Ron Paul Supporters Boo Romney Son Off Stage at Ariz. GOP Convention
The Blaze ^ | May 13, 2012 | Madeleine Morgenstern

Supporters of Texas Rep. Ron Paul booed one of Mitt Romney’s adult sons off the stage Saturday at the Arizona Republican Party convention as he tried to consolidate support for his father.

Josh Romney’s speech to state GOP members was cut short by jeers from Paul backers at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, the Arizona Republic reported.

The state’s convention was to elect delegates for the national convention in August, where the former Massachusetts governor is expected to wrap up the nomination to take on President Barack Obama.

“We cannot afford four more years of President Obama,” said Josh Romney, the third of Mitt Romney’s five sons. “We need someone to step in there and turn things around.”

But Josh had to stop repeatedly as people booed and yelled for Paul, who has continued campaigning in the Republican primary. All other challengers, including Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich, have dropped out of the race, and Romney has a commanding lead over Paul in the estimated delegate count.

But Paul supporters have begun flooding state conventions, recently winning control of delegate majorities in Nevada and Maine.

Josh Romney tried to pacify the crowd by taking a moment to recognize his father’s former rivals. It appeared to have little effect: Telling delegates to vote for his dad as he finished up, the crowd “exploded with competing boos and cheers, cutting him short.”

According to the Republic, some attendees said they heard Paul supporters chanting outside that Mitt Romney was “the white Obama.”

Remember when in the debates the candidates (in two different debates) were asked to state what they liked or admired about one of the other candidates?

Ron Paul was the one who couldn’t think of anything. Now that’s a low-class act.

I'd probably be in mostly the same position. There's nothing I like about Romney.

Finley Peter Dunne said "politics ain't beanbag", and that means that it isn't for the squeamish nor for those with jelly in their spines.

If the Romney camp can't handle it from the Ron Paul insurgents now, how in Hell are they going to handle what the 0bamunists throw at them between the convention in Tampa and the general election in November?

Romney should pull out and save America.

Then let the majority of the primary voters who voted for him do what?

Oh, I got it, you want a "do over"!

Wow ~ the Mittbots sure ended primary campaign talk in Virginia fast enough, so that means ALL OF THEM ARE MARXISTS.

I think I'll just start referring to "Marxist Mormon Mittbots" ~ sounds quite alliterative.

This is really about saving our country. If Ron Paul’s people can help conservatives do that, then they are our brothers.

I would never talk bad about Paul ever again!

I didn’t see that with the Cain supporters, but as a Santorum supporter, Newt people showed up in every single thread to trash Santorum and even make comments about his supporters. They continued to do this even when Newt was splitting the votes and Santorum was the only candidate who had even a chance at stopping Romney.

The theatre between these two is on the side of Romney,
of course, hands down.

The actual record between these two is on the side of Paul, in spades, hands down.

So, which matters? The theatre, or the record?

You miss the point. Let me give you another example to help you out.

USPS has an employee merit evaluation for non-bargaining unit management and staff folks every year. A percentage of your pay will depend on how you have performed (or kissed butt) in the previous year, and whether or not the boss' boss likes you.

So, it's really important.

There's a self evaluation block. You can check off OUTSTANDNG, SUPERIOR, AVERAGE, BELOW AVERAGE, POOR ~ that's what YOU AS an employee can check off to provide a summary categorization of your performance.

IF you check Average, and your boss thinks you were Outstanding, the management rule is that you cannot get a higher evaluation than the one you picked for yourself.

When this system was first imposed lots of folks thought you could curry favor with the boss by selecting Superior rather than Outstanding. Boy were they fooled.

I never checked anything less than OUTSTANDING. This paid off big time during a two year period when I ended up without a BOSS in the chain of command, so E&LR (personnel) processed my annual merit evaluation with only my own Superior rating!

Paul, as a candidate, is certainly allowed to rate himself Superior and the others as Poor. Why would it be any other way than that?

Here is my question.....just exactly who would serve in a Paul Cabinet?

Facts and history are not that appreciated, even on our side.

We have folks, out of fear and desperation, cooperating with a socialist on a Republican ticket.

Did ya’ ever think you’d see the day? I thought this could only happen in Germany at train stations.

RP should never have been allowed to run on the GOP ticket, because he’s a libertarian. However, that said, the reason he’s done as well as he has is because he actually has ideas (and some of them overlap with conservative ideas).

The only other one who had ideas was Newt Gingrich, but people like Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter turned him into a laughing stock as soon as they could, because he represented a genuine threat to the GOP-e, while RP was obviously a flake candidate.

Also, I think if RP hadn’t run, many of his young supporters would have gone to Gingrich (possibly first to Perry, but Perry unfortunately was never able to fight back well enough when the attacks started). So in many ways, the person we have to thank for this miserable situation, in addtion to the GOP honchos who annointed Romney or were bought by him right out of the gate, is Ron Paul, who confused and diluted the Tea Party vote.

That said, if he can derail Romney, which I still think is possible, we will owe him a great debt of gratitude. Romney stinks almost as badly as Obama, and the “almost” is not enough to make me vote for Romney. I’ll vote down the ticket but not for Romney.

If we can get some good Senators in there who will halt the rubber stamping of Obama’s programs and actually fight for the separation of powers, that might be the best we can do, and it might really make a difference.

“obnoxious”

Yeah. So much for respecting 1st amendment rights. Isn’t funny how those who preach ‘tolerance’ are the most intolerant bunch?

Like when Obama preached ‘civility’ one week and viciously attacked Republicans the next? Oh wait, that’s happened every week of his Presidency.

Both the Obama and Paul campaigns are making me feel sympathetic toward Romney. Didn’t expect that to happen.

Santorum had no chance, because his ideas were exactly the same as Romney’s but he had the “social conservative” twist. He offered no option except to people who were doing the God vote - the same people who voted for Jimmy Carter, btw - and that’s why he withdrew, because he knew that wasn’t going to be enough to carry him.

Also, I do think he’s going to be Romney’s VP candidate. People are telling Romney to pick Christie or Portman, but he needs the Evangelical vote, and the only way he can get that is by picking Santorum.

The primary is not over. A lot of us are still denied a primary vote. Romney does not represent the vast majority of Republicans and none of us conservatives.

In that way I can understand how they feel, but this is very bad form on their parts.

There are MANY ways to “Deal” with the fact that Romney is the “presumptive” nominee...

One of them is finding a way to throw the convention into chaos in such a way that it results in a brokered convention.

The other way of “dealing with it” is to actively work to make sure a republican socialist never see the inside of the WH as president.

Then let the majority of the primary voters who voted for him do what?

In how many states did Romney actually get a majority?

There were 19 states left when this race was called, all those people were DENIED a voice. They should all ignore the Romney campaign from now on since it has nothing but disdain for them.

I am so freaking glad I don't have to pretend to like a liberal Republican.

Sadly, I simply can’t pull that lever for Romney. I will be voting for Ron Paul instead—who has zero chance of winning. What we must do is try to put true conservatives in the House and Senate, hopefully to give whichever guy is the next president far less power

I think I understand because I felt the same way once.

I voted for Perot, and elected Clinton, to my eternal damnation.

Right now the battle is against Ultimate Evil, or Whacky Evil. If we do not stop the present totalitarian, nothing will matter in the future. There will be none.
