Giant dinosaurs could have warmed the planet with their flatulence, say researchers.
British scientists have calculated the methane output of sauropods, including the species known as Brontosaurus.
By scaling up the digestive wind of cows, they estimate that the population of dinosaurs - as a whole - produced 520 million tonnes of gas annually.
They suggest the gas could have been a key factor in the warm climate 150 million years ago.
David Wilkinson from Liverpool John Moore's University, and colleagues from the University of London and the University of Glasgow published their results in the journal Current Biology.

What is next? Obama will ban the sale of beans.
If dinosaur farts warmed the planet then why did global cooling kill them off?
What came first, dinosaur farts or the warm climate that spawned the stuff the dinosaurs ate to produce the gas?
Polar bear farts cooled the planet.
These warmist idiot anti-scientists just can’t let go of their global warming idiocy. What’s next? Maybe the dinosaur drove low-milage SUVs?
Sort of like politicians with their speeches.
Notice the insidious “assumption of the consequent”.
They are trying to further the “global warming by greenhouse gas emission” meme, and it is just assumed as the basis of this study.
And just maybe we had a lot more volcanoes go off at one point....which would produce global cooling.....which MUST be followed by global warming.
It was not T Rex.
By their own logic it was Vegan dinosaurs.
Right, because the dead plant material wouldn’t have decomposed by itself without dinosaurs. /s
Actually, it was herbivore dinosaur farts that warmed the planet. Don’t blame T-Rex and other carnivores, though they undoubtedly passed gas.
The same people, I will NOT call them scientists, who gave us man made global warming are now trying to explain previous periods of global warming that have occured both before and after the rise of man.
Every time they come up with one of these more imaginative scenarios that “could have” I think we need to ask: “w\Well, did it or didn't it?” Then watch them scurry for the shadows and more government grants to develop followup scenarios.
BTW - that quest “Well, did it or didn't it?” isn't new. Before it collapsed the theory of man made global warming it was the center piece of the scientific theory. Too bad it fell out of favor in the 1960s.
Fits in with all of the definitive AGW science. /S
