If it weren't for Sarah Palin, the last convention would have been the most uninspiring that I can recall going all the way back to Goldwater. Fox News has invested heavily in Obama's defeat. Can Rove and the Republican estblishment deliver or will Romeney insist on calling the shots given what happened in 2008. Any thoughts?
News? Activism?
The mere thought of mitt calling the shots is one of the reasons I did not vote for him in our primary. I know many here think ABO, but I don’t like mitt.

I’ll be choosing from the following list of activities on GOP Convention day.
1.Taking my labrador on a hike around little Lake Tomahawk, WI..
2.Re-watching Downton Abbey’s entire last season.
3.Re-watching Donald Driver’s line dance and all of his other performances on DWTS.
4.Working on my Colin Firth scrapbook.
5.All of the above.
Sorry, won’t have time to catch the Mitt, Annie and Karl show, hosted by Brit Hume from Fox News Satellite in sunny Tampa.
But hear they’ll be serving Cousin’s subs. Buy one, get one free.
“Can Rove and the Republican estblishment deliver or will Romeney insist on calling the shots given what happened in 2008. Any thoughts?”
Willard and the nomenklatura are warp and weft. They are united and they will win. This is the life’s work of G. H. W. Bush, and it marks the extinction of conservative influence in the GOP. We are evicted. They have taken THEIR party back.
RINOS and Rove LOST to Obama in 2008. Another loss in 2012 dooms them - and will necessarily create an alternate political party that can take back America from leftists, liberals, democrat-lites, marxists, socialists, commies and and a GOP that continues to spit upon the tea party and conservatives. Romney is not now nor has he ever been the choice of mainstream America. The GOP (and RINOs) believe it’s “his turn.” It may well be the last turn of the GOP (and the shunning of RINOs) if their candidate loses.
Of course, but the question asked in this thread is:
GOP Convention: Will it be an GOP Convention: Will it be an Ailes/Rove Production?
?
The answer is yes, GOP Convention the Ailes/Rove Production Company will write the script for the conservatives and the TV viewing audience to follow, and excitement will be generated, and at the climax, all the diverse wings of the Party shall march forth united to help Our Nominee defeat the Evil Obamas!

Faux News will have a grand show with glamorous infobabes, whose legs will be the only reason to tune in. Otherwise, it will be a celebration of RINO-ism complete with the little man on the wedding cake.
I love Downton Abbey and taking my lab for a walk, but I shall be watching the entire Republican convention and enjoying it thoroughly.
Go team!
Yeah, it should be a boring convention. (rolling eyes)
Speeches from the new Republican governors in Wisconsin, South Carolina, Virginia, Michigan and Florida.
Plus throw in some good speeches from Alan West, Gov Christie, Newt, Gov Perry, Herb Cain, Rick Santorum and Sarah Palin.
Sounds like a real snoozer. (rolling eyes again)
It will be a sick corrupt convention of a sick corrupt party running a sick corrupt candidate.
I hope 40,000 Ron Paul supporters swamp the show!
I told Jim he should allow suitable ads on the site. Now I REALLY think he should, because with comments like yours conservatives are going to boycott this place.
I was at a family event today, and a political discussion ensued, a rarity because there are a wide variety of backgrounds, geographic influences and political opinions.
A former VP of Sales now unemployed at 60, a doctor from Connecticut who is the son of a bigtime Democrat donor and frequent delegate going back to Adlai Stevenson, a staunch Democrat farmer, still active and farming in his eighties, and me.
We all agreed, Obama has got to go. The Connecticut doctor said these aren’t Democrats, they’re thinly disguised communists. The elderly still-Democrat farmer said it pained him to agree but he did. The now unemployed former VP of Sales was absolutely irate about the whole thing, and said he’d spent every bit of the free time forced upon him to get that b*tard out of office.
No one was enthused about Romney. He’d better milk the ABO anger for all its worth because there is no excitement for him whatsoever.
It’ll be a dud, with little or no enthusiasm. The only thing that will be notable will be how shabby they treaty Palin and the SarahPAC booth once they set up shop and suck all the air out of the convention hall.
” - - - It may well be the last turn of the GOP (and the shunning of RINOs) if their candidate loses.”
Sometimes the obvious needs to be repeated. Right now the are 50-50.
It’s time to storm the convention and throw Mitt out!
The Texas GOP Primary is next week. Think about that, the largest block of GOP primary voters ballots have not been cast yet. Will I have to vote for Crazy Uncle Ron? We shall see. And then the TX GOP Convention (I will be there, and do not expect it to be Mitt love affair).
The TX Republican Party is not run by the DC Establishment Republicans.
We shall see how they react to the grass roots from here.
They are not going to like anything I have to offer. I will be at the TX GOP Convention....

