GHW Bush was the biggest political mistake by Reagan.

GHW Bush: Thanks you for your WWII service. Now go take another nap.

Yup. If he’d stuck to his “no new taxes” promise he would have had a second term.

“prosperous decade.”

But it wasn’t. It was just one bubble after another bubble. in 2000-2001 Tech Bubble Burst. The Housing Bubble then burst. Clinton refinanced our debt using short term low interest schemes to keep interest payments on the national debt down, only to hurt the markets. The IPO bubble burst as they were bogus and raped many of their money.

Sorry, but using bubbles as a measure of prosperity is insane. That’s like taking out a $50,000 credit card, spending like mad then claiming you made all kinds of money somehow.

GHWB is a true patriot and a good man. But he is also the epitome of a country clubber and RINO. They have the courage of their lack of convictions. Why would anyone have expected him to keep his “no new taxes plege” when only 9 years before he had labelled Reagan’s bold pro-growth polices as “voodoo” economics.

The RINO lives and breathes under the accepted notion that the battle between democrats and Republicans is a polo match where everyone gets together at the clubhouse later on for scotch and yucks it up because they get to play polo while the rubes watching are fooled into thinking it is an actual competition. The RINO wants more than anything to be loved. That is why they are not comfortable being in power. All that derision and hateorade from the MSM makes them uncomfortable. Thus, they do things like try to sound “progressive light” all the time using words like “compromise” or “moderation.”

Exactly, but the media continues to spread the lies of "the great Clinton economy" like(what it was)...manure.

Unfortunately, he did not campaign "his heart out."

I think checking his watch during the debate was the final nail in the coffin.

most Americans fell for the smooth talkin’ Slick One in ‘92 just like The One in ‘08.

As you no doubt realized immediately after clicking the Post button, most Americans voted for someone other than Slick Willie in '92 (and '96, too). ;)

GHW Bush was the biggest political mistake by Reagan.

Only if we exclude Sandra Day O'Connor from his political mistakes.

No he didn’t. I still remember seeing Barbara give a speech where she basically said they didn’t really care if they won...but they were at least going through the motions.

"He would have had a second term if he hadn’t tried so hard to distance himself from Reagan with the “compassionate” conservative crap."

Bingo, and this is the same stupid philosophical malfeasance that currently infests the RINO GOP.

Unlike the Clinton administration, at least manure can be used for fertilizer.

The best description of the Bush campaign, was something like, “The Campaign of Christmas past.” It was invisible, nearly non-existent until way late in the game, and way too nice to that drunken, drug addled, and philanderer, Clinton.

Coming off Dessert Storm, I think Bush was convinced he couldn’t lose until late in the game. Then he began to take notice and the polls became the awakening giant he couldn’t overcome.

Bush was lucky to have one term. The only reason he was elected in 1988, was to carry on the Reagan legacy. And then he didn’t. It just wasn’t in him.

I honestly think Bush was the most qualified man to ever become president. Unfortunately his experience didn’t instill Reagan-like qualities that we so desperately needed. Failing that, we instead got the organized crime figure from Arkansas, and he put a stake through the nations heart, dividing us right down the middle.

Yeah you’re right. George Jr. was the `compassionate conservative.’
His father’s rhetorical Gettysburg was repeating Peggy Noonan’s ode to the New World Order—and to community organizers—by asking all of us to gaze in awe at “a thousand points of light.”
A lot of switch voters watched him gaze wide-eyed at a supermarket checkout bar code scanner in action, something most of us see every other day or so, and apparently decided that he must lead a sheltered life.
So they decided it would be prudent to give him more time for star-gazing.
GOPe, Rah rah rah. How’s that?

GHW Bush was one of the G.D. Roosievelt Repubs that was installed to disrupt Nixon and Reagan administrations. He was an enemy of Conservatism, a CIA puppet and except for his valiant WW-2 Service was as worthy as piss in the soup!

Not every President is going to be a Reagan. President Reagan was . After saying that, 41 was a decent President. Yeah, “Read My Lips, No New Taxes” was a huge mistake. But he was splendid in managing the end of the Cold War by making sure the collapsing Soviet Union wasn’t provoked into keeping the Iron Curtain intact. Oh, expelling Saddam out of Kuwait and not invading Iraq to eliminate the dictator was the right move as well, IMHO.

Well, I won’t give you any grief over that. My take on him wasn’t all that bad, but I will couch that with the fact that coming out of Reagan’s terms, I hadn’t been awakened by Clinton yet.

I learned a lot from the antics under Clinton. If I were to go back and live through 41’s term again, I might see it quite differently.

For instance, there were some globalist organizations set up while he was on watch. I think some of those were a huge mistake. His One World Order speech didn’t leave much doubt about his true loyalties. We see that more and more these days.

How do you live through the trying times that man lived through, and not grasp internationalist traps? Joining together during times of war is entirely different than doing it by design in peace-time, and that will serve to hobble us.

Of course his new taxes was a pin in the eye too, as you mentioned.

His sons don’t get it either. They’re all thrilled we’re propping China up, and allowed the third world to swamp us.

Who needs ‘supposed’ enemies when you have friends like this?
