The widow of President Ronald Reagan says she is firmly behind Romney. And she says that her "Ronnie" would have liked Romney's business background and what she calls his "strong principles."

In a statement issued after the Romneys' visit, Mrs. Reagan said she believes that Romney has the experience and leadership skills that, in her words, "our country so desperately needs."

You mean there’s a difference between the twins Willard & Zero ?

There is a lot of brilliant political insight here on FR. Yours is not one of them.

Salve

I respect your house and your ideas, I stay away from injecting my thoughts or feelings of what I think for it will be disrespectful to you.

On this occasion I must say something:

I know you are all frustrated, for in reality you are living in tough choices you have to make, either people like it or not is reality. We can have disagreements, that is part of life, but you can’t have arguments about things that will not help you to turn things around. House devided, will fall, enemies are reading your information and thoughts you are putting in writing, and they calculate their moves.

This is not a time for disagreements; you must put differences aside and make sure that Senate and House of Representatives is under true conservative control, by fighting you are weaking the true couse of your fight.

You want to bring enemy to your turf, not other way around, or you will lose – Is that what you want?

As for Madam Nancy, she has more access to information then we all do, I fully understand your frustration and thinking, that She was used to bring more conservative to opponent of Obama, that could be a game, nonetheless, Betty White have said outrageous things and show who she is for, while Madam Nancy who is much smarter than people think, and has more political insides as Margaret Thatcher is being thought as a fool.

No. If there is manipulation then yes, it is disgusting but I think there’s more to it then is being written and spoken about. Fact is this, choices you have are limited, put your country first and think, and as for emotions let you deal with it later. This not the time.

I think Madam Nancy can hold her own, do I feel there is some ploy, I can’t say it or write it, but I do know one thing: She loves her country and she is not stupid. This is politics friends, either we like it or not, but you can’t divide yourselves, not now.

Merci

Indeed, just as Reagan was apprehensive of Bush Sr, who got us the “no new taxes” BS flip flop to make the GOP look and act like the worst economy party ever... hole we are barely getting out of, only to see another RINOcrat Romney come in and threaten the whole thing, so Massachussets like, and probably a Manchurian Democrate himself, bland, without passion, riding on a demoralized base and without support from the welfare sheeple because Zero has a definite Forrest Gump loony hatey lock on hold on it.

I’m very busy, but would appreciate it if you’d specify what I wrote that you consider a “psychotic, slanderous lie.”

You can’t, of course, and so I’d appreciate it even more if you’d simply foam on someone else.

I voted for Barry Goldwater when conservative wasn’t cool...

You may remember the incident then, the protest against the conservatives and Goldwater, and Ronald Reagan.

Mitt was actually there with his governor dad.

1964 - Conservative hero Barry Goldwater was leading the race for the Republican nomination against his main opponent, the arch-establishment left-wing shill, Nelson Rockefeller. Romney viciously attacked Goldwater as "suicidal" for the Republican Party.
At the Republican National Convention in 1964, with son Mitt in attendance, George Romney joined the Rockefeller Republicans in bashing Goldwater and his allies (including Ronald Reagan), calling him an extremist for his unapologetic defence of free markets and limited government under the Constitution. Ronald Reagan strongly defended Goldwater in a rousing speech defending economic and personal liberty as the system that was intended by the Founding Fathers. Goldwater won the nomination in a landslide. Romney then refused to support Goldwater's campaign against President Johnson, and said so very explicitly. Lyndon Johnson used this in his campaign ads to great effect

Lyndon Johnson ad using George Romney's anti-conservative rhetoric which Mitt was raised on and has lived.
George Romney in LBJ 1964 Presidential Campaign Commercial

“Look, I was an independent during the time of Reagan-Bush. I’m not trying to return to Reagan-Bush.”

“I’m not a partisan politician. My hope is that, after this election, it will be the moderates of both parties who will control the Senate, not the Jesse Helmses.”

I didn’t see a thing about Nancy Reagan here.

You sure did in post 166, but you don't find any fault with her or Mitt's pro-abortion convictions.

NANCY REAGAN "I don't give a damn about the Pro-Lifers," and demanding that all mention of abortion be removed from the president's 1987 State of the Union address.

You claim to know more accurately what Ronald Reagan would have done, than his wife of over 50 years?!

Don't you know, the interwebs make people both genius and psychic.

You liberals are ruining the Republican Party. We need to exterminate you and your filth. I think it is tragic that you are putting a simpleton like Romney on a pedistal. What a disaster you are.

People are making way too much out of this. Nancy Reagan is a 90 year old woman. Let her endorse whoever she wants to endorse. The truth is that no one — not even her — knows who her late husband would have endorsed. But who cares if she says Ronald Reagan would have endorsed Romney? She’s 90 and not some political guru at this point in her life. Read the story and move on.

Here's another link to the same info here on FR.

ROMNEY PICKS UP MIKE HUCKABEE, CONDOLIZA RICE, GEORGE SHULTZ, AND NANCY REAGAN'S ENDORSEMENTS

That one also includes what Huckabeem, Condoliza Rice, and George shultz recently said int their endorsements.

It then links to a site where the endorsements of all of the following, and what they said and the day they said them when endorsing Mitt Romney...including Sarah Palin's words.

ENDORSEMENTS FOR ROMNEY CONTINUE TO GROW

Mike Huckabee
condoliza Rice
George Shultz
Nacny Reagan
Rick Santorum
Newt Gingrich
Michelle Bachman
Rick Perry
George W. Bush
Rudy Guliania
Mitch McConnel
Herman Cain
Dick Cheney
Sarah Palin
Paul Ryan
Marco Rubio
Jim Demint
Jeb Bush
John Lehman
John Huntsman
Nicki Hailey
Christine O'Donnell
John Bolton
John Mccain
Paul Pawlenty
John Sununu
Christ Christie
Darrel Issa
John Kasich
John Voinovich
Tom Foley
Bob McConnell
John Ashcroft
Eric Cantor
John Boener
Connie Mack
Dennis Hastert
Richard Shelby
Dana Rohrbacher

That's a long list of well known, prominant and distinguished names. Many of them all-American conservatives who have been fighting for our Republic and its conservative foundations for decades.

Does anyone honestly think Romney has fooled all of these people?

Does anuyone honestly think he would spend all this political capitol to get them to help him get elected only to turn 180 degrees on them as soon as he is sworn in?

I don't...not at all. I think he plans to do what he has committed to on his own campaign page regarding the issues...and why wouldn't he?

If he does, the nation will turn around. It is just waiting for someone to loosen the regulations, reduce federal spending, ramp up our abundant energy, lower corporate and individual taxes and turn the economic engine loose and let it roar.

If he simply does those things, which is what he says he will do (and which we know Obama will do none of), and with majorities in the House and Senate to support it...we will see a huge and relatively fast economic recovery, a huge increase in jobs, stronger defense, the end of Obama Care, and Romney will get credit for all of it...and justifiably so.

What politician would not want that?

It would ensure a second four years for him as President and he would have achieved the apex of any political career and be remembered in history along the lines of a Ronald Reagan if it happens.

I think that outcome is much, much more apt to occur if we can get him elected...and to defeat Obama, I intend to do all I can to help make it happen.

God's speed!

I like the tenor of your post but I want to reply to something.

As for Madam Nancy, she has more access to information then we all do,

I don't want to assume she's not in command of her faculties and being fed talking points like a pawn, but being as old as she is even if she has any "more information" than the public at large (which I doubt) it's offset by a decreased ability to process that information.

I await assassination at the hands of the Grey Panthers.

Nancy was born, Anne Frances Robbins, in 1921.

She was an actress in the 40s and 50s and met Ronald Reagan when she sought his help (he was President of the Screen Actors Guild at the time) when she was mistakenly black listed and needed his help to clear it up.

He helped her and they started dating in 1949.

They were married in 1952...so when he died, they had been married 52 years.

Just check it out before you call someone a liar...cause it was not a lie.

What are the “strong principles” Nancy is referring to? Does she mean Romney’s stances on both sides of every issue? Or his claim that he learned to support abortion from his mother? Maybe she means his statement last month that “two people of the same gender in a loving relationship” should be able to adopt children.

If those are his principles-—and I have to assume they are, since they are proven by his actions, and not just platitudes mouthed to gullible crowds-—she can have them. I can’t imagine Reagan supporting that, myself, but even if he would have, I want no part of it.
