Florida Gov. Rick Scott decided not to ignore the elephant in the room upon returning Thursday from a weeklong trade mission to Spain.
Scott told reporters at Miami International Airport he apologized if he had done anything wrong in Madrid earlier this week while meeting the Spanish King Juan Carlos. During the visit, Scott repeatedly asked the monarch about his recent and controversial elephant hunt in Botswana. The 74-year-old king injured both his hip and his public standing by going on the expensive hunt while his country confronts a deep financial crisis.
In videos of the encounter, Scott walks into the room telling the monarch: I still want to hear -- I've ridden elephants, but I've still never tried to shoot one.

I fail to see the faux pas. What a stretch, commies. Can’t wait til you are gone from the WH.

Boy he makes liberal heads explode.
I agree. The guy went on an elephant hunt. Rick Scott was interested in it. We don’t recognize royalty as being “above” us in the US. I would hope that, if given the chance, Scott would press the Boy-King Obama about some of his lavish taxpayer funded vacations too.
Gov. Rick Scott commits faux pas...
Faux pas... Really? Did he try and speak “Austrian”?
He cut 15,000 state employees. He’s good by me.
He’s also working on reforming FL public sector pensions calling for a 3% mandatory contribution.
Pensions are all but gone in the private sector. Why should people who don’t have pensions pay for state government pensions? Time to enter the 21st century FL.
I’m with Scott, I want to hear about it.
What the heck is a Governor of a state going to Spain? This is one of many reasons why we are in such debt. Absolutely no reason for him to be in Spain with our debt so high. Take care of Florida Governor and leave the country of Spain to the EU.
Absolutely. Federal government workers contribute 3 percent towards their retirement in the TSP which is the main retirement program now. If federal government can do it, the state of Florida can too. Although the Governor traipsing over to Spain is 100 percent unnecessary.
Look up the word trade mission
Actually living in Florida one of the main reasons Florida is lagging in the summer of recovery III is we do not make many things in Florida and need to grow our international trade
It used to be a point of pride that American citizens bowed to no foreign monarch. There was a US ambassador to China who made a big stir by refusing to kowtow or even kneel to the Emperor - "I kneel only to God and Woman."
When the Queen visited my home town a long time ago, my mother taught us to curtsy properly. We were big Anglophiles, and of course we were kids and it was only polite. But we NEVER would have criticized somebody who declined to. How things have changed.
For crying out loud, Scott, if he asks for a loan, DON’T GIVE HIM ONE...
Except maybe when Moochelle grabbed the queen for a hug
or maybe when obama bowed to the king of Saudi, president of China and and emperor of Japan
or when Hillary gave the Russians a re-set button that really said “charge”
...Little Emily Litella voice... Oh, never mind ...
And don't forget----the Mayor of Tampa.
Hunting Elephants. That is some Big Game. It’s good to be the King.
It warms my heart to see the media and libs still going after Rick Scott. It tells me they’re still butthurt over him. Go Rick Scott!
Don’t forget when Obama bowed to the Mayor of Tampa.
The Chinese tried to get him to kowtow to the Emperor or even just briefly touch one knee to the ground, but he was having none of it.
And they respected him for it rather than despising him (as they do a certain habitual kow-tower).
