Frank discussion re our loss to Obama/Romney and the future direction of FR and tea party movement

My FRiends, we might as well face the reality that we the combined pro-life conservative movement and tea party coalition have lost this round (the presidential election) in the larger battle to reclaim our constitution and our inalienable rights. Rove, Romney and the GOP-e have successfully destroyed and driven off each and every pro-life conservative tea party candidate from the race and all have surrendered to the Romney camp. It is no secret that Romney is not one of us. There is absolutely no doubt that he has never accomplished a single conservative thing in his entire political career (one term as liberal governor of liberal Massachusetts and six years campaigning for president). In Massachusetts, he undeniably championed abortion, gay rights, global warming, gun control, big government statist mandated/socialized health care programs, liberal judges, TARP, bailouts, stimulus spending, debt limit increases, etc, and even though he's recently claimed a complete reversal in political beliefs and no longer despises pro-life conservatives or the time of Reagan-Bush, I still don't trust him. He still stubbornly holds on to some of his statist beliefs, like global warming, gays in the military, RomneyCare, stimulus spending, etc, so there is no way I can vote for him or join Cain, Perry, Bachmann, Newt or any others who are endorsing him. But I will not act on my prior promises that I would actively campaign against him if he wins the nomination. Our combined movement is already torn and splintered and is going to have to be mended if we're going to have any impact whatsoever against the liberal/progressives and statists after the election. To that end I propose a TRUCE among our conservative forces during the remainder of this election cycle.

We conservatives have already lost the presidency to either the Dems or the GOP-e, and if we tear the tea party apart, if we tear the pro-life movement apart, if we tear FR apart then we lose it all. It's far more important that we re-unite and live to fight another day. Even if we can't vote for a true conservative for the presidency, it's doubly important that we all turn out on election day or sooner and drag our friends, neighbors, relatives, co-workers, etc, to the polls to vote straight conservative for every slot on our ballots. The only way we can win our freedom back is to vote out the liberal progressives and vote in as many liberty loving conservatives as is humanly possible into every elected office at every level of government all across this great land. To prevent a total loss to the dems or GOP-e, we must continue the tea party rebellion into November and beyond. Whatever else you may do, you must turn out and vote straight tea party conservative down ticket!!

We must continue expanding our inroads into the state houses and into every elective office in the land. We must continue building on our majority in the house and we must retake the senate!! We must help the conservative governors and state legislatures to fully restore the ninth and tenth amendments and reclaim the real political power away from the federal usurpers and return it to the states and the people per the constitution!! This way, regardless of who wins the presidency, we can cut his unconstitutional expansionist movements off at the knees. And if any executive, civil officer or judge dares commit impeachable offenses, we must hold the majorities so we can impeach and remove them from office!!

And we must salvage and rebuild and continue strengthening our conservative pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-borders, pro-constitution, pro-small government, pro-defense, pro-liberty movements and our tea party coalition. And we must stop ripping each other apart!!

Therefore I hereby propose a general truce among our conservative forces!!

The Republic we save may be our own!!

As far as FR's finances go, we're in the same boat as the rest of the economy and will have to make do with what we can raise. Fortunately, the big debts we ran up a couple years ago have been paid off. We borrowed approx $20,000 a few years ago from two FReepers to fund our national convention, plus we ran up another $20,000 in legal fees during the last couple of years fighting off Righthaven. But those are now behind us and paid off. We also did quite a bit of traveling each year for the last three years on cross country tea party tours, but I think we can now cut that back and remove it from our budget requirements. If we're fortunate enough to not incur any additional legal costs or equipment costs (other than what we've already planned), and cut the travel and a few other areas, we should be able to tighten our belts enough to weather the storm even if we fail to reach our short term fundraising goals.

Whatever the outcome of the elections, we are prepared to roar into 2013 with the tea party chewing up liberal/progressives and RINOs and raising hell in our never ending fight for liberty!!

We are the resistance!!

Let's take the enemy head-on instead of fighting each other!!

Damn the torpedoes, full steam ahead!!

Romney to live to fight another day.

Just can’t have 0bama for 4 more years.

That would be devastating.

Washington retreated when required. Fought till victory.

0bama in 2012 is in NO WAY at all good for the country.

JR is doing a yeoman’s job with FR as it is, and sounding critical and ungrateful is like the last thing I want to do.

Yet, I wonder if there could be a role for “caucusifying” software or other ways of supporting political actions (not just yacking) online this very same board. Right now there are just a handful of forums — why could not the concept of forum be greatly multiplied. Something with better capability than the state boards. But there might be more subcategories like “Teaparty activism-southwest US” etc. The posts there could then show up as well in a more generally named forum like “Teaparty activism.”

“We must have conservative majorities so we can control the agenda and or impeach the usurpers no matter who wins!!”

Pardon me Jim but the powers (truly) have spoken and Mitt is the nominee. I don't see ant amount of whining and your banning someone who may actually want Mitt. He sure isn't my choice (dare I say I would prefer Palin or Newt or any number of more conservative candidates) but he is going to be the runner and badmouthing those that picked him ain't going to get ‘er done.

It has taken 70 years for the libs to get this far. It is going to take more than one election to go back to more conservative times.

No, but that (head of GOP) is history. You have to deal with what IS. To re-elect Obama by having a snit would be a grave error.

Mitt is no white knight. At best he is a dirty dingy dark grey one. I guess that still might beat pitch black.

Look, JR has been more reasonable about it than in the past. Folks who say it’s wisest to vote Mitt in November (if he, as expected, makes the nomination) aren’t getting zot any more. But trolls who don’t appreciate what an abysmal choice that still would be, are still not tolerated.

Let me repost that. It's the only way we are going to avoid a heavily liberal Supreme Court for the next 20 or 30 years.

It opens up a bit more of a chance for it... possibly.

Mitt does what he thinks gains him the most kudos.

Now if the Congress went GOP this fall, but Mitt did not prevail, and it were possible to impeach both Obama and Biden in one fell swoop — well, the Speaker of the House would make it. President Boehner anyone?

Nor should anybody trust him. If they want to see what Romney is all about, may I suggest they take a look at Mike Bloomberg, Despot, I mean Mayor of New York city and the absolute hell the people who live there (like unfortunately me) are currently going through. He and Romney could be brothers. It's incredible to me how similar Romneys campaign is to the one Bloomberg ran in 2001.

Very rich Liberal poses as a Republican, spends tons of money on anything and everything that stands in his way, spouts Republican/Conservative ideals, then once he wins he does a 180 and it's game over. He completely trashes the Constitution, trashes individual rights, property rights, free speech, even incredibly enough - people who want to help others!! Yes you heard that right, he recently confiscated food donated to the homeless because Nutrition expert Dr. Mike Bloomberg did not deem it nutritious first! That is 1000% pure unadulterated DESPOTISM!! Let the homeless starve so the Despot can show his power!

Then on the other hand, he defends terrorists like OWS who have been terrorizing NYC for the past YEAR, and supports Muslims who want to agonize the 911 families. And actually ENCOURAGES ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION who ARE TAKING JOBS ALL OVER NEW YORK CITY! In construction, bridge repair, road work, taxi driving (so much for wanting to drive a cab while you're in between jobs) THIS is what you will get if Romney is elected POTUS. The American public is being conned by this shyster. He is a liar who will say and do ANYTHING to get elected. And once he does, WATCH OUT! I've seen this ALLLLL before, like Yogi Berra would say "It's Deja Vu all over again".

Oh yes, and term limits? You can forget about that! Term limits do not exist for a Despot.

Imagining a Republican dominated Senate and House that would have the balls to impeach Zero or even turn down a liberal Justice is a pipe dream. The only way to keep Obama from packing the court with liberals is to defeat Obama.

Obama is a weak candidate. Let’s beat him and then turn our attention to the RNC.

... some who oppose Romney (my last choice, EXCEPT for Obama) with an almost religious-seeming fervor (far more po’d at MR than BO), fueled by the certainty that the Lord loves them best for feeling that way....

You know what? I kinda think it's more your problem than it is a general FReeper problem. People who refuse Romney on purely religious grounds EXCLUSIVELY because of his stances on abortion and the gay agenda are conservatives worthy of respect. Their thinking is easy to understand: they believe, as do I, that God is more likely to abandon a nation that has abandoned Him, and for me to use my vote to empower an agent of depravity with regard to abortion and introducing homosexuality to school kids (yes, that's what Gay Youth Pride is all about), is to abandon God. That you choose to be offended by the fact that they explain and stand by their convictions, and that you take it as some kind of pronouncment on how much God does or doesn't love you ... ... well, like I say. I think it's more your "issue."

Romney is a liberal politician who has advanced pretty much every single liberal cause I've been voting Republican all these years to oppose. Common sense alone dictates that I use my vote hurt him as much as I can use it to hurt Obama. And that is to vote third party so my vote IS COUNTED in the final tally, and weakens the number of whichever liberal wins, Obama or Romney.

And I would STILL not vote for either..

Someone needs the cojones to give Mitt boy a good talking to about this soft side he has for gays. That factor alone could punk what otherwise might be a semi reasonable choice for a USSC justice. Hardly anybody’s even arguing any more about sodomy. Now the majority of people in every state simply don’t want the farce called gay marriage horning in on what society has traditionally saved for the marriage of a man to a woman, just because it can. Even state sanctioned polygamy would be less bad than the gay marriage farce.

If you vote for a liberal you will generally elect a liberal. That's not why I came to FreeRepublic.

Republicans need the 15% we conservatives represent to have a prayer against the Democrat mob. It is our job to extract concession from Republicans to gain our complicity. What better person to wrangle with Carl Rove than Jim Robinson. Go getum JR.

We would truly be out of our minds to vote for BO out of spite or vote in a manner that assures his victory this fall. Cast your vote for the most conservative candidate and work from within to change the current Republican Party structure..... but get those concessions.
