"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended. We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates wouldnt make any sense at all." -- President Ronald Reagan
There has been a lot of discussion on this forum on whether or not a "conservative" can or should support Mitt Romney in the general election.
I am 60 years old, and for all of my adult life, since I joined the U.S. Navy at age 17, I have fought the EVIL ideology that is socialism/marxism/communism/statism, call it what you will. And it IS EVIL. It destroys the human spirit. It reduces every individual to a state of hopeless dependence on an all powerful state, run for the benefit of a few favored, powerful, connected people.
We all KNOW that B. HUSSEIN O. is a communist, and truth be told, an islamist supporter. So, he MUST be defeated and destroyed, along with his ideology.
However, myth obamney is also a "progressive" (read COMMUNIST), BY HIS OWN WORDS.
His actual record is indistinguishable from B. HUSSEIN O.
"If we must have an enemy at the head of Government, let it be one whom we can oppose, and for whom we are not responsible, who will not involve our party in the disgrace of his foolish and bad measures." - Alexander Hamilton
Therefore, I will NOT vote for a socialist/marxist/communist/statist, REGARDLESS of party label. I WILL NOT VOTE FOR myth obamney in November. I will vote for the Constitution Party candidate, Virgil Goode, or I will write in my DOG over EITHER major party candidate, because they are EXACTLY the same.
Before you start to flame me, ask yourself this: IF myth somehow is elected, do you REALLY expect him to roll back ANYTHING that B. HUSSEIN O. forced on us? ObamaCare??? That is RomneyCare. EPA rules and regulations? Labor relations rules and regulations that empower unions? Energy policy? IS THERE ANYTHING that the rooster-sucking, goat-humping statist socialist/communist Myth Obamney will eliminate? I would suggest that his whole f**king record says not only "no" but "HELL NO!" There is NOTHING he would change.
So, for all the myth obamney lurkers, go back to your f**king candidate and tell him I said he can take his "God in waiting" cult beliefs, his f**king "magic underwear" and his f**king communism and GO STRAIGHT TO HELL!
Where liberty dwells, there is my country." Benjamin Franklin
“Why didnt the GOP nominate a strong conservative this time?”
Because it is not a conservative party. It is only intended to look like one.
The real fight is not horizontal between the left and the right. The real fight is vertical, between the Washington government and duped, taxed and hassled Americans. The feigned struggles between these two corrupt parties is just a Punch and Judy show. The puppet show sells tickets and keeps the audience occupied.
That's not what Reagan did during the time of his words at the top of this thread. He was fighting within the GOP against those he called 'traitors'. He didn't leave, he didn't blame 'the party' he stayed and fought and won.
This was in 1966, for governor. Later, when he lost the presidential nomination to Ford, he didn't leave the party either. He endorsed Ford in a rousing speech, one that helped him gain support for the next primary.
Reagan didn't blame the GOP, he didn't run to some one-horse party to avoid those he knew he had to defeat eventually anyway. He stayed and fought and built and changed the party.
The lesson we should take is, it is time to do this again.
Which primary do the vast majority of conservatives vote in?
“The lesson we should take is, it is time to do this again.”
No, it is time to throw the rotting corpse of the GOP on top of the bones of Whigs. Past time, really.
I see. And leave the field to the Democrats?
The crowd is beginning to leave.
I don’t need a crowd.
We’re still here. :)
There is no need for two leftwing welfare state parties.
The strongest one will survive, and it won’t be the GOP.
Does that mean only the Dems will exist?
Or...?
My point, before I too leave is:
If you can’t do it within the GOP, the party with the vast majority of conservatives, you can’t do it from scratch.
Whatever the tasks, people, tactics, communication, leadership, organization, etc., they are the same. Only it takes a great deal more effort and time to do it from scratch.
Reagan didn’t leave or blame the party. I don’t think it makes any sense either.
(might as well get mentally prepared for the inevitable)
Oh goodness no, they get to bitch about Obama and blame the rest for his victory.
;)
Good night all...
reposted to correct grammar:
Is it fair for me to say that if you have your chance to vote Obama out, but don’t take it, you forfeit your right to bitch about him?
No, wrong. You do not understand how the Ruling Class GOP-e has rigged itself to immunity from change. Several FReepers reported Cook-County styled strong-arming and rules changing during Caucuses to literally steal delegates for Romney and shut down any protests to overt rules violations.
Sadly I do not think you and a host of other well-intentioned and scared-to-death folks know what time it actually is, and how screwed and betrayed we really are.
The GOP is dead as a viable party for Conservatives if anyone is willing to look at the fruits. The Ruling Class in the party are not only allied with the MarxoFascists for a share of the pie, the leadership of the GOP wants the Conservative movement dead as much as the Democrats do.
