Leon Panetta was once an upstanding guy, a Republican congressional rep from the Monterey Peninsula in California.

At some point he was corrupted by the beltway culture. He switched his party affiliation to democrat and his statesman like qualities started to degenerate into the perverse valueless politically motivated personality disorder of party hack.

His big step over line, like a recreational cocaine user trying crack of heroin for the first time, was when he gave up elected office ambitions to become a shill for the Clintons. He was rewarded for his loyalty with a phonied up job or appointment as the co director of a liberal think tank called the Monterey Institute for Public Policy where he has all expenses paid and draws $1,000 a day from the taxpayers of America.
