Will U.S. Sovereignty Be LOST At Sea? Obama Signs U.N. Treaty That Redistributes Drilling Revenues
Forbes ^ | may 20, 2012 | Forbes OpEd

Posted on 05/20/2012 10:18:50 AM PDT by Innovative

A proposed Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST), which has been signed by President Obama but not yet ratified by Congress, will subordinate U.S. naval and drilling operations beyond 200 miles of our coast to a newly established U.N. bureaucracy. If approved, it will grant a Kingston, Jamaica-based International Seabed Authority (ISA) the power to regulate deep-sea oil exploration, seabed mining, and fishing rights.

As part of the deal, as much as 7% of U.S. government revenue that is collected from oil and gas companies operating off our coast will be forked over to ISA for redistribution to poorer, landlocked countries. This apparently is in penance for America's audacity in perpetuating prosperity yielded by our Industrial Revolution.

Like the U.N.'s Kyoto Protocol debacle that preceded it, this most recent LOST cause embodies the progressive ideal of subordinating the sovereignty of nation states to authoritarian dictates of a world body. The U.S. would have one vote out of 160 regarding where the money would go, and be obligated to hand over offshore drilling technology to any nation that wants it... for free.

I see the purpose of this thread as little more than another way to convince conservatives to vote for RINO Romney.

YUP! Just another cattle call for useful idiots on the right.

Another little gem I just came across:

Obama Seeks Sovereignty Surrender Via LOST Treaty

“The treaty was co-authored by Elisabeth Mann Borgese, an admirer of Karl Marx and a socialist who ran the World Federation of Canada.

She views the oceans as the “common heritage of mankind” and in a 1999 speech declared, “The world ocean has been and is, so to speak, our great laboratory for the making of a new world order.”

President Reagan thought it was such a lousy idea that he not only refused to sign, but actually fired the State Department staff that helped negotiate it.

The state department is supposed to work for us and over time we find them being the enemy. At least 90% of that department should be pink slipped. New hires should be required to be natural born citizens. That would perhaps prevent or at least slow down the transition to domestic enemies

When your house is burning down, are you going to stop the firefighters from saving it, because you have a personal dislike of the particular firefighter who is trying to save your house?

When the fire fighter shows up with a flame thrower, you d** right I will try to stop him And Romney has a flame thrower bigger than Obama’s.

Google Goode, a far better choice if the horse does not sing.

it’s worthless without the Senate’s consent.

It’s called an executive order and a Senate that has no testicles will cut our throats.

John Bolton, a smart foreign policy hawk endorsed Romney back in Jan.

Romney’s newest big-name supporter comes out swinging

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-57359141-503544/romneys-newest-big-name-supporter-comes-out-swinging/

“As Mitt Romney’s newest foreign-policy surrogate, former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton made it immediately clear Friday that he’s prepared to be one of the fiercest attack dogs of President Obama’s foreign policy.

Bolton endorsed Romney earlier this week. In touting the former Massachusetts governor’s candidacy, Bolton said voters “want a president who has judgment, who has steadiness of purpose, who has leadership, who won’t falter in a crisis, and who doesn’t believe that the role of America in the world is to be a well-bred doormat.”

“Of course, R-Money, the current RiNO/Yacht Club/NWO candidate, wouldn’t touch any of those NWO holy grails — hell, he would probably sign some more of ‘em if Bribeme Annan and Bunko Moon pushed them Mitty’s way.”

Exactly! And best of all - the Republicans go along with it!

Better enemy fire than friendly fire.

“Romney has a flame thrower bigger than Obama’s.”

Making a ludicrous claim that Romney would be worse than Obama for the country, only demonstrates your lack of understanding of the results of an Obama presidency and your belief that everyone on this board is so incredibly ignorant, that they would believe such statement.

Please ignore the statement in paranthesis.

(This is a polite way of saying — are you that stupid, or do you think we are?)

Since when does 0 follow the Constitution? He will do what he can get away with. He has made it plain he intends to work around Congress, too.

Note that the commentariat has been pounding this theme:
Forward is good. Anything else is backward. Implicit theme: You wouldn’t want to be backward, would you?

Thanks for the link but LOST has been around for 20 years. I'm well aware what it is. So Romney's going to unsign it right?
I see your starting with the personal attacks downthread so let me explain ahead of your reply.
If someone asked if I was a pervert my immediate answer would be "NO". You're telling me I need to change that to "Under certain circumstances for my country"
The short answer: No way,no how,not ever. I fear no man enough to change my core beliefs.

he only gets 10 years of SS protection.

I’m curious how will the SS be accommodated when Obama is in prison? Does his detail get the cells either side of his cell?

Yep and they only exist in Barry’s dreams.

"As part of the deal, as much as 7% of U.S. government revenue that is collected from oil and gas companies operating off our coast will be forked over to ISA for redistribution to poorer, landlocked countries."

Which will more quickly bring a bond collapse and layoffs of political regulators/busybodies. Okay.

The Democrat party, controlled by a small faction of communists/socialists, is in a full out sprint for the cliff where they can leap into that factions oh so glorious utopia. The media, screaming and wetting their panties in excitement, cheering them on. The GOP-E and rinos, with Romney in the lead, are five yards back and mad as hell that they wont be able to jump at the same time as their friends.

Both parties are well to the left of the political spectrum when they belong to the right of center. The Democrats slightly right of center and the Republicans further to the right.

This is what you get with Obama -- can we afford four more years?!

Stop blaming Obama D**N it! His reality is bad enough.
To become valid, all treaties must re ratified by the Senate (originally representing states only.)

Thow those enablers on their butts out of office and the Great Uniter is powerless.