Apparently many of you forgot the abject outrage and anger Conservatives generated from the GOP leadership when we melted the phone lines of the Capitol switchboard over Bush's attempt to grant Illegals Amnesty in 2007.
Well I remember it, and I remember the insults handed down to us. I believe the GOP-e determined then and there that they needed to 'deal' with the Principled faction of the "big tent" they wanted as a bridge to power with the Democrats. And by 'Deal', I mean destroy and make irrelevant. They do not care if Obama gets another term, their focus is on wiping us out. They hedged their bets on the future of big Statism and having a seat at the table, and their fingers within reach of all the money centralized with all the power in DC.
Shoving a clone of Obama in record upon the party ensures that Socialism wins no matter who wins in November. We are so brainwashed into thinking the GOP is an opposition party, we refuse to see the evidence right before our eyes that the GOP is Allied with Obama for the purpose of keeping themselves in power with a big hand in the redistribution of wealth now begun in earnest under Obama.
You will not save the nation by voting for Romney.
And if Romney should win by some miracle, not one jot or tittle of what Obama has already done will be reversed. Instead, it will be upheld and institutionalized.
You'll see. Thankfully I am not the only one here who sees this cycle and the GOP-e for what it is. But know we are DONE with party. The GOP has already become dead and just a satellite of the MarxoFascists, the conditioned and the fearful just don't realize it yet.
Okay, to everyone now using the talking point that "Reagan did not leave the GOP, he fought to transform it and so should we" - I have a question.
Why didn't Reagan stay within the Democrat party and try reforming it from within instead of jumping parties?
The answer reveals why Conservatives cannot and should not stay within the GOP and hope in vain to change it.
Not if they want any relevant political voice in the future.
The GOP has not only left us, it has gone to war against us and foisted a near-clone of an overt Marxist upon us as the national nominee.
Principled Conservatives need to find another party and let the GOP become absorbed into the Democrat party. This nation was built from scratch, so making a new home from scratch for Conservatives is cake in comparison.
I'm done being a battered wife voter for the adulterous GOP.
LOL - love it! bttt

Here’s another one to add to your list.
See my tagline...........
Let me first say that I respect your opinion and admire you for taking a strong Conservative stand.
I did the same thing last election, obviously to no avail. I, too, logged in my protest vote against the RINO-McCain by writing in Duncan Hunter/John Bolton.
This election is entirely different. The zer0 WILL appoint super-lib Communists/Lesbians/Homos to the SCOTUS and America will be “Fundamentally changed”.....forever.
It goes against every Conservative cell in my body to pull the lever for a proven RINO, but I will do damn near anything to boot 0bama out of office.
We can survive a Romney Presidency. We cannot survive four more years of Socialism/Marxism under 0bama.
Flame away, if you wish. Call me a liberal “Romney-Bot” if you see fit. I really don’t care because I have America’s best interest in my heart.
I’ve never seen anyone quite so worked up and enthusiastic about handing the country to Obama once again, so he can finish the job.
In other words, “I’M GONNA SIT ON MY BUTT!!! YAY ME!!!!”
Nicely done.
“If I stay home, it will be the first time I ever did that, since I started voting in 1976.”
And this time, after Obama gets re-elected and drives the final nail into America’s coffin, you can brag to your great-grandchildren what a genius you were.
“Im writing in Sarah Palin.”
Yeah, that’ll send a message. Not.
Bingo.
What the ABOs fail to understand is that if they want their red-clad statist to defeat the blue-clad statist, they need us a heck of a lot more than we need them.
“Sorry to sound so harsh but come on guys. We can’t afford to give Obama four more years to destroy this country. What if Obama wins AND gets the congress back?”
Kudos....even Obama light is better than what we have. God help us.
Hopefully, the GOP will dissolve as a party after 2012. Let the RINOs go home to the RATs and let the Conservatives take over.
Yes to that!!!
This is the vicious cycle we are on as a party. Reagans quote at the top of this thread is about the GOP, not the democrats. He worked within the party to change it.

It was against George Romney and his moderate buddies who had betrayed Barry Goldwater and the Conservatives in 1964

I do not need a bible to tell me right from wrong.
- - - - -
Then you do not truly know right from wrong.
The battle that the author is talking about is the battle for the nomination - and that is pretty much over. During the primaries you get to fight for your perfect candidate.
Now is the time for supporting the winner of the primaries, and focusing attention on getting a better candidate on the Republican ballot in future elections.
Now is also the time for focusing on races in the House and Senate.
Now is also the time for starting to communicate to Romney that he's better tow the f'ing line.
Now is *NOT*, however, the time to stomp one's feet on the ground, and take one's ball and go home.
We're engaged in a battle in which there will never be a perfect outcome, and in which there will never be total victory.
