The mother of slain Florida teenager Trayvon Martin will be able to take about eight months of paid leave from her county job, thanks to the generosity of county employees.
Sybrina Fulton, who has worked at the Miami-Dade County housing authority for 23 years, collected $40,825 worth of donated vacation time, county records show. The paid time off is in addition to the nearly $100,000 the family raised on wepay.com and at rallies, which will be used to launch a criminal justice advocacy foundation in Trayvon's name.
The donated days are the latest in a mounting fortune in contributions that have amassed on both sides of the controversial case. With websites dedicated to the grieving parents of Trayvon Martin as well as for the man who killed him, and now even his attorney, funds gathered in the wake of the Feb. 26 tragedy promise to reach half a million dollars. Donors continue to reach into their pockets, even as each side criticizes the other's purpose and intent in seeking donations.
"They are using the money to continue the legacy of their son," said Michael Hall, a graphic designer and marketing specialist who helped launch the Justice for Trayvon Martin Foundation. The parents created the non-profit in March in response to their son's killing. "They didn't want a situation where people could say they were profiting off the loss of their son."(continued)

They're spending it on "gold teef"?
I think the “kid” didn’t have much of a legacy to celebrate—at least not from what I have read....
To continue the legacy of Skittles? The punk turd was a thug. That’s his legacy.
And he shall be Trayvon
And he shall be a hood man
And he shall be Trayvon
In tradition with the family
And he shall be Trayvon
And he shall be a hood man
He shall be Traaaay-vooooon...
When will the IRS be called in on these folks? All the money collected will be taxed.
I would be interested in Trayvon’s mother’s work record before this incident. How many sick days she took. Any long term absences. It should be a FOIA type of thing. And I’d really be interested in the father’s work record.
They gonna open a gang banga training institute?
Following the money.
“He shall be Traaaay-gooooone...”
Sorry, but just had to.
Don’t end with the work record. Check all information. DUIs, divorce papters etc etc etc Give em a full “joetheplumber” treatment.
County employees may have donated some of "their" paid leave to little Trayvon's mommy, but the money will still come out of the county treasury.

The Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman aftermath is a pivotal battle between the people who believe that violent crime is a legitimate career path for Eric Holder’s people and that armed victims are an OSHA violation, and those people who would dare to disagree.
How does this woman qualify for donated sick time? I thought one had to be severely ill in order to be eligible for a sick leave donation program. At least that’s the way it was for NY State workers.
I missed the part where she received vacation time, but that wasn’t allowed for NY State workers either. You could only donate sick time, and it was only for a person who was extremely ill. I wonder how many other people working for the county have been given this opportunity when they’ve lost a loved one? I can’t imagine how much this is costing the taxpayers if they do it for everyone.

I realized after my post that she had received vacation time, and not sick time, which makes it even worse. Do they let any county worker get free vacation time when someone has died? Seems like a slippery slope that could get out of hand, and probably already has.
And lead a life of luxury if her pimp-daddy attorny Crump can get a decision in a wrongful death trial........
Mayor of Miami-Dade County allowed County employees to donate vacation time to Ms. Fulton. But get this .in an unusual move, the Mayor gave his blessing to allow the donated time to be converted to the money equivalent, up to $50,000.

He styles himself as the champion of fiscal responsibility.
If Mr. Zimmerman’s attorney invokes the “Stand Your Ground” law in this case, no re-trial or civil lawsuit is allowed by statute. See why they don’t like it?
I think we call that STEALING!!!!
You can't tell by looking but Mayor Gimenez isn't a white hispanic. He's a red hispanic.
Thanks for that info. How does a Mayor circumvent established civil service laws, and allow one person special treatment? I hope this moron realizes the problem he’s created. You don’t do for one, what you can’t, or won’t do for all.
That law only applies if no charges are brought. Zimmerman has been booked and charged which is exactly what the family and their attorney Crump were hoping for.
They could care less that Zimmerman will ultimately be found innocent of the charges against him, they now have legal ground to pursue him in civil court........
The whole media circus created by Crump and the Justice Brothers was designed to put the necessary pressure on the prosecuting attorney's office to bring charges which from the beginning were not warranted and successfully allow them to pursue a legal lottery payday.......

"Civil rights activist Al Sharpton presents the cash haul offering from a rally with Trayvon Martins parents at a church in Los Angeles. The rally was attended by Rick Ross, Councilman Bernard C. Parks, Big Boy, Jesse Jackson, Mary Mary, Oscar Grants family, Tony Cornelius, Benjamin Crump, Sybrina Fulton, Tracy Martin, Jahvaris Martin, Dawn Haynes, and Minister Omarosa O. Manigault. "

They are now part of the Chindy Sheehan/Mother Against Drunk Driving/ grief industry complex. So often family members of deceased go out on a crusade to ban whatever killed their family member, in order to make themselves feel like their death had some purpose. What they end up doing is eventually intruding on the rights of others.
Re-read it. As I understand it, if he is exonerated based on SYG, no more trials of ANY kind based on this incident can occur. PERIOD.
I guess, like 0baMao, he just assumes the authority to be a little commissar. But he sure did throw open the barn door.
My company offers bereavement, specified number of days off given the relationship (week for spouse and kids, 3 days parent, 1 day grandparents, uncle, etc).
What is a legitimate website for donating to Mr. Zimmerman’s defense?
After viewing It’s a Wonderful Life, President Harry S Truman concluded, “If Bess and I had a son we’d want him to be just like Jimmy Stewart.”
We had bereavement leave too for immediate family members only. Aunts, uncles, or cousins weren’t included, and you had to provide a copy of the obit for it to be approved.
It could be any one of us in George Zimmerman's shoes.
She is your typical Gubmint worker.
The kind of Gubmint worker who will soon be hired to run Obamacare and ration your health care.
"Social justice" is a liberal contrivance that makes "victim" a job description.
You are dead on.
They consider him a martyr and will milk that puppy until the end of time.
No doubt both parents will achieve that deep and silent respect that Tawana Brawley probably receives when she enters the room and will be guest speakers and hailed heroes wherever they go.
The black community puzzles me- in their eyes, OJ is still a hero, Jesse Jackass and Ass Sharpton are looked at with respect and this Trayvon thug is considered a martyr.
Why are they carrying a trash can? And why is she dressed up like Hong Kong Fooey?
They picked up a collection in the church they were speaking at, and the always classy Rev Al put the proceeds in a trash can to give to them.
” How does a Mayor circumvent established civil service laws, and allow one person special treatment?”
Hey, this is MIAMI! Chicago in da tropics, pal...capisce?/s;)
Oh, Trayvon’s mom works for the county. What a surprise.
