WALTER REED - DC: Post Closing Report May 23,2012

MESSAGE FROM CINDY-TRUE-SUPPORTER:

"Yesterday I (Cindy_True_Supporter) and the mother of a wounded warrior that I met before the closing of Walter Reed- DC had the opportunity to have lunch with Cliff, the evening manager of the Mologne House at WRAMC. He conveyed to me how important our group was outside of Walter Reed with supportive signs of our wounded troops. He stressed that our presence was of tremendous importance in their recovery and in trying to deal with depression and self worth. Our appearance at the gate and on the corners in front of the hospital was something they could count on every Friday evening. They were so amazed that people would care enough to come out over a period of years in any weather condition without an agenda other than supporting our military. So many VIPs went into Walter Reed for a photo op and a pat on their own backs for showing support of our military. Cliff repeatedly remarked on the many times he was told by the patients and their families how much we were appreciated, and that we would probably never know how much good our efforts had on the recovery process of the wounded."

"He asked if our group still got together so I could extend a big THANK YOU on his behalf for Mologne House staff. Since we rarely see each other on a regular basis any more, I’m writing this message to tell all of our group of patriots who came out to WRAMC - YOU WERE SO IMPORTANT IN THE HEALING OF OUR MILITARY!"

I am pleased that I could participate in a (too!) few of the WRAMC FReeps before I had to move to Floriduh to look after my late mother. Made a few more after I moved, but not nearly enough!

Each WRAMC FReep was VERY special. The FReeRepublic DC Chapter and all the other Real Americans who gave up their FRiday nights to thank our troops for their sacrifices are also VERY special.

Proud to be a FReeper, and glad that, in some small way, we made a difference to those troops.

Taxman Bravo Zulu! to each and every one of the FReepers, Lurkers and Real Americans who came out on FRiday to stand with us against the forces of evil.

Mega Taxman Bravo Zulus to the troops!

Eagles up!

The DC Chapter have always been the most extraordinary FReepers where activism is concerned.

Bless you and keep you.

Mega Dittos on your kudos to the DC Chapter. [Mrs] T and I joined FR in the early months of the rallies. [We were on our 25 Anniversary cruise when ConcreteBob took over the moonbats corners.

Mega Thanks for your participation at WR.

Good to hear from you.

DC Chapter is a great group to be associated with. Of course DC is a moonbat rich locale that keeps us on our toes.

I love the wonderful memories I have for the few times I made it up from Texas to DC to stand with you guys.

You have all been an inspiration to me for years because of your dedication.

I’m pleased that some of the warriors looked forward to seeing the Freepers there every week.

Almost makes me want to catch up all the missed after-action reports...almost.

This thread is a keeper.

Well this made me cry! One of the best things I ever did while in D.C in the last decade. A sharp salute to all who served rain or shine.

You are welcome, but being one of the early stalwarts of the DC Chapter, I thank you for your patriotism and support.

Great minds think a like. I have been meaning to ask you about the archives. This would be a great thread to start with and work your way back. I could even lend a hand and FRmail you some of the links.

I have to admit I loved every night there.

Some memories are extra clear: Uncle Sam hat, bathing suit beauty, Darth Cheney Vader, President Bush, and dozens of red white and blue outfits and even shoes and handbags are special memories. I can’t even eat pizza without getting blurry vision!

I will miss seeing you all this summer. How about a reunion? I am sure the crazies will make a need for counter protests.

Yep, lots of memories, hurricanes, snow storms, thunder storms, one Friday started at 20 degrees and when we left it was 12 degrees.

Not having ever served, please accept my salute back at you. Thank you for your service.

Hey 3D. Every Friday you were there was memorable but you mentioned the more memorable ones.

First time we met was when you were in a wheel chair at Arlington Cemetery countering Phelps. It took you a while to get to WR that summer but you made it. You are one of the many close friends [Mrs] T and I have made at WR. Special thanks to you for spending your summer vacations with us.

A reunion without the crazies would be better. We periodically have Chapter meetings and then there is the Chapter Christmas Party. Hope to see you next time you are up this way even if it only a few of us. Mongolian BBQ anyone?

I am almost sure we will have an election night party but you will probably be busy where you are.

[Mr] T

Thanks for the ping and to Cindy for relaying the message.

I have many fond memories of Friday night at Walter Reed: the best one was toward the time of closing and moving it, we had a sparkler parade from all 4 corners meet the bus of those who had gone out to dinner! And Bill’s patriotic music, the various military flags, all the great food... Joy is right - we need a reunion!
