This might have been caused by a series medical problem. As far as that's concerned, FTA:

Those "abnormal electrical discharges" can be caused by a brain tumor, as with Teddy Kennedy and Robert Novak. Hence, I will withhold judgment until we know more.

Such seizures can last for four or five minutes. Some also become “generalized,” affecting the entire brain and leading to unconsciousness. Even if that doesn’t happen, people are generally confused for up to an hour afterward.

My current theory is that Bryson was drugged with the drug Scopolamine, or 'Devil's Breath', and abducted by a foreign enemy to extract (or plant) information and has no recollection of the abduction event. After researching Scopolamine, it's frightening how easy it might be for an enemy of the United States to get sensitive info from someone like Bryson, leaving no memory of it. After coming back to consciousness, with a zombie-like demeanor, crashing into cars on streets he does not remember driving on. An excerpt from a recent Reuters news story:

Victims become so docile that they have been known to help thieves rob their homes and empty their bank accounts. Women have been drugged repeatedly over days and gang-raped or rented out as prostitutes...'
