White House: Unemployment 'Will Not Be Solved Overnight'
ABC News ^ | 6/1/12 | Mary Bruce

Posted on 06/01/2012 1:26:40 PM PDT by Justaham

In its first reaction to this morning's worse-than-expected jobs report, the White House stressed that the nation is still fighting back from the recession and that the "problems in the job market were long in the making and will not be solved overnight."

"There is much more work that remains to be done to repair the damage caused by the financial crisis and deep recession that began at the end of 2007," Alan Krueger, Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers, writes in a White House blog.

"Just like last year at this time, our economy is facing serious headwinds, including the crisis in Europe and a spike in gas prices that hit American families' finances over the past months. It is critical that we continue the President's economic policies that are helping us dig our way out of the deep hole that was caused by the severe recession," Krueger adds, pointing to the president's legislative "to-do list" for Congress to boost the economy, which he will be promoting today in Minneapolis.

The economy added just 69,000 jobs last month, below expectations of 150,000, and the unemployment rate ticked up to 8.2 percent, the Labor Department announced this morning.

Krueger notes that the economy has added private sector jobs for 27 straight months and points to manufacturing, education and health services, and transportation and warehousing as areas where employment continues to expand.

As it does every month, the White House stresses that the monthly figures can be "volatile" and that "it is important not to read too much into any one monthly report."

Been following the news for fifty years, and only in the last year or two has the economy mysteriously encountered previously unknown "headwinds." I have not heard of these "headwinds" before--whence do they come, and why did they never appear until recently?

How sad for the Usurper, that his genius plans are suddenly being stymied by pesky outside forces, for which, of course, he is blameless.

Apparently, it won't be solved after 3.5 years, either.

It will be changed overnight.

With a Romney vicory, on the morning of November 7th, there will be a new dawn. A new hope, and American companies will start to hire again because they know they will not be prosecuted for being successful.

40 months, 1200 days and nights is not 'overnight'.

I would ask just how stupid does this administration think the American people are but given that they elected this horse's ass I already know.

the ultimate goal is to have a sustained 10% “reportable” unemployment, which will put us on par with his socialist utopias in Europe.

Obama’s much vaunted jobs programs are working even less well than his beloved Soviet Union.

The answer?

Hey, give me four more years!

The worst and by far most destructive president in the entire history of the United States continues to disassemble the nation and flush it, piece by piece, down the toilet.

He just needs another four years, comrades, to complete the job.

Your words made me vomit.

An Obama failure will certainly be something to celebrate, heck, I’d celebrate if the worthless bastard dropped dead from a stroke. BUT a RINO Romney win will not bring “a new dawn” or “new hope” to America.

For “a new dawn” and “new hope”, we would have had to put a real conservative in the White House... and that damn sure isn’t Romney.

Now, you can go on to live your fantasy, but at least know it’s seen by many to be nothing more than a fantasy.

We now have the most ignorant electorate in the history of American elections. I believe we have the most corrupt government and media our country has ever seen.... and Romney with his GOP-e isn’t going to change any of that.

In the end, Americans will get the country it apparently wants and a country it so richly deserves.
