It would be easy to give in and start using red and blue as (backward) adjectives but I’m not gonna do it.
The other day, I talked with a former college professor via email and she said something along the lines of "someday you'll come around to a blue state mentality" and I answered "I already am, I'm a true blue conservative, which is the color used to identify conservatives in every country but the U.S.".
One the flip side, a person on the right side of the spectrum posted some banner he created for the 2012 election with red elephant and the caption "RED REVOLUTION 2012", and I told him "I don't like it. We already had a "red" revolution in 2008 when the Democrats took over and put Obama's communist health care plan in place. I want to undo "red" policies"
Too many conservatives let the mainstream media control the language of political discourse. At this state, conservatives will start referring to themselves as "anti-woman's choice" and refer to illegal aliens as "undocumented guest workers". I've noticed lately that conservatives increasingly refer to liberals as their preferred term for themselves, "progressives". I'm not sure if this is to purposely tarnish the term, or because they've bought the MSM-approved terminology again. It certainly can't be because liberals are for progress.
