Marco Rubio on FOX News Sunday - Grand Slam!!! (Vanity)
May 6, 2012 | no dems

Posted on 05/06/2012 4:09:01 PM PDT by Homers-odd-I-see

I've been torn between Senator Rob Portman of Ohio and Senator Marco Rubio of Florida for the GOP Vice Presidential spot. Marco Rubio was on "FOX News Sunday With Chris Wallace" today. OMG, the dude was AWESOME!!! He did not miss a step; sharp, sensible, intelligent answers to every question. I was amazed at how smart this guy is. Don't know for sure, but, you might be able to see the interview on FOX News.com

Yep, Marco Rubio is my guy for VP.

Good, because I think Portman would be an awful pick.

I hope he’s not picked unless he backs off of his DREAM Act amnesty for illegal aliens.

It is not Amnesty. I wish you could have seen the interview and heard his answer to that very question: Is it “Amnesty?”
I say again, it is NOT Amnesty.

Try Sarah Palin, already vetted and draws crowds, unlike romney. Do you really think peeps will let rubio or jindal slide from the natural born issue.

My problem is not with Portman per se, but with how poor of a VP pick he would be.

It would be the Rove (and probably Romney) conventional inside the beltway thinking that you must pick someone from a swing state. Portman would not “deliver” Ohio necessarily and he would bore the ever living hell out of the rest of the country. It’s the thought process behind a potential Portman pick that irritates me, not the man himself.

Some of the knee jerk immigration hawks think anything not including execution is amnesty, and you can’t open, let alone change, any of their minds.

Probably Portman.

Wait until the birthers come here.

Nice that a supposed FReeper uses a term of derision invented and employed by Team Obama!

Would it be okay with you, Mr. Kevin Davis, if we just asked Rubio to produce a certified birth certificate to the various Secretaries of State and let them decide whether they think under their understanding of the law he is eligible? It might also be nice if Rubio would allow the ordinary unwashed who is willing to pay the required fee to obtain their own certified copy of his birth certificate.

He really smacked it. Unless he’s got some pretty embarrassing skeletons in his closet, I think Romney’s going to nominate him. He would make either Biden or Clinton look ridiculous in a debate.

IMHO the US lost all semblance on a society based on the rule of law. Without the birth certificate angle, US courts have already ignored the natural born definition of both parents must be US citizens when Obama eligibility is challenged. Most courts rule that since Obama was born in US he is eligible. Well even if birthers can raise this issue in court on Rubio, can the courts suddenly rule Rubio is unqualified after ruling Obama is qualified? Talk about civil war, NBC required for GOP candidates but none for Dem candidates????

I saw the interview. He WAS awesome. His immigration plan for children of illegals was something I could stomach if it meant winning the Hispanic vote. Hard to tell at this point if that would be the case though.

The Supreme Court will rule one way or the other. I predict they will rule that his is natural born, but irrespective, it’s an argument for the Supreme Court to decide, and it really doesn’t matter what any of us think.

I don’t think so. Romney is trailing now, and I suspect that Obama is going to go bold by nominating Hillary. Portman is not going to stand up to Hillary. Rubio will run circles around Hillary in a debate. And a women v. Hispanic would make an interesting match up, and expose some currently unseen fault lines.

I would not be surprised if the Dems refuse to debate Rubio.

“Watch the interview and then tell me what you don’t like about his immigration plan, otherwise don’t respond to me.”

I’ll respond to you instead.

ANY “immigration plan” — no matter WHAT it purports to be on the surface — is little more than “amnesty disguised”. And we should run in the opposite direction. Even if “it’s for the children”. Then you run faster.

Call me xenophobic if you wish. Do you live next to a “hotel” filled with illegals? I do. I was just out in my backyard cleaning up the garbage that ends up there from their place this morning.

No to amnesty.
And no to Rubio. He’s not “Constitutionally qualified”, anyway. And if you don’t think the left and the media is going to make a barnfull of hay from this issue, you’d better start thinking again!

It would be a disaster for him to be picked, both because of that issue. In addition, and I realize that not everyone cares about this issue (but I do!), apparently he is not “natural born” because his parents were not American citizens at the time of his birth.

I wouldn’t vote for Romney if he were the only candidate. If he is the nominee the GOP can go to hell AFAIC, and it would have.

It won’t matter who is the Veep candidate, how many VP’s make policy?

Romney has made it clear he has nothing but loathing for conservatives

As much as I like Rubio, his bio reports that while he was born in the US, his parents were not naturalized until after his birth.

Question to Rubio supporters: why push Rubio for Veep even though he is not “natural born”?
