Palm Beach County hasn’t figured out yet.

When asked how such a well-known felon could be sent a new voter registration card, Palm Beach County Elections Supervisor Susan Bucher said: “I didn't even know his first name was Lawrence. I don't look up felons in the newspaper. This is another instance of bad voter data by the state."

The law is similar here but yet people who haven’t voted in 20 years still get mailed new voter cards. and convicted felons, and dead people, and illegal immigrants.

Some computer programming would go a long way towards cleaning up this voter registration mess. Notifications could be sent to the local registrars from various departments regarding felony convictions, deaths, marriages/divorces, drivers license changes, etc. With the proper programs a lot of cross checking could flag discrepancies.

Did you apply for a new driver’s license in your new state? Did your husband and son do so?

Kevin McCarty - big time criminal - IS NOT THE TYPE to register to vote.

The 'doting court eunuchs' of the MSM need to ask him when he signed up, where, and why.

My guess is his name was added by Democrats who will 'vote for him' when he doesn't show up. It's NOT that dems vote the dead - they vote the people who don't come to the polls - and the dead are just swept up into that...

Again, Kevin McCarty - big time criminal - IS NOT THE TYPE to register to vote.

lmao, Palm County "hasn't figured (voter fraud -CO) out yet" like Gun Walker was a "botched sting operation."

Back in the 2000 election, I found one precinct in Palm County in which 267% of eligible Democrat voters went to Gore. I sorted the precincts according to turnout by party metrics and sent it to Jeb Bush personally and received a personal acknowledgment from him.

Nothing was done.

Rick Scott is the only one in Florida willing to take on this issue.

I moved from N California in Dec 2004 to Nevada.

I went to DMV & got a new driver’s license.

I registered both my vehicles & my horse trailer.

I surrendered my license plates & my driver’s license to the Nevada DMV. The lady told me they are physically sent back to California at least once a month, after notifying California electronically that I am now in Nevada, and properly licensed & registered here.

When my driver’s license came up for renewal in California, I got a notice -——to my NEW & correct Nevada address!!!!!

Then I got notices of renewal on both vehicles & horse trailer also at my NEW and correct Nevada address!!!!!

Then I got reminders of all of the above——4 renewals & 4 reminders of same-—all from California to Nevada.

The second reminders cycle was really rather nasty!

No wonder California is going broke-—they are sending myself and others such paperwork when they no longer have ANY jurisdiction over us at all!!!

I am not an isolated incident-—

My neighbors in N Calif moved to Kansas & got the same treatment—for 2 full years....at their new and correct KANSAS address!!!

Perhaps the Florida brain trust thought Kevin McCarthy, the actor, had registered to vote.

Never mind he died a few years ago.

One of his more memorable parts was in the 1950’s Night of the Zombies. (I think that was the name.)

Both son & hubby have new WY dl's. I have not changed mine yet as at one point, I thought I may have to go back for awhile for our daughter.

Yes, you would think a computer program could fix the problem, but this is what happens when government is in charge. On top of that, you have an extremely liberal Dem running the one office in governement that should be nonpartisan and nonpolitical. With all the technology available, it amazes me we still can’t get the voting right.

I received a new one a few months back because of the redistricting thanks to the 2010 census.

I wonder-does Florida have a motor voter law?

Ever had contact with the activist-rich departments of County government?
Easily 80% of them are incompetent and common sense impaired.

In order to practice common sense one must first be in possesion of common knowledge.

I doubt more than 5% of these morons could score better that 20% on the American Cultural Literacy test.

Say what??!!
Whatdoyamean felons can't vote?
