I am so grateful that when my son graduated from USF, he got a job in Tallahassee - no such nonsense up there in Redneck country (that’s a compliment, not a slam).

Another stupid screed from the minor league propagandist Sue Carlton.

Talk about doing something completely useless for a living.

I wonder if anyone has made a similar request for Charlotte (hosting the dhimmicrats circus sideshow)?

Occupy Tampa, the SEIU, and company do NOT want to face 50,000 armed Republicans.

People who try to demonize the NRA seem to forget that the NRA is not a stand alone monster. It is a large group of voting citizens with common interest. Demonizing the NRA is demonizing millions of voting citizens.

“The mayor’s letter to the governor was all prudence and sensibility, a reasonable request for a temporary ban on guns at a potentially combustible, extremely crowded, very political event.”

All politics aside, it’s rather asinine to “ban” guns when the bad outcomes are almost certainly going to originate with those who could care less about a “ban”.

It’s better to have some guns around in the hands of responsible people!

The democratic mayor wants to ban guns carried by people with concealed carry permits. All other guns are already banned.

But Florida law does not allow them to make up their own laws if they conflict with state law.

Like all democrats, the mayor and his liberal supporters think laws are for others. If they personally disagree with a law it shouldn’t apply to them.

Had the mayor even heard of the Second Amendment? the letter all but said. And yes, actually, since Buckhorn is a gun owner who has had a concealed-weapons permit himself.

Hizzoner seems to think the Second Amendment means "guns for me but not for thee". Or else this columnist does.

I'd be fatally embarrassed to display such ignorance in public. Ignorance by itself is not that shameful, but collecting a paycheck for it definitely is.

The potential for saving lives being the point.
Setting up potential victims seems to be the point.

They ought to require a three-day waiting period and a government permit before Sue Carlton is allowed to exercise her first amendment rights. It’s just a common sense measure to keep her from spewing foolish nonsense that can endanger the community.

Actually, for the protection of the children, the government ought to go even further and prevent her from writing or speaking anywhere at all in public. Her brand of stupidity is a danger to herself and to others who might be threatened by it.

Oh, yes, just in case anyone is wondering, I’m a strong supporter of the first amendment, just like that mayor is a champion of a strong 2nd amendment. That’s why I am advocating stripping people like Sue Carlton of those rights.

If they want to ensure safety, they should concentrate on keeping guns out of the hands of the Leftists, and paving the way for us "Right Wingers" to carry more freely. How many "Right Wingers" go ballistic and shoot people because they disagree with them vs. the Lefties who go nuts and commit violence on innocents at the drop of the hat?

Us Right Wingers need protection against all them "peace-loving" Lefties.
