Coal Miners Protest Biden In Ohio

Coal miners upset with the Obama administration’s policies on energy protested Vice President Joe Biden’s campaign rally here.

More than 100 coal miners and tea party activists stood on a hill overlooking Biden’s speech holding signs like "Biden said 'no more coal in America'" and “Stop the war on coal, fire Obama.”

Mitchell Metzler a miner and Iraq war veteran, said he came to the protest after finishing his midnight shift at the mine. “I spent a year in Iraq serving my country, and now they want to take away my job,” he said.

Kevin Hughes, the superintendent at the American Energy Corporation Century Mine in Beallsville, Ohio, which organized the rally of its workers, said the reason they were protesting is simple: President Barack Obama’s regulatory agenda is killing jobs.

“We want to save our jobs. We want to save this valley,” he said.

Ed Good, an electrician at a local coal-fired power plant and a member of the Obama campaign’s “Truth Team” dismissed the notion that there is a “war on coal,” noting that coal mining jobs reached a 14-year high last year, but acknowledging that there are still problems with the Environmental Protection Agency.

Good mentioned that when Mitt Romney was governor of Massachusetts he too took a hard line on coal. “Back then the governor was saying I’m going to shut down any plant that kills people — he was referring to a coal plant, a utility plant,” he said.

Oh, wait... it’s coming back to me now.

The UMW voted for ECONOMIC SUICIDE by supporting Obama. They even wil-catted for day to show support for Obama.

Did they think he was just kiding (wink, wink) when he said he wanted to DESTROY COAL?

Oh, wait... it’s coming back to me now.

That was four years and several thousand jobs ago. And the head UMWA goonions are gonna be hard-pressed to convince a man in PA, MD, WV, OH, or anywhere else which lever to pull behind the curtain when the EPA permit at their job site's been pulled by The Kenyan's lackeys, and they have a wife, kids, and a stack of bills that depended on that paycheck. Maybe it was fool me once in '08 when they followed their marching orders, but rest assured they won't make the same mistake again when they can barely afford to put a skillet of Hamburger Helper on the dinner table now. I was born and raised in coal country, and while those folks may carry a union card, an unemployment check is no substitute for the bacon they brought home after spending all day in a dim shaft in the ground.

"As democracy is perfected, the office represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. We move toward a lofty ideal. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their hearts desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron."

Coal miners in West Virginia and Tennessee saved this country from a Gore presidency; I don’t think they care who their union head endorses.

Not sure how many coal miners there are in this country but I would hope they (that’s none of them) are going to vote for Obama and his minions in the coming elections.

This administration has got to be stopped and deported.

I know a gentleman who works at one of the coal-fired plants down here in southeast Ohio, on the border with West Virginia. He tried his damnedest last time around to warn his co-workers about Obama, but they didn’t listen.

They’re listening now.

Interesting the One can’t be bothered to face the people he said he’d put out of business. The closest he’s gotten to us is Columbus, over two hours from our neck of the woods.
