Romney backs away from gay adoptions [Friday night, after endorsing Thursday]
CBS news ^ | May 11, 2012 | Matthew Shelley

(CBS News) Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney on Friday backed away from his support of adoptions by same-sex couples, saying that he simply "acknowledges" the legality of such adoptions in many states.

A day earlier, Romney, in an interview with Fox News' Neil Cavuto, had indicated that while he does not support same-sex marriage, he considers the adoption of children by same-sex couples a "right."

He said on Thursday: "And if two people of the same gender want to live together, want to have a loving relationship, or even to adopt a child -- in my state individuals of the same sex were able to adopt children. In my view, that's something that people have a right to do. But to call that marriage is something that in my view is a departure from the real meaning of that word."

But then on Friday, he was asked, in an interview with CBS' WBTV in Charlotte, N.C., how his opposition to same-sex marriage "squared" with his support for gay adoptions. Romney told anchor Paul Cameron, "Well actually I think all states but one allow gay adoption, so that's a position which has been decided by most of the state legislators, including the one in my state some time ago. So I simply acknowledge the fact that gay adoption is legal in all states but one."

About 2/3 of the judges appointed by Romney in MA were liberals, many were Dem judges. Don’t count on a liberal like Romney appointing conservative Constitutionalists to SCOTUS. No way.

I want NEITHER OF THEM!

A REVOLUTION AT THE CONVENTION!!!

Do you really want Obama to still be in there nominating feminazis, muslims and marxists?

So basically its no different than what Romney nominated as governor.

Romney if elected can and will be taken to task by conservatives to make sure he nominates conservative judges.

P.T. Barnum was right.

There is a sucker born every minute.

I'm going to invest in Ringling Brothers.

...on the other hand, there is the Supreme Court... Could very well be three new judges in the next term. Do you really want Obama to still be in there nominating feminazis, muslims and marxists?

I do agree that there will be 3 appointments. I think Scalia is good for another 8 yrs (til 80) and you KNOW he will hold out. Ginsberg may retire, but who else do you think might? Any nominees still have to be confirmed, and I would expect the next senate to be MUCH less accomodating to Obamao, not sure about Willard though. I think its a wash for the next 4 years for nominees with Obamao already having spent his lib pick tolerances, and the [R]'s might let Willard get away with a Miers-like pick. Bottom line IMO is that SCOTUS appointments will not be a factor in the next 4 years, but will be HUGE in the 2016 election - that's why its absolutely essential we have a Conservative in the WH (and a majority in Senate) in 2017.

Opinions are like a$$holes, everyone has one. You are entitled to your’s just as I am mine. As long we don’t attack one another personally, I am fine with people defending their views. That is what FR is all about. We are all conservatives and want what is best for our country.

Santorum endorses one-time rival Romney
Associated Press ^ | May 7, 2012

There is very little difference between Romney and Obama’s actual records. Both supported abortion, gay rights, gun control, liberal judges, global warming, compulsory health insurance, individual mandates, government control over the economy, etc, in other words liberal progressive policies. And they both loathed Reagan, conservatism and the tea party.

Romney now swears he’s a Reagan conservative. He also claims that his brand of government controlled, government forced, mandated compulsory health insurance is a “free-market conservative solution.” He also still says that even if president, he would do nothing about gays in the military. You can bet that means he will do nothing to thwart the advancing gay agenda. He also still says today that man-made global warming is real and that government will eventually have to do something about it. There goes our free-economy. He also says that TARP, the bailouts, the stimulus spending, etc, were all good ideas and that more may be necessary. So he truly does believe that government control of the economy, picking winners and losers, etc, is a good thing. Crony capitalism. He never even mentions the constitution which doesn’t give the federal government the authority to do any of the above. Wonder why.

No Reaganite here, so guess that’s just another lie too.

And they now call me a troll too for simply stating the truth.

Sorry, I stand corrected: Romney truly is no better than Obama. They both lie effortlessly, but may need the assistance of teleprompters.

I sure as hell don’t want four more years of Obama and will crawl over broken glass to vote for Romney or anyone else that is nominated by the GOP. Bachmann and then Santorum were my choices, but I will not cut off my nose to spite my face. Bachmann and Santorum have endorsed Romney. They deal in reality and so do I.

If Romney is the GOP nominee, and there is every indication he will be, I will enthusiastically vote for him against Obama. Why are some of you wasting your time tearing him up????? The LMS will do it for you.Use your power to make sure that UN Sea Treaty is defeated— and destroyed. Your country is more important that defeating Romney.

You are not dealing in reality if you believe the GOP will nominate someone who didn’t go through the primary process. Are you suggesting some sort of voter nullification where the primary results are discounted by rogue delegates?

listen Romney disgusts me as much as anyone..

but if someone gay, straight, single or otherwise wants to help a homeless orphan out by offering them a place in their home... I sure wont stand in their way.

Now should there be some sort of priority given to a married couple? (the best possible placement choice) sure. But once a kid has been passed over time and again by all the married couples... I see no problem with opening up their adoption to singles, gays, or whoever wants to give them a home. Especially if the child is old enough to agree to such a placement.

He’s a flip-flopper, but he’s OUR flip-flopper.

Hope he gets Obie out of the WH and then we can work from the ground up.

Cruz is a good start in Texas. And there’s Ryan . . .

The game is rigged. Watch the video, delegate may indeed actually be free to vote for anyone they want.

The system that forces excrement down our throats is broken. GOP elite establishment RINOs/liberals are ruining our country.

Then you haven't been paying attention.

I have...I do believe more than 85%, here at FR, will vote for the despicable mittens if he is the Repube candidate...

unless he gets the bums rush at the convention..which would please me to no end.

but if he does not get the boot....
I will place my springy clothes pin on my nose and pull the lever for the Republicrat....

better (just...but better) than the Marxist/Fascist candidate the Dhimmis have shoved upon America.