Mitt. Its time you quit!
Your credibility isnt worth spit.
RINOs, the Establishment, and Democrats all agree,
But in the General Election, to Obama theyll flee.
Against Obama, liberals and moderates know youll lose.
But conservatives, Romney theyll never choose.
Mitt, our loyalty you cant buy.
Back to Massachusetts, youd better fly.
Just like Gerald Ford, Bob Dole, and John McCain,
Nominee Willard Mitt Romney will result in the same.
As a Governor, your record isnt that great.
Out of 50 states, your popularity was number 48.
Your experience, the Establishment types tout.
Defending federal bailouts and FDIC loan forgiveness will find you out.
Democrats and RINOs cower from their liberal wives,
Supporting Romney with nothing but lies.
In 1994 Ted Kennedy showed Willard to be a great bane,
With Mitts Bain, and Bain Capital, Obama will do the same.
Damon Corp, with Romney paid $119 million in a fine.
Yet Willard says, for his leadership, its time.
He claims jobs he can create and taxes he can lower,
47th out of 50 in growth he rates. Can it get any slower?
$740.5 million dollars a year, fees and taxes under Mitt increased.
Will the half-truths and lies from Romney ever cease?
For Liberty and Freedom, we dont need Flakes,
But Romney says Healthcare responsibilities belong to the States.
Conservatives stand for Self-responsibility, Self-accountability, and Self-reliance.
But against these things, Willards actions scream in defiance.
Establishment Republicans thinks Romney can help take back the Senate,
But they know that for President, Mitt can NOT win it.
Like everything the Establishment Republicans try to do,
It leads to failure, and we get the bill, as well as the screw.
In their corruption, little change do they seek,
They dont want our Freedom to peak.
Their craving for power has pushed their bravery,
To ignore our Constitution, and sell us into economical slavery.
So Willard, dont lecture us on the need for patience and compromise.
Romney, be selfless. Conservatism is on the rise.
Choosing the lesser of two evils, isnt what we desire.
You let them rewrite the language. Wheres your fire?
Romney, they accuse us falsely, and you do little.
Wheres your response, or can you only twiddle?
Mitt, you dont have what it takes to lead.
So with you I plead.
Do you really want to go from Obama-care to Romney-care?
With you, this nation will pull out its hair!
Go somewhere and quietly think
and sit.
Know your own limitations! Mitt. Its time you quit!

I for one will be watching the convention, maybe have a few local freepers over to my pad to nosh, drink, kibbitz, freeptalk and make merry with me.
The gloom-and-doomers posting here can keep their TVs dark and go to bed at 9:30 for all I care. They wouldn't even watch the Chicago Bears play the Twelve Apostles if Romney and Rove were the coaches.
As for me and my freeper friends, we'll kick back, have a ball, maybe some pizza and Arizona Watermelon Tea.....and enjoy life as the GOP personality-parade flashes across the screen......while we smile, laugh, nod, applaud, boo, hiss and tear apart what they're wearing.
Leni
Well, you can fill me in, altura..er, maybe not.
I agree, Psalm.
The Bushes will be dancin’ on Convention Eve..and pattin’ themselves on the back for a JOB WELL DONE.
Rove: guest of honor at the event.
with comments like yours conservatives are going to boycott this place.

Never happen. Where would they go?

The convention in 2008 was fantastic as far as its logistics and production...even with McCain being the final act (most watched convention speech in history - higher than Obama’s) and the ticket was riding very high after that convention - even our standing in congressional races was dramatically improved...all of that fizzled out with the outbreak of the financial crisis.
Mourdock overwhelmingly defeated Lugar in Indiana - the same exact voters also overwhelmingly voted for Romney. That is not the only place that has happened with similar circumstances. Our voters have chosen Romney...as strange as it seems, it is true...and if they were just following the establishment lead, then Lugar would have also been the overwhelming victor...but he not only lost, he lost in a landslide.
Which is exactly why the Democrat leadership waited until after the conventions to pull the plug on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
You realize they were in a position to control the timing...???
LOL! carcraft was just trying to exhibit "hep-ness" by parroting an earlier article. Still plent of conservatives left here, but a number seem to be flipping out and developing a fatal case of tunnel vision with a field of vision that doesn't allow them to see/focus on Obama.
I’d take the dog for the walk. Of all your options, the lab makes the best company.
We wanted a true leader, but we got...
No Mitt is not timid when attacking his right flank. He is Milquetoast when going on the attack to the left however.
An odd reaction to a very mild and sensible comment.
Personally I think ads would be better than the constant space and time consuming pledge drives, but conservatives have already left the site because of abuse from fanatics such as you seem to be.
Mitt DID do a good job with the Olympics and he did do a good job in business and he did do a good job running a campaign for the nomination.
I think he’ll do a decent job as president and find it hard to understand people who allow their hatred of Mitt Romney to destroy their reason and cause them to ... in effect ... support Obama.
Amen, Leni. Sit back and pout or join in and celebrate our great country and the possibilities ahead.
I’ll admit I won’t have quite the feeling I did when George W. Bush was nominated... Texas, black tie and boots, Laura and the twins and all that jazz, but I think it will be great.
Yes, some of us still have Bible-derived principles. Very few, I guess. Even the proprietor has muffled his criticism of the abortionist homosexual enabler. Got to keep the donations from the center left flowing in.
Congrats!
You insulted God, me and Jim all in one post.
I hope he reads it, but I won’t ping him like the sniveling cowards do.
You seem to be the epitome of the secular mainstream RINO in-it-for-a-tax-cut and to hell with what-is-right. Yeah, I see great possibilities ahead for those of you who are becoming increasingly comfortable accepting evil with a dollar bill attached.