William Shakespeare said it best:
"Rather proclaim it, Westmoreland, through my host, That he which hath no stomach to this fight, Let him depart; his passport shall be made And crowns for convoy put into his purse:..."
Can't do it. I won't be voting for Romney. I can't vote for a pro-abort, gun-banning, big government liberal.
/johnny
You can’t blame me for Obama. I didn’t vote for him the first time, I didn’t vote for his twin in the primary and I won’t be voting for EITHER of them (thus not helping or hurting either one) in the general.
If the price of maintaining this website is the surrender of every core value we hold dear, then it's time to turn out the lights.
Personally, I think Jim Rob could bounce every single Mittbot out of here, and FR would go on as before.
The only core principles Mitt has, are those that concern Mitt. The man is simply a sell-out to his countrymen. It just so happens that his transgressions against the greater good, align precisely with the leftist agenda. He would have sold out to the right, if the political conditions had been reversed.
So that is what it’s come down to?
Supporting the flip flopper because he might flip to your side on an issue and then HOPE he stays there....
No thanks.
You may well be correct about this. But, I'd suggest that the political conditions for him have reversed. He's no longer seeking to govern the most liberal state in the country, and is seeking to govern a country with a center-right majority. That fact, which puts him in opposition to Obama and needing conservative (or at least not liberal) support to survive in office, means that circumstances will be pushing him farther to the right.
If that's how circumstances force him to run and govern, I'll take that in a heartbeat over the guy we know is 1) committed to true leftist values, and 2) dependent upon support from the left of rhis political survival.
To paraphrase, Mitt Romney may be a b*stard, but he's at least our b*stard now.
And that was the only point I wished to bring out. Everybody agrees that this November is shaping up to bring Americans an abysmal choice for president (no third party has any hope of being anything but a spoiler). In that abyss, I’d still rather get a politician who “might” yield to a conservative-leaning majority for the sake of his own pride or whatever, than one who is single mindedly bent on evil. If anything is desperate here, it’s the situation of the entirety of America. America right now needs to worry about just surviving, not being great.
Don’t forget with Romney there is that ever so important Obama THIRD term to worry about as well.
That is a very good analogy.
Others have used similar imagery to remark that the Jews and other good Germans missed their opportunity to stand up against Hitler and the Nazis when they had a chance. Instead, they were so civilized, and acclimated to a well-ordered society, that they simply could not believe that real tyranny was upon them. It didn't become real to them, until the SS began hauling people out of their homes, never to be seen again.
Right up until that very moment, those among them who were sounding the alarm, were ridiculed and shouted down. It's not unlike what the Mittbots and other enablers are doing on this forum.
Exactly.
People need to understand that one can choose 'none of the above' in this rigged game. I and others choose Liberty instead, which means that we choose to resist in whatever ways we can.
Most just go back to the first box.. And bit*h about it from their soap box.
Nobody is disagreeing that America needs better than this November will offer.
The only debate is over methods. Anyone who puts a clothespin on his nose and goes and votes for Romney in November, and supposing it does get Romney over the hump, does no lasting good if they don’t do anything more. First, to seek a spiritual awakening locally. Second, to try to raise up better politicians for the future.
You can lay that ALL a the feet of the church in the USA. They willfully lost the culture, compromised with sin, created a whole new ‘Jesus’ to fit the need for the itching ears of the people to hear smooth and easy things, until the church is nothing more than saltless lukewarm water.
When we transformed into a II Timothy 3 generation, our goose was cooked. And until this people does II Chronicles 7:14, there is no saving us from the consequences we have sown and are now reaping.
This people wanted a king and to make government their god. The Almighty granted this people their demand.
Circumstances (i.e., the will of the people) will not have the slightest effect on Romney's direction, should he become president. He and his compatriot, Obama, do not answer to us, our wishes, or our Founding Covenants. They answer to other masters.
It's a hopeful, but naive thought, that a man like Romney possesses sufficient connection to his fellow Americans and our shared history and core values, to be swayed by our political will. He has demonstrated this throughout his political career, yet some people cling to the vain hope that they can somehow reach him.
If you're that type of 'clinger', prepare for the disappointment of a lifetime.
The only core principles Mitt has, are those that concern Mitt....He would have sold out to the right, if the political conditions had been reversed.
But now, you're saying that political circumstances "will not have the slightest effect" on him, because he's committed to other beliefs. So is he just a political opportunist who will support the right as easily as the left if it advantagees him, or is he a committed lefty?
When you put it that way, no problem. I could not agree with you more. Regards.
And you are fighting back by voting for Virgil Goode, Mickey Mouse, Luke Skywalker? Heck just vote for Thomas Jefferson, he has just as good a chance.
The choice is going to be Obama or Romney and they are worlds apart. If you don't want to have a say in the matter then fine, but you should know Obama is a damn dangerous man and you will be helping him.
