Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney (R) said Thursday that he believes gay couples should be allowed to adopt children, even as he reiterated his view that marriage is defined as a relationship between a man and a woman.
In an interview with Neil Cavuto of Fox Business Network, Romney was asked whether he believes the gay marriage debate is a new civil rights movement, as some Democrats have framed the issue.
“I don’t see it in that light,” Romney responded. “I believe my record as a person who has supported civil rights is strong and powerful. At the same time, I believe that marriage has been defined the same way for literally thousands of years by virtually every civilization in history and that marriage is by its definition a relationship between a man and woman.”
He added that “if two people of the same gender want to live together, want to have a loving relationship, even want to adopt a child — in my state, individuals of the same sex are able to adopt children. In my view, that’s something which people have the right to do, but to call that marriage is, in my view, a departure from the real meaning of the word.”

Saying that gays have a "right" to adopt puts them in the same line with heterosexual couples for a very small number of eligible infants and young children. A pregnant woman who has no control over where her child is placed might well reject the possibility of adoption--and perhaps even choose abortion instead.

Simply put, the greater the demand for those who want to adopt = decreased demand for those who are killed.

You are right. Also adoption by any loving couple is better than an orphanage or the foster care system in most states.

When the process start, I looked at choices like Palin, Cain, and Bachmann, and thought this was going to be a great year.
Then, Palin didn't run, Cain either couldn't control himself or chose not to stand up against false allegations, and Bachmann gaffed herself out of contention. Now, look at what our choices are.

A large % of people that choose to be gay comes from environmental rather than genetics. Another way the gay population wants to increase their numbers. How sad for the children.

What about the lesbian couple (Tyler) whose little four year old boy—because of his lack of a loving father figure—tried to cut off his penis and now is on toxic drugs to prevent him from maturing normally. They taught him to hate himself because they denied him his Natural Father. It is Evil. These people are sick. Homosexuality needs to be put back on the list of mental illness. It is an immature—inability to connect with one-half of the world.
Does he understand that he is making children into buyable objects-—that children have a Natural Right to be raised by their biological parents. Government laws should force the general welfare for all people, but especially for vulnerable children who will be forced into an artificial reality which is immoral. Sodomy is an evil act and if Romney doesn’t realize that then he is immoral. It is from Moral Law from the Laws of Nature—the basis of our legal system.

Mitt Romney is the gay marriage pioneer. Massachusetts was the first state to mandate it, and it was entirely Romney’s doing.
I don’t think there’s a pin’s worth of difference between Obama and Romney on this issue.
And I can’t help wondering if Romney isn’t gay himself. He sure looks it. But if so, he needs to hide it because of his eminent position in the LDS church. Obama was openly gay, but as with Hillary, the press is willing to cover for him.

Four years ago, never in my wildest imagination, could I imagine the GOP would be serving up a candidate even worse than McCain. McCain was beyond wretched (not to mention a total psycho), but at least he had a few issues/traits I could, in desperation, hang my hat on. Not to mention the best veep pick in my entire lifetime.
With Romney...? There’s just no end to his rancidness. It would be like going into a voting booth and voting for Hillary Clinton. I’ve never remotely sunk so low in my life, to resort to that kind of soul-selling. Yet this is what the GOP expects of me? They are damned crazy.
The wait for newborns in the adoption is 6-10 years, depending on the state. The cost is around $20K. The demand side of the equation isn’t the problem.

I was in a foster parenting class a few years back that had a couple {two women I'll call Butch and Dike} in the class. They bragged how their foster kids had lots of chores to do for them and at the end of the month they got a dollar.
Kids should not be force into gay social engineering experiments. Kids up for adoption or in foster care have been traumatized quite enough already. Romney seriously needs to pull his head out of his orifice on this issue.

I tried to convince myself that I would be voting for good Supreme Court appointments, but now I think Romney wouldn’t appoint anybody who didn’t think the right for homosexuals to marry, or gay couples to destroy the lives of children they adopt is a constitutional right.
This guy may eventually beat Obama but it’s apparent that he’ll do everything in his ability to prevent that. What a freakin’ idiot!
