Utopia....unfortunately they think it really exists & can found in socialism
It DOES exist in socialism -- for THEM.
In Communism, the standard of living for most people goes down. BUT, for the inner Party, you have people who get to live like royalty. Communism rewards people who can be relied upon to support the system with utter ruthlessness, people who may not know how to produce anything that the private sector would find valuable, but ARE skilled in political intrigue.
Communism makes sense when you understand that it is a conspiracy by an articulate Elite, to enslave the productive middle-class, using the thuggish help of the Underclass.

The utopia which the Marxists seek used to exist in our evolutionary history, and that is where they were programmed to seek it out. There was an environment where resources were available to all equally, and competition between individuals was actually disadvantageous. You can actually find pre-Liberal and pre-Conservative psychologies throughout nature in these same environments.
When we overpopulated our initial home territory, it became very competitive, and violent. Resources were apportioned preferentially to the most fit and able. In Population Biology this is called a K-selective environment, and Conservatives evolved to exist in it. Every trait of Conservatism is exactly what one would expect from a K-selected popualtion, from Competitiveness, to monogamy, to high-investment rearing, to loyalty to in-group.
Early pre-Liberals fled from this violence, and landed in their Utopia. As they migrated, they landed in uninhabited territories with brand new, untapped, copious resources. This was an r-selected environment of free resource availability. No one had to compete to get resources, and it favored every trait the modern Liberal exhibits, from aversions to competition, to promiscuity to low-investment rearing, to lack of loyalty to in-group. Today, Liberals score high on preference for novel environments, even as the gene associated with formation of a Liberal ideology is found in high numbers in migratory popualtions.
Liberalism is merely an intellectual manifestation of this ancient Darwinian strategy to seek out an Anticompetitive environment of free resource availability for all.
