Ron Paul Supporters Boo Romney Son Off Stage at Ariz. GOP Convention
The Blaze ^ | May 13, 2012 | Madeleine Morgenstern

Supporters of Texas Rep. Ron Paul booed one of Mitt Romney’s adult sons off the stage Saturday at the Arizona Republican Party convention as he tried to consolidate support for his father.

Josh Romney’s speech to state GOP members was cut short by jeers from Paul backers at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, the Arizona Republic reported.

The state’s convention was to elect delegates for the national convention in August, where the former Massachusetts governor is expected to wrap up the nomination to take on President Barack Obama.

“We cannot afford four more years of President Obama,” said Josh Romney, the third of Mitt Romney’s five sons. “We need someone to step in there and turn things around.”

But Josh had to stop repeatedly as people booed and yelled for Paul, who has continued campaigning in the Republican primary. All other challengers, including Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich, have dropped out of the race, and Romney has a commanding lead over Paul in the estimated delegate count.

But Paul supporters have begun flooding state conventions, recently winning control of delegate majorities in Nevada and Maine.

Josh Romney tried to pacify the crowd by taking a moment to recognize his father’s former rivals. It appeared to have little effect: Telling delegates to vote for his dad as he finished up, the crowd “exploded with competing boos and cheers, cutting him short.”

According to the Republic, some attendees said they heard Paul supporters chanting outside that Mitt Romney was “the white Obama.”

We usually have over 1.5 million people show up for a Presidential primary in Virginia. Romney got about 10% of that number.

His support is tissue paper thin around here ~ a handful of Bourbons at the top maybe, some old business buddies, mormons ~ ? ~, and otherwise he's not popular at all.

The number one problem is the debt. Military leaders have even said the debt is our number one national security problem. Ron Paul despite his other faults would attack the debt problem head-on if he lives up to his campaign promises. He would put actual cuts in the budget. Romney is an ECONOMIC LIBERAL even more than he is on every other issue. He is an out-and-out socialist. He will do nothing to help the debt crisis.

Last I checked, you’re allowed to boo a speech you don’t like just as much as you’re allowed to cheer it. The more booing directed at Romney and his supporters, the better. His nomination would be the worst move the Republican party has made in my lifetime.

The fool is the one who doesn’t recognize how dangerous a second Obama term would be. An Obama with nothing to lose is a nightmare.

FR threads are open for discussion by registered FR users. There were no outsiders infiltrating FR threads. There were, as it turned out, some Freepers who had jumped the reservation and thrown in their lot with Romney.

Neither Romney nor his FR Mittbots are popular ~ never will be either.

I was just asking why so many FReepers are afraid of Mormons as a whole. The ones I knew were great conservatives

We should never allow a Democrat campaign donor to run in Republican primaries for President.

And they expected Josh Romney to say, what, exactly? Don't vote for my dad? If they were surprised by that, they're certainly showing their ignorance. I don't think Romney supporters would be shocked if they saw Rand Paul give a speech telling people to vote for Ron Paul.

When has Cut and Run EVER done anything. He is a big talker, but can anyone name anything he has ever done but talk. Other than stuff as many earmarks into as many bills as possible. He is not called the EARMARK KING for nothing.

I didn't think so.

I don’t care who you vote for you simply inspired a new turn of phrase ~ Marxist Mormon Mittbot.

There were 19 states left when this race was called, all those people were DENIED a voice. They should all ignore the Romney campaign from now on since it has nothing but disdain for them.

The race wasn't "called." Romney is still short the 1,144 delegates by 200. Romney picked up 257 delegates since those 19 remaining states started voting. It's not the fault of anyone but the voters if they somehow conclude that Karl Rove telling them Romney's the inevitable nominee means they have to go into the polling booth and pull the lever for Romney despite they're being other choices on the ballot. Nothing was called, the voters still had the right to vote for someone else, and it's no one's fault but their own if they fail to exercise that right.

Absolutely. This whole “primary” has been nuts from start to finish. Actually, of course, I keep hoping against hope that it’s not over yet (but I’m afraid it is).

We should never allow a Democrat campaign donor to run in Republican primaries for President.

Nor should we let someone who blames every problem in the world on America, or wants to experiment with perverts in the military, or wants to allow prostitution, or who endorses OWS, or who endorses the likes of Cynthia McKinney. Now who do you think I am talking about? Cut and Run or Obama. You can't tell can you? The two of them have almost identical philosophies.

The 2012 election is a rerun of the 1964 election where we had Goldwater facing off against Johnson ~ a thoroughly corrupt and dislikeable Democrat.

Back in 1960 JFK had gotten 70% of the black vote ~ located mostly in Northern states. It was barely enough to get him elected ~ that was a very tight election against Nixon.

Johnson decided to hold the Democrat base and sliced off a small faction in the Republican party. This consisted of the 30% of black voters who'd voted Republican ~ Johnson gave them the 1964 Civil Rights Act and promised the 1965 Civil Rights Act. Johnson ended up with 97% of the black vote.

Johnson won. Goldwater lost. A number of Social Conservatives didn't vote at all having taken some of Goldwater's insults to them to heart.

Obama could win the same way if even more Social Conservatives don't vote ~

I think the youth vote remains to be won and that's not happening with small things like free condoms and gay marriage. That, so far, is a ploy, and the Democrats have gotten little traction with it.

On the other hand the Republicans could pull in the youth vote with something sound about JOBS. You have 53% of all recent college graduates UNEMPLOYED (Recent meaning last 5 years).

That's Greek levels of unemployment!

I think some have the idea that Mitt by himself is a satisfactory substitute for a programatic plan for job generation, but he comes across more like the personnel director who just turned all those people down for a real job.

Gingrich had ideas. Perry had ideas. Santorum had ideas. Romney has a hairdo.

Guys, I don't think this is going to work ~ Obama's free condoms won't work fur shur, but not offering anything at all won't work either.

If we are stuck with Romney at least get him an entire new team of advisors. So far this SUCKS.

Accusing others of wanting to get Obama elected is probably the most vile thing you can do. You aren't going to win people over like that.

America's best known Mormons are Romney and Hatch. Other slightly less known Mormons also support unlimited Mexican immigration.

I think there's what they call an endemic problem with the brand ~ they sound Conservative but they vote otherwise.

Willie Nelson??

I have seen him in movies and TV shows where pot is made fun of as if its good old fun. Never saw the film where it was about pain control. Its always about telling the kids watching about how much fun it is to be high.

Please shove those beams deeper in your eyes
