With the government STEALING our retirement funds, and our healthcare, why shouldn't the boomers STEAL the jobs? A lot of the "young" people don't really want a job, at least not one that involves work of any kind.

Employers want dependable people with a good work ethic, if the boomers fill that need better than the "young", then so be it.

Besides, you'd have to define (which) "young".

Maybe the boomers are actually out looking for jobs (in order to eat) instead of living in their parents home and playing video games all day.

I can say that at my hospital, the older nurses are the best to work with, the ones with the most team spirit, the ones you can count on....we can work the younger people under the table...

we recently have hired a bunch of new grads and they are great....they've had to accept evening or night shift, part time hours, etc...but they're willing...

looking for a job, look to work your way up...the first years are not glorious....

I think Americans watch too much tv...all these young people on sitcoms not working, having their big, so they say, sex lives and dating scenes, the latest fashions, and cell phones...

that is NOT life.....

A lot of the “young” people don’t really want a job, at least not one that involves work of any kind....I retired in 2010 and trained the college grad they hired to take over my job. In late 2011 they asked me to come in for lunch. I was asked to take over my old job again. I sort of argued with them and asked what about Andy? He took every sick day as it came due, borrowed two weeks of vacation and took off an unpaid two week vacation. I relented and went back to work “temporarily”. There were no filings made of monthly forms, reports didn’t report and monthly inspections hadn’t been accomplished. When I went on SS, I asked to be cut back to $14160.00 a year. We are negotiating a paid consultant job right now and I don’t want it.
