Shades of red in North Carolina
The Hill ^ | May 11, 2012 | Emily Goodin

Mitt Romney made a hastily arranged trip to Charlotte, N.C., on Friday, and not just because that city is the site of the Democratic National Convention.

It's because North Carolina looks to be leaning red.

President Obama won the state four years ago but his decision to publicly endorse same-sex marriage this week could cost him the Tar Heel state, especially as his announcement came the day after the state rejected an amendment legalizing gay marriage.

The Republican National Committee circulated a memo on the state, arguing that the retirement of high-profile Democratic lawmakers in the North Carolina, a sexual harassment scandal dogging the state Democratic Party leadership and the campaign finance corruption trial of former presidential candidate John Edwards means that "the Tar Heel State is a major headache for Chicago."

Obama was never going to win NC this time around and he damn well knew it before, during and after his evolution.

I still can’t understand how it went for obama in 2008. Is there some sort of invasion of yankees, ala south Florida?

What did I read today? They have 200,000 illegal aliens registered to vote in Florida? Add to that the zombie vote and the altzheimer patients, and those in nursing homes that the dems vote for and it will be hard for Romney to carry Florida even if all the pissed off and pissed on Conservatives suck it up and vote for him.

The networks and every one else used BLUE for Republicans and RED for the democrats, look up an old election night map for 1984 and 1980. Apparently there were too many comments about RED being the appropiate color for the democrats. They could have at least let the Republicans keep BLUE and changed the democrats to GREEN or PINK.

Lots of illegals, record-breaaking black turnout, plus the unpopularity of GWB and Elizabeth Dole.

They used to alternate every election till 2004 when the press deliberately saddled GOP with red permanently

Propaganda

Exactly. Although I know they were doing that and commenting on it on election night 2000; I don't remember what the scheme was in 1996 (Clinton/Dole).

The color red was getting too close to the truth.

Plus, they probably focus-grouped some advantages for the Dims out of having "blue". They'd do that, to help their little 'Rat-faced Communist buddies.

Exactly. The color red is associated with every radical-leftist totalitarian ideology on Earth. The Soviet Union, Nazi Germany, China, etc.

Well, the Blacks will vote for Obama. All of them. And the white college profs and yankee techno transplants around the Research Triangle. And NC youngsters are no less influenced by the facile liberalism of the popular culture—late nite TV, the sitcoms, music, the movies—than are young people elsewhere. So, while Obama has damaged the economy, declared war on religious liberty and endorsed the degradation of the culture that is same sex “marriage,” there is still a residue of support for him. And Obama’s allies in the media have just begun their fight (WP article on Romney in high school)to destroy Obama’s opponent. Let us not be too confident. Evil is attractive to many.

The last POTUS election NC was less Republican than the country at large was 1980.

It would be easy to give in and start using red and blue as (backward) adjectives but I’m not gonna do it.

Yep, whenever anyone has a political conversation with me and uses the MSM designated colors, I won't play ball with them whether they're conservative or liberal.

The other day, I talked with a former college professor via email and she said something along the lines of "someday you'll come around to a blue state mentality" and I answered "I already am, I'm a true blue conservative, which is the color used to identify conservatives in every country but the U.S.".

One the flip side, a person on the right side of the spectrum posted some banner he created for the 2012 election with red elephant and the caption "RED REVOLUTION 2012", and I told him "I don't like it. We already had a "red" revolution in 2008 when the Democrats took over and put Obama's communist health care plan in place. I want to undo "red" policies"

Too many conservatives let the mainstream media control the language of political discourse. At this state, conservatives will start referring to themselves as "anti-woman's choice" and refer to illegal aliens as "undocumented guest workers". I've noticed lately that conservatives increasingly refer to liberals as their preferred term for themselves, "progressives". I'm not sure if this is to purposely tarnish the term, or because they've bought the MSM-approved terminology again. It certainly can't be because liberals are for progress.

High Black turnout was the #1 factor.

There are so many useless idiots on our side using the media assigned colors (passing out bracelets that say "think Red" in Illinois and silly stunts like that), that conservatives have a duty to avoid the GOP = RED propaganda by using images with the CORRECT colors whenever possible in public:
