My FRiends, we might as well face the reality that we the combined pro-life conservative movement and tea party coalition have lost this round (the presidential election) in the larger battle to reclaim our constitution and our inalienable rights. Rove, Romney and the GOP-e have successfully destroyed and driven off each and every pro-life conservative tea party candidate from the race and all have surrendered to the Romney camp. It is no secret that Romney is not one of us. There is absolutely no doubt that he has never accomplished a single conservative thing in his entire political career (one term as liberal governor of liberal Massachusetts and six years campaigning for president). In Massachusetts, he undeniably championed abortion, gay rights, global warming, gun control, big government statist mandated/socialized health care programs, liberal judges, TARP, bailouts, stimulus spending, debt limit increases, etc, and even though he's recently claimed a complete reversal in political beliefs and no longer despises pro-life conservatives or the time of Reagan-Bush, I still don't trust him. He still stubbornly holds on to some of his statist beliefs, like global warming, gays in the military, RomneyCare, stimulus spending, etc, so there is no way I can vote for him or join Cain, Perry, Bachmann, Newt or any others who are endorsing him. But I will not act on my prior promises that I would actively campaign against him if he wins the nomination. Our combined movement is already torn and splintered and is going to have to be mended if we're going to have any impact whatsoever against the liberal/progressives and statists after the election. To that end I propose a TRUCE among our conservative forces during the remainder of this election cycle.

We conservatives have already lost the presidency to either the Dems or the GOP-e, and if we tear the tea party apart, if we tear the pro-life movement apart, if we tear FR apart then we lose it all. It's far more important that we re-unite and live to fight another day. Even if we can't vote for a true conservative for the presidency, it's doubly important that we all turn out on election day or sooner and drag our friends, neighbors, relatives, co-workers, etc, to the polls to vote straight conservative for every slot on our ballots. The only way we can win our freedom back is to vote out the liberal progressives and vote in as many liberty loving conservatives as is humanly possible into every elected office at every level of government all across this great land. To prevent a total loss to the dems or GOP-e, we must continue the tea party rebellion into November and beyond. Whatever else you may do, you must turn out and vote straight tea party conservative down ticket!!

We must continue expanding our inroads into the state houses and into every elective office in the land. We must continue building on our majority in the house and we must retake the senate!! We must help the conservative governors and state legislatures to fully restore the ninth and tenth amendments and reclaim the real political power away from the federal usurpers and return it to the states and the people per the constitution!! This way, regardless of who wins the presidency, we can cut his unconstitutional expansionist movements off at the knees. And if any executive, civil officer or judge dares commit impeachable offenses, we must hold the majorities so we can impeach and remove them from office!!

And we must salvage and rebuild and continue strengthening our conservative pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-borders, pro-constitution, pro-small government, pro-defense, pro-liberty movements and our tea party coalition. And we must stop ripping each other apart!!

Therefore I hereby propose a general truce among our conservative forces!!

The Republic we save may be our own!!

As far as FR's finances go, we're in the same boat as the rest of the economy and will have to make do with what we can raise. Fortunately, the big debts we ran up a couple years ago have been paid off. We borrowed approx $20,000 a few years ago from two FReepers to fund our national convention, plus we ran up another $20,000 in legal fees during the last couple of years fighting off Righthaven. But those are now behind us and paid off. We also did quite a bit of traveling each year for the last three years on cross country tea party tours, but I think we can now cut that back and remove it from our budget requirements. If we're fortunate enough to not incur any additional legal costs or equipment costs (other than what we've already planned), and cut the travel and a few other areas, we should be able to tighten our belts enough to weather the storm even if we fail to reach our short term fundraising goals.

Whatever the outcome of the elections, we are prepared to roar into 2013 with the tea party chewing up liberal/progressives and RINOs and raising hell in our never ending fight for liberty!!

We are the resistance!!

Let's take the enemy head-on instead of fighting each other!!

Damn the torpedoes, full steam ahead!!

"All through this thread I’ve explained his role in the campaign has been as a useful idiot for Mitt. Paul’s only objective was to divide and conquer the GOP away from real conservatives like Perry, Cain, Bachmann, Newt and so on."

His role as you see it. You have not proven your case, though, especially given the fact that each of our conservative candidates have taken far, far more votes away from each other, than Ron Paul, or even Mitt Romney, took from away them.

How many more times will we let ourselves be Huckabee-ed and Santorum-ed out of ANY decent conservative candidate? (No, that doesn't mean I think Ron Paul is a decent conservative candidate... The fact that Ron Paul is the ONLY Nationally Recognized Spokesperson for the US Constitution is a crying shame in my view.)

I agree with the poster who said we need a Conservative candidate primary well in advance of the Republican candidate primary.

As to Ron Paul's only objective? It's the same as it has been for 30 years. It's to use every chance, every opportunity, every occasion, every microphone he winds up in front of, to make some uncompromising point about the Constitution. No matter how much of a stretch or how crazy a leap of imagination it takes sometimes. He's said and done the the same thing for 30 years. He is a deeply flawed candidate, but nothing about his policies are as flexible and uncertain (and Socialist) as Romney's.

or say things like “A vote for anyone but Romney is a vote for Obama” you should be banned.

I won't say that, but I will say that a vote for Romney will directly cancel out someone else's vote for Obama. A vote for someone else that doesn't have a chance of winning will not effect any change at all (and probably won't even be counted at all in the greater scheme of things).

Not trying to tell anyone how to vote, that's a private issue - but as a strategy of defeating Obama - the only one that has any hope of success is a vote that cancels out someone that votes for Obama. You can talk about both candidates leading us off the cliff at different speeds - but it is a strategy to allow us to live to fight another day. Sometimes things are so desperate that grabbing at any chance is the preferred option.

I am trying to decide now on a short but efficient tag..

Something along the lines of, “Which do YOU want, a Communist, a Socialist, or a person who wants to UPHOLD American Values”...

Can’t figure any way to make it short enough though :/

Just when it seemed that Romney was getting a clue, he too whips out that harakiri sword again.

What happens if nobody gets a majority of the electoral vote this November?

Thank you Jim. This is the right course to take.

WooHoo! We can get rid of Obama!

Vote for the most conservative candidate you can in every race, and work for more conservative ones next round.

It is the common sense thing to do!!

I’m too damn tired tonight, but you’ve got a donation coming tomorrow!!!

“I’m talking about the Palin bid for 2012 that never came to pass. She was hinting about it, but the word on the street was that Democrats promised to savage her family in the media.”

Thanks for the explanation. I would have liked to see her run, too.

From what I saw, about 30-40% of FR was pretty seriously anti-Palin.

The change, getting back to the constitution, has to be done “consitutionally”.

'The Constitution has not moved'....it still stands on it's own....men have chosen to bypass or ignore it. It's still there.. and still shining in the hearts and minds of those who love this Nation...and some even in our government who hold to it's truths still.

If we remove men who do not hold to our constitution and who understand we the people are not to be "ruled", rather our government is to "serve" the people the Constitution will stand where it always has... on it's own.

If anything needs to be done our Congress needs to be reformed to once again reflect the people not the purse and certainly not with positions lasting a lifetime......

Then Go out for election blood in the 2014 & 2026 election that we didn't get.

SandRat.. I am glad to see you here..
I have NO right to say anything about what may happen in the upcoming elections (actually, the after effect) since I am not on home ground. BUT, I would willfully break out my guns and ammo to defend the great country that we have been losing for the last 60+ years, if I could :/

Palin did not seem outspoken “enough” for some harder cores. She didn’t give away the store from time to time, however, unlike His Mittness. Some were skeptical whether she actually meant to run. I think she did, but also looked at what the Demon Rats were already doing to savage prominent conservatives. That is really the dirtiest of tricks. What do you think Democrats would say if Rush Limbaugh, say, began to mock Obama’s daughters?

“They attack us for refusing to vote for a liberal and then accuse of intolerance and being hateful and whatnot..”

It’s only an “attack” if you’re one of those bizarrely pompous posters who view themselves as smiled upon by God for their voting decisions. Bragging about that kind of delusional thinking (there’s your intolerance) deserves a little attention, regardless of who they support or oppose. However, of late it’s come almost exclusively from some who oppose Romney (my last choice, EXCEPT for Obama) with an almost religious-seeming fervor (far more po’d at MR than BO), fueled by the certainty that the Lord loves them best for feeling that way.

That being said, if the shoe doesn’t fit, don’t wear it.

Could you point out a couple of those name-calling, insults which have occurred on this thread?

Oh my, no - I haven't EVEN read this whole thread - just bits of it. I was talking about the name-calling and insults which have reigned on this whole site for quite some time now. I've seen people be called a "Romney-bot" just for saying they will vote for Romney over Obama. Noob, troll....heck, I was even told I wasn't a real Christian one time because I said something critical of Sarah Palin.

Not to mention being called a "Perrywinkle", accused of supporting Rick Perry because I had the "hots" for him, on & on. Then, seeing people be cluster-bullied by various "posse-ping list" FReepers, simply for disagreeing with one-of-the-group.

Not saying the rest of us are saints - but it's pretty obvious that I'm not the only one that feels this way. It's the owner's site to do with how he wishes, but there are consequences to actions.
