Coming late to the conversation about the color of Obama’s hands in the photo with his white girlfriend: Obviously, it’s autumn. People ordinarily have darker hands in autumn than other times of the year, because they’ve been in the sun all summer. If they drive, their hands are even darker. His hands look the same color as hers. Yet their faces, also in the sunlight, don’t look the same hue. His hands ought to be at least a few shades darker than hers.
