I had been asked to walk in the Media Memorial Day Parade, due to knowing the veterans for many years and working with them at Veterans Nights at The Media Theatre.
Ed Buffman had asked me to assist with carrying the PA Veterans Museum Banner, as has been done regularly several times before.
I had with me a Gay Pride Flag, one that was to memorialize all of this country's gays and lesbians who had died in the line of duty. I wanted to drape it over my shoulders as a quiet remembrance.
I was told point blank by Ed Buffman and the chair of the Veterans Museum, "No, you cannot have that in our parade. It's too political."
I am confused. Are not all wars political? Is being black political? Is being in a wheelchair because you have lost your legs in the war political?
Three other veterans agreed with Buffman, that it was too 'political.' (It was only after I left the PA Veterans Museum that I realized the entire parade was a political event!)
I saw Ed a second time on the street. In all honesty, I gave him a friendly "Boo" and thumbs down, as we have known each other for years.
A lesbian couple that he asked to play the bagpipes in the parade were standing with him. I said to him, "This flag is for the gays and lesbians who have lost their lives so you can live here today."

If they did serve out contry and die, then you are as beholden to them, and their blood, for your freedom, as you are anyone else who fought and died for America.
Gays go too far in demanding special rights - agreed. But there are plenty of gays you'll never know about, who don't advertise, and who live upstanding lives - including fighting and dying for this country. To throw that out because you're disgusted with their sexuality is just as wrong as them throwing you out because their disgusted with yours.
And if they shed their blood for the safety of you and your family, they deserve full honor for that sacrifice. As Jesus said, "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." Which means that when a homosexual soldier makes such a sacrifice, while you are spitting with contempt, Jesus is holding them in his arms.

Since the queers are so hot to be in the military, put them all in the same unit, and send it to the fiercest fighting, bring them back in rainbow colored body bags.
I’ve been retired in Aiken County, SC for 10 years and have been to every Memorial Day Parade in that time.
Last year about 6 or 8 the queers and fags (yes, even in this ultra conservative area we have a few) marched in the parade carrying a banner that said, “Out and Proud in Aiken County,” or some such. As they walked by the folks around me started booing. I walked down the side walk for a block or so, pacing them in the parade.
Remember the “wave” in football stadiums? People at the parade were cheering and clapping for the parade participants. But as soon as they saw the queers they started booing. After the queers went by they went back to cheering and clapping.
Fortunately, the queers and fags didn’t make the parade this year. Maybe they didn’t enjoy the ridicule last year?

Since when did a sexual fetish need to be discussed during a memorial day ceremony?
There will be children present. There is no reason to expose them to a sexual fetish.

I never heard of LetsbeAnn bagpipers. Kilts are not for women. Scots pipers are men-- all men, and wear kilts -- and they wear 'em regimental, too.
Ed doesn't know much about the pipes tradition nor of The Colors and neither does this Ricker. Let him drape his "Gay Pride" flag from a leetle lower down. /IMO
They served under a false premise and lied to serve in our armed services.
Once having spoken with such an effete poof, I'd cross a busy street to avoid doing so again. His manner makes my skin crawl.
Homosexuals want special recognition, privilege & rights solely because of the way in which they have sex. It defines the very fiber of their being, and they insist that the rest of the world know it. Bottom line.
Show us the roll of honor of homosexual recipients of the Silver Star, Distinguished Service Cross, & Medal of Honor.

Someone should call this bigot out as to why he is only concerned with a flag to represent one type of sexual perverted behavior (homosexuality) that someone who served may or may not have participated in. Where was his flag to represent pedophelia? Or bestiality? Or S&M? Or nudists? Or infantialism? Or swingers into group sex? Why is this bigot excluding these behaviors???
They didn't "die in the line of duty" because they were queer, any more than they next man or woman died because he or she was straight.

Personally, I'd like people to say "Hey, that's WBill. He's a pretty nice guy." Or, "That WBill, he's got a great family." Or, "Man, WBill works his butt off. He does a good job." and so on.
I suppose that if I'd never accomplished a dammed thing with my life, I'd want people to say "That WBill, what a heterosexual white guy he is.....". 'Tis better to be identified by that, I guess, than what they really might be thinking. :-)
