Watch out, moviegoers -- Nanny York City is taking aim at yet another of life's gluttonous pleasures.
On the heels of Mayor Michael Bloomberg's call for a ban on jumbo-sized sodas and other sugary drinks, city officials are now considering restrictions on treats ranging from popcorn to milkshakes.
At a meeting Tuesday, members of the New York City Board of Health expressed support for Bloomberg's proposal. They then started brainstorming other ways to cut the fat, according to MyFoxNY.com.
Member Bruce Vladeck proposed limiting movie-theater popcorn containers.
"The popcorn isn't a whole lot better than the soda," he said.
Another member suggested limits for milkshakes and "milk-coffee beverages."

Bloomberg should open his own line of ‘alternative’ food products. Bloomberg Soda, Bloomberg Popcorn, Bloomberg Milk Shakes... All would of course meet his strict standards of proper size and caloric content.
As a non-smoker I warned this was going to happen.. Give the Government an inch, they will want more..

According to Adkins, the popcorn is the problem. The butter and salt, (yes, salt) is harmless. They have studies to prove this, too.
Coconut oil is actually so healthy it is considered a superfood. My doctor told me this, and Adkins also says this. This is the problem with the government making your decisions for you: They could be wrong.
Restraint of trade. Is that what we created government to do?
There is no question that we are a nation of fat and unhealthy people and a lot of problems come with that. It is stunning how many more porkers you see wallowing around today compared to when I was a child decades ago. Our genes haven’t changed so lifestyle has to be the reason. There is no question that we are less active and that we eat much bigger portions. Therefore i’m all for people cutting down.
The problem is that people themselves should be responsable for making smart choices and the nanny state shouldn’t be responsable for making sure people do not do stupid things. Being truly free means the freedom to make dumb choices like eating a big mac, a large order of fries, and drinking a 32 ounce soda on a regular basis, getting drunk, or smoking weed. I’d hate to live in a society where government pushed everyone onto the straight and narrow path and the fewer ways government tells me to live my life the better. And for the record I haven’t been drunk in years, have never smoked anything, and avoid fast food.
A ban on milk shakes? Send those food Nazis to the crematorium.
People have said similar things in the past and then disavowed me when I have had to get on them for one thing or another.

I try not to say/do errant things, am a quick learner (for 62) in a relatively-new place like this, and I also have a thick skin. We’ll get along just fine, I’m thinking.

If some so called policy agencies don't stop trying to be dictators that may be a good answer. Same for some federal ones who have over the years acquired far more power than the Constitution allows them.
First they came for the soda drinkers,
and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a soda drinker.
Then they came for the popcorn eaters,
and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a popcorn eater.
Then they came for the milk shake drinkers,
and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a milk shake drinker.
Then they came for the cheeseburger eaters and there was no one left to speak out for me.
Heroin, homo sex etc etc etc; Bloomturd is ok with all of that filth.
